I'd have both Frawley and Garland in as contenders for most marks.

I'm confident that Clark has goals sewn up.

Watts took a lot of marks even when out of form.

Similarly, Trengove led out tackles last year. Go figure.

Something I'd be interested to see is who will provide the 'running bounces'. Or two leaders in that stat in recent years, by big margins, were the duo of Sylvia and Davey.

Tyson, Toumpas, Vince? Maybe we'll see Frawley given some extra licence to run free?

Most Kicks: Mitch Clisby

Most Handballs: Daniel Cross

Most Tackles: Jack Viney

Most Marks: James Frawley

Most Goals: Jesse Hogan

Bluey winner: Colin Garland

I'm unfortunately of the opinion that Mitch Clark has five games of footy left in his career. Fortunately, I think Hogan will be a beast from pretty much day one. I'm tipping big Spence to become our number one ruck, and Viv Michie to become one of our best two or three mids (better than everyone bar Jones, basically). I want to see Fitzy on the park regularly, possibly as a ludicrously tall winger at times, and I'd like to see Pedersen teach Dawes how to take a contested mark... otherwise, honestly, perhaps Pedersen would be a better role-playing CHF than Dawes (he is a fantastic pack mark... not sure on his goalkicking... anyone?).

I'm also tipping Roos to turn one of our much maligned fit-but-talentless midfielders (Jordie, Nicho, Bail) into a consistently solid performer who hits targets and shuts down a player (hoping for Nicho). I think Roos will LOVE Lynden Dunn and turn him into Ryan Crowley Mk II.

In 2013 we needed the following stats:

Most clangers:

Least influential in a game:

Most weeks out injured:

Most direct passes to opposition:

Time spent walking after opponent:

Selfish acts:

Squibs:

Most clangers: Nicholson

Least influential in a game: Bail

Most weeks out injured: Jamar

Most direct passes to opposition: Grimes

Time spent walking after opponent: Bail

Selfish acts: Blease

Squibs: Pedersen (Cam - if you are playing in the backline and an opponent runs back in to the pack you're about to hit - TAKE THEM OUT. If he doesn't make body contact, I call that a "squib").

Could've just thrown Nicholson, Bail and Grimes up in the air and left them where they landed.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
