I put this to you...??

If the AFL does decide to penalize the entire Melbourne Football Club rather than individuals then we need to protest against this!

We as Demons supporters have suffered enough!

If the AFL does wish to punish the entire club for allegedly "tanking" then I suggest a number of options.

The first would be a public demonstration with as many Demons supporters as possible at the AFL headquarters.

The second would be, as supporters, mounting a class action against the AFL and taking them to court. Just like the Bulldogs supporters did against the VFL/AFL in the late 1980's.

Anyways, these are merely suggestions of what we "could" possibly do if the AFL decides to punish the entire Melbourne Football Club.

We shall not let the AFL (or the Media) destroy the Melbourne Football Club because of the flawed priority pick system that the AFL created in the first place!

Refuse to take a membership until they see reason & look at all the clubs drafting & salary cap issues, & other advantageous dealings over the last 15 Years...

No memberships, no going to games, & boycott the TV footy, until we see some equality happen.

As much as we'd like the punishments to rest with the individuals - it doesn't work like that. These "individuals" are representatives of the MFC, especially if the board were involved with the directive.

I am yet to hear what so wrong that was said in that meeting...

And Stylus is right - if anyone thinks that we can avoid sanctions by selling Schwab, McLardy, Connolly and co. down the river they are being naive.

There are a few people trying to 'smoke' out a few old adversaries and the club is in the crossfire.

If you are a Demon you will be right behind the cadre of idiots.

So I assume you are assuming there are guilty people within the Club, would you include the many supporters that gleefully cheered when Jordan McMahon kicked that goal.....surely that act qualifies as a 'Judas' act

i agree with that. But not boycotting memberships.

The club needs a fighting fund topped up at all times. We are going to need it as other AFL Clubs will not allow us to get off scot free.

We could boycott the memberships & the likes of foxtel, til we get something done.

Not to not renew, but to threaten, & to delay.

The hurt for us should be minor. But the message should be seen as serious by the AFL.

Everyone thinks where a easy target so let's go out there and show them that as supporter we are not going put up with this.

When we 'tanked' in 2009 I would bet that the vast majority of us were in favour of the club doing just that. In fact we demanded that this happen. If 'they' hadn't tanked we'd have been baying for blood. Losing the opportunity to get two 'guns', etc etc.To come out now and say that 'they' should be punished as individuals is nothing short of hypocrisy.

i assume there are Judas's who's agenda is to ensure we're whacked.

Let us not be naive to what was the ideal outcome. Would havr been thd same for many othrr clubs at times.

A But there are some within the club or surrounds who want their own ends sated.

There are traitors in our midst thats all im sure of.

A boycott? Yeah that would be a good look. 200 disgruntled supporters max chanting and holding placards while the AFL head honchos are laughing over their chai lattes.

Just penalising the individuals? Why wasn't John Elliot the only one that was fined? Don't be so naive. They represented the club. Should we stop handing out premiership cups and just give the players their medallions? After all, it must be an individual sport.

The most naive decision would have to be a boycott. Lol you don't want the club to be punished but you want to do this?? I'm sure the AFL would never survive a slight drop off at Demons' games or 15 people cancelling their Foxtel membership.

The best thing we as supporters could do?

1. Make sure you buy your 2013 membership as early as possible.

2. Make sure any other friends/relatives who have let their memberships lapse oveer the last couple of years sign up for 2013.

3. Turn up to every game possible in 2013 and make sure we bring as many people with us as we can.

4. Turn up to the AGM next Feb. with prepared questions to ask in a reasoned manner to show our anger at the inept way the club has been run - hold the board accountable (assuming they're still there).

5. Continue to donate to the club and buy merchandise through the Demon Shop to ensure the fine the club is handed down can be paid off immediately and doesn't cripple the club.

In summary stick fat with the club at a time when every man and his dog are lining up to kick us in the nads. Show them that we as supporters actually SUPPORT our club when it needs us the most instead of using a crisis to further divide the club to push individual agendas. Also get behind the club to voice our rage at the fact we have been made a scapegoat for the AFL's image when many other clubs have done the same thing before us and name those clubs (assuming the investigation isn't widened).

This is all predicated on the assumption that we will actually face sanctions. The media campaign at the moment doesn't look good, but on the other hand there haven't been any "smoking guns" to show that the club threw games to gain priority picks. Every indication so far shows that the players were never told to go out and lose so there is no indication so far that we will actually face punishment.

The Judas' are the ones rolling over to the AFL investigators and leaking to the media, not the ones who acted in the best long term interests of the club.

There are a number of things that supporters can do to mitigate the damage that these allegations have caused- boycotting MFC membership isn't one of them, although

if the allegations are correct, I think that here are any number of good reasons not to renew membership, associating with idiots would be the prime one. Firstly Wilson's article doesn't provide any concrete evidence that any criminal activity took place and when carefully analysed it is dubious that the MFC did anything more than take advantage of the rules and conditions the AFL put into place to ensure that the competition didn't become completely lopsided and .lose credibility altogether. Wilson's "yellow Journalism" largely consists of highlighting the nick name given to a tin shed where meetings were held and giving it the status of the Kremlin or Special Branch headquarters and of course seeking the opinions of .disgruntled and ignorant footballers who may have better looked at their own inadequate performance rather than infer that blind Freddy knew what was going on, In all probability this person didn't.

The things that could be done are to make sure that the straw polls that the Age devises so they don't give the outcome the Age wants. I don't recommend replying as it only gives credence to Wilson's venom..The other thing is not to let up in pointing out the behaviour of other clubs such as Richmond Collingwood and Carlton in effecting the same result. The essential inequity of the AFL in arranging fixtures, free riding on our home turf the MCG etc etc. Supporters should pressure the club to ensure that good legal advice is engaged and the AFL know that we will fight this and Demetriou's broad involvement in the whole issue in terms of his continued denial it existed will be highlighted.

Of caurse wwe could ask questions of the futures of anyone involved, if the allegations are anythiong more than that, but that is another issue as it presupposes the MFC's guilt.

Did that at an AGM a few years ago and some jerk pulled the micropohone away when it was getting interesting- Strike that one out

Not great for the players but boycott attendance to away games.

Anything that you pay for to do with football you do directly through the club (guernseys, apparel, merchandise, footballs) as that money goes to the club not the AFL.

A general rally is always good for moral (if enough show up), but practically speaking wouldn't do much. Contrary to what was said above we should be buying more memberships to show support to the club, because if our membership drops the AFL will drop us in Tassie.

An email bomb would always be nice as well, if 20,000 members send the AFL an email of protest that's 20,000 they have to sift through.

For me my first idea would be the easiest, most obvious, and publicly hurt the AFL, but at the same time sad. I love going to see the boys play and going to support them, and would feel sorry for them playing in front of no supporters.

Remember that MFC's board contains QCs.
