I have often wondered why more has not been made of the Australia-wide connections to our name and colours. Presumably this naming convention links back to the birth of our own 'demons' in the 1930's under Checker-Hughes.

A quick internet search reveals the following football club as "Demons", many red n blue, and at least some using our club's logos or symbols:

Pennant Hills Demons Football Club NSW

Boolarra Demons Football Club Vic

Perth Demons Football Club WA

Bentleigh Demons Football Club Melbourne Metro

Berri (NSW) Demons Football Club NSW

Horsham Demons Football Club Western Victoria

Surfers Paradise Demons Football Club Qld

Eastern Park Football Club S.A

Portarlington Demons Football Club

Willunga Demons Football Club S.A

Armadale (Junior) Football Club W.A

Has the club ever researched all the Australian Demon Football clubs (not to mention the Boston Demons)

with the view to creating some loose kind of association? Maybe our promotional material could be forwarded to these clubs, maybe a host of other connections could be made. Know any others?

North Hobart

Also a couple of clubs who run with the "Redlegs" nickname - Norwood and Mount Eliza spring to mind.

If anyone mentions the Eastlake Demons up in Canberra I will shoot you down: they wear Essendon's guernsey, and sing Hawthorn's song.

They don't know who they are.

hahaha, they sound like a political party. only in canberra, eh?

The Crusty Demons

Yeah the 50+ league

Pennant Hills defintely a full demon outfit (colours, song etc) and have a strong junior club as well. But they would probably see themselves more aligned with Sydney given J McVeigh and K Jack (and now B Jack) are all from there. Side note - M McVeigh also from here to Essendon.

The Boston team in the US is also Demons I believe (a mate of mine played for them).

Eastlake now strongly aligned with GWS. Would expect their colours to change with that.

I played a couple of seasons with the Laharum Demons in western Victoria. I personally think they have one of the most picturesque grounds around. The backdrop is the Grampians, but gee it gets cold there when you're training on a Thursday night in winter.

Koo Wee Rup FC.

Neither do we IMO from our past...

a little aside.... Almost seems like we were dragged into "The Demons" against our Wills, but feel more at home in the garden trimming the Fuscias.

As soon as we lose the drivers that keep us as "Demons" the default personality of the cricket club returns & with some comfort. northern comfort

How do we KEEP the Demon spirit burning in our footballers whilst they're playing days are alive, before they turn to pasture in the business garden...?

excuse the laterality, but I feel its important, so I'll start a thread....

Update. This list illustrates that the demons brand is spread far and wide across australia, and is not parochialised and local to trendy parts of melbourne, as some commentators such as Greg Champion would have you believe.

Diamond Creek in the Northern Footy League (Melb).

Thanks for that. Anyone with time on their hands may like to go through the list and categorise teams that use 'Grand Old Flag' as their team song.

Shepparton United Football Club

11 flags, including a clean sweep of all 3 grades in 1980

Montrose FC (2nd div, EFL)

That's correct. There was an article on the MFC site about them earlier this year: http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/2012-02-08/introducing-the-boston-demons.default?
