Is Neita Hall of Fame material?

By the time his career is finished, Stephen Milne will have very similar games/goals stats to David Neitz. Would people on here be happy to see Stephen

Milne in the HOF? Probably not. So taking our MFC glasses off, I dont think he stacks up well enough in the league overall to warrant it.

If they re-did Melbourne's all time team, would Neitz make it?

Milne never played Centre Half Back and Nietz never allegedly raped anyone .

Theres two good reasons why tiprat should not be mentioned in the same breath as Nietz.

Neita is absolutely Hall of Fame material.......................every bit the player, if not better than Chris Grant who finds himself inducted!

We too harshly judge our own sometimes...................Neitz was a champion!

Neita deserves consideration, but better than Chris Grant is a huge call. Was effectively a Brownlow medallist and absolute superstar. Played all over the ground and still managed 500+ goals.

While I have some sympathy for your view I have zero doubt that the wider football community considers Grant had the superior career.

Grant really wasnt that good-a shocking shot at goal if the match was close.

The captaincy didn't help.

He underachieved.

Slightly off topic, it's an indictment on the last 40 years of the club that there have been so few Melbourne players even worthy of consideration. A quick look at other clubs 2012 playing lists identifies many likely HoF inductees once they retire - Brisbane (Brown, Black), Geelong (Scarlett, Bartel, maybe Steve J, Enright and Selwood), Sydney (Goodes), Essendon (Fletcher), Carlton (Judd), Hawthorn (Hodge), Fremantle (Pavlich), Gold Coast (Ablett) and many others.

Neitz? Borderline for mine on pure performance but maybe gets in because of the number of games plus number of games as captain plus being awarded AA in two completely different positions.
