A few snippets from the twitterverse in the wake of last night's Casey B&F.

• congratulations to Tom Couch on winning the Gardiner Clarke Medal for club best and fairest. Tom was also runner up in the JJ Liston Trophy after missing a few games while on AFL duties;

• it appears that the large majority of the group are sticking together for 2013 and are a keen to improve on a successful 2012. The club has an exciting future.

• a few key people around the club are leaving. We know Brett Lovett has retired as coach and there is no news yet of his replacement. His long time assistant of nine years, Rob "Rat" Railton is moving on next year to be the senior coach at Wonthaggi and the club wishes him luck in the new position.

• also moving on after five years at Casey is highly respected Head Strength & Conditioning coach Alex Sakadjian who has taken a full time role at Melbourne Football Club as Sport Scientist/Rehabilitation Coach. It's a big job and he will be working with the best in the field in David Misson and Neil Craig already at the club.

I've been curious about Luke Tynan all year. He kept turning up right at the pointy end of Casey's 'best' every week, and now he's come second in the B&F, I just wanted to ask:

What kind of player is he? How much older than Josh is he? Might he be worth looking at with a rookie pick?

The big news from today's State Combine is that Michael Riseley from the Casey Scorpions blew them all away with 15-4 beep test which turns out to be the best of the week including testing of the young guns and internationals.

Mind you, his brother Jeff ran in the London 2012 Olympics so it's in the family!!!

Congrats to one and all especially Couch!

KC Tim Smith..... from the 2-3 games I saw on TV he flashed in and out. He looks like he has something about it but only showed small flashes. What are your/Casey's thoughts on him and where he might lead to? Any chance of AFL in him if he is young enough?

PS here is hoping for another great year from Casey. They have really done very well over the last 4 years especially with MFC injuries, especially at finals time.

    Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

    BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

    Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
