Ultimate Footy 2013 - Norm Smith League

Recommended Posts

Backs: Adcock Heppell Dunn (B/F) McGrath (B/F) Tapscott

Mids: Rockliff (C/F) N.Jones S.Black Cooney (C/F) Cunnington O'Meara Moloney D.Jackson

Rucks: Jolly Hudson Hille (R/F)

Forwards: J.Riewoldt Rioli A.Goodes Gunston

Pretty happy with the make-up of my squad. No out and out gun midfielder in the swan/ablett mould however if Rockliff, jones step up, Beamer makes good in Brissy, and Cooney is over his knee and is flying like the reports say I might be ok. Happy +++ with my forward line( and dual possy forwards for cover), could do with another solid defender for the inevitable injury to Adcock (but maybe captaincy will suit and he'll stay healthy!). Overall content with draft night

And more importantly ... how is your health JCB?

I appreciate your inquiry re my health.

I have a Pep Scan next Wednesday and see my specialist next Thursday to find out my current status.

Starting to eat now, which is a relief.

Went from 88 kls to 62.5 kls whilst having treatment for cancer in several spots..Unfortunately had a relapse at the start of the year which sent me flying.

However, like always will bounce back and give all you coaches a real run for your money..or in this case a run for the game.

Take care and sorry that you got suspended earlier on...usually that happens to me...quite often.

All the best to all coaches and watch out I will be there at year end.

Good to hear you're getting your appetite back. That's a good sign!

If you approach UF with a fraction of the fight you've shown in your personal health battle, you'll make the eight in a canter.

Have you guys seen JackAttacks team? Wow! If he is not $1.01 favourite I'll eat my hat

Yeah, looks pretty good. Let's see how they play as a team. $1.01 is too short, so try eating that hat. Play him in Round 9. He snapped up Beau Waters who I had my eye on in the draft. Had him last year. May kick myself for not having him as a keeper for a back from last year. Elected to go with Bartel (C/F) and Dal Santo ©. Need Frawley to step up this year I feel.

Bartel is getting a good wrap around the place. Probably would have been drafted earlier than Waters so you've done the right thing

The projected totals have me beating him this week...

Does our season start this week, I forget how it works...

At $4.55 I'll put that bet on for sure.

The Jackattacks are a changed team this year; fitter, stronger and with a game plan.

Without knowing your score breakdown I can't say much except for the fact that you have a very potent forward line...

Drop Sylvia for Garlett though.

Agree with RPFC's comments. Forward line strong.

Generally speaking an exceptionally strong team compared to ours, you have either draft exceptionally well, or there are not as many teams in your league.

Sixteen.

Ahhh k so two more. Probably makes quite a big difference in those leagues. We found that having too many makes it really difficult. Ours is a keeper league starting from now though so we've got squads of 30 with 18 on your field and 4 emergencies. At the end of the season you have to turn over a minimum of 7 players.

Interesting. Makes the draft a bit dull but I would like to have a go at that kind of league. Would be more akin to managing a team.

IMPORTANT

You must set your team before the first game of each round. Previously it may have been possible to wait until Saturday morning, this is not the case anymore.

So we have to select our players who play next week tonigh?

Lineup lockout deadline

In the leadup to each AFL round you can move players around your lineup as much as you like. Once the AFL round commences however players will become locked into position, the timing of which depends on your leagues Lineup Lockout setting. To allow you to choose your preferred rules Ultimate Footy provides the following lineup changes lockout options:

First Saturday Game Of The Round (default): No changes can be made after the first Saturday game of the round has commenced. Players who play prior to the first Saturday game are locked once their game commences.

This setting is used by all public leagues. Note that in Round 1 where AFL games are played over two weeks, lockout will actually take place on the second Saturday of the round (1:40pm Saturday March 30th).

First Game Of The Round: No lineup changes can be made after the first AFL game of the round has commenced.

Individual Game Time (a.k.a Rolling Lockout): Coaches can move players between bench and starting positions as long as both players being moved are yet to have their team play.

Is there a chance to change it?

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo

    WELCOME 2024 by Meggs

It’s been hard to miss the seismic global momentum happening in Women’s sport of late. The Matildas have been playing to record sell-out crowds across Australia and ‘Mary Fowler is God’ is chalked onto footpaths everywhere. WNBA basketball rookie sensation Caitlin Clark has almost single-handedly elevated her Indiana Fever team to unprecedented viewership, attendances and playoffs in the USA.   Our female Aussie Paris 2024 Olympians won 13 out of Australia’s all-time record 18 gol
