Companies can't sue for defamation any more. Connolly, Schwab and McLardy potentially could. The problem with legal cases is that under the 'discovery' process a lot of stuff might come out that the club. AFL and people might not want to see. The AGE would be thrilled with that.

There is no smoking gun. Not one public statement has said 'I was told to lose". It didn't happen. The other stuff is like experimenting etc is not a crime nor a breach of rules.

Maybe not so thrilled when all her sources are revealed.

Semantics. His comments and the subsequent reporting of them was considered enough evidence to at least investigate the claims.

Bulldust. These claims had been made previously in the media. Claims had been made by more reputable sources about another club. A previous investigation sparked by Dean Bailey had wrapped up quickly. Why this now? Why a differerent process? To claim that there was more evidence does not stand up to any scrutiny. It would be interesting to question the AFL on that, why such poor quality of "evidence" sparked such a major investigation and how information from this new investigation was leaked.

To those of you who are rightfully cancelling your paid subscriptions to The Age, i am hooping you are letting them know the reason why

If you didn't tell then go do it now so they know exactly whats going on and that we wont accept the defamatory tripe they are allowing that old hag to publish

What I sent...

I have today cancelled my daily home delivery of your paper, and have removed the link from my Android phone and laptop, as a result of today's C Wilson article.

I have come to the decision that a paper that allows an opinion piece at best, and a personal agenda at worst, to presented as a news article, and not as an editorial or as an opinion piece, cannot be relied on to provide objective unbiased reporting.

I will source my news from other sources. Thank you.

Even if we did found out as not guilty? Will people stop calling us cheaters, No!!!!!!!!!!!

This remind me of one of the greatest cricketers of all time Muttiah muralitharan

Even though he has proven so many times he is not a thrower, so many people still want to believe that's the case.

Caroline Wilson is one of the most disgraceful reporters of all time.

She talks rubbish and will do anything to feel the need to bag out teams.

Wilson will do anything in her power to say we are guilty, even if we aren't.

A rubbish reporter who deserves nothing

You tell me ?

There's an investigation and it will have a conclusion. Rightly, or wrongly, It was re-opened on the back of OTC and the club deals with it. I'm not privy to the machinations. The AFL deemed McLean's comments to be forthright, new and worthy of investigation.

You're an excitable type.

Caroline Wilson's attack, as has been noted by many previously on this and other threads is a personal vendetta against key members of the MelbourneFC administration. Her articles have lost their merit in rehashing information that she has used in previous articles to reaffirm her points in her future articles. This is the sort of rubbish journalism that comes from FOX news in the US, where they are allowed to make statements in opinion shows and use these as facts in their news programs. I would have to say that this last article was 'pathetic and disgusting' - to use her own words.

This last article was the one which finally crossed the line for me. I could put up with the other articles but this last one seems to have lost all subtlety and is a blatant attack on all things MFC, including the great man Jim, without using any evidence to back up her points. It was just a negative opinion piece on the club.

I have seen that some people on this forum have already started cancelling 'Age' subscription but was wondering if we should not go further? The message doesn't seem to have had too great an effect so far due to the fact that she is the Chief Editor for the newspaper on all things AFL. I am putting it out there - what if we all joined forces and wrote separate letters to the editor of 'The Age'. I am not asking for anything nasty or over-the-top but just providing the message that CW's pieces on the MFC have gone too far, our opinion of 'The Age' has been tarnished because of this. Another possibility is to have a few of the members on this forum create a really well constructed letter to the editor with a blank paragraph that each individual submitting could make their own; so it doesn't look too copy paste.

The reason for this is that the MFC put out a very good press release, but beyond that are unable to combat CW without it blowing up in their face. So I put this call out the the Demonland people - can you take up the fight for the MFC and stop this CW monster from attacking the club we bleed red and blue for?

To quote CW at the end of her article, "If what some former players and coaches say is true then the tanking was only half of it". I have a vague suspicion to what she is talking about and have said similar here. She certainly has more information on the investigation which goes beyond tanking that is still not in the public domain. She has some ammo to back up the heavy attack on the club. The worst is yet come.

I think that the average punter probably doesn't even read these now daily updates on this saga. If I wasn't a dees fan I wouldn't read each article.

We should boycott reading this rubbish, I'm sure the more hits we give her 'articles' the more likley she is to continue to spit them out

Mods..I know why you deleted my post ( tank wilson graphic ) but I assure you she is firmly in the sights of thousands !!

Quite measured for a change, just maybe he sees the damage this is doing and even though he has a big issue with CS is not sinking the boots into the supporters.

With her remarks on Jim if it was my mate she was talking about I wouldn't be in the same room as her let alone work with her. There is no way known Gary can work with her and time for him to stand up.

She is putting it all on the line here.

Good point. Garry spoke at Jim's funeral. They were very close. He is still close to Sam. Caro has called Jim a liar. Surely Garry will need to confront her as Jim can't. If it was my mate, I would.

Truly "disgusting and pathetic" Caro, attacking a dead man. How low will you go?

Why don't we go further and demand that the club terminates its sponsorship with the Age.

I understand that could mean a loss of funds but it would be a move full of integrity and, on that basis alone, we should have no problems finding alternative sponsorships.

You disgust me with the way you seem to enjoy Caroline Wilson attacking us like this without any factual evidence?

And the only way you have a vague suspicion about what she is talking about is, if you are Caroline Wilson?

Quite frankly I am infinitely far more disgusted to what certain individuals within the club have done in recent years.

I get the feeling this vendetta against the MFC is personal for CW

I also get the feeling - ex players linked to '186' who were un-happy with CC & CS are fuelling this fire. Interesting times

What is the position when a sponsor, the Age, attacks the club it sponsors? I know there is freedom of speech and journos in newspapers have a job to do, but this is over the top.

Deeman suggested we part ways with the Age. That is one avenue. It will as he says show integrity.

In addition to us cancelling subscriptions, remember advertising is their revenue. I for one will never use the Age again for advertising and I will be speaking to my Real Estate mates and business friends to convince them to do the same.

If Caro has the right to write venom, we have the right to lawfully respond.
