AA ruckman doesn't finish in top 10 in Eagles B&F.

Jack Watts just needs some dreadlocks and he should win the Brownlow.

Surely this isn't even a debate is it? Watts is group 3 at Doomben compared to Naitanui.

Welcome Bruce ,to the forum.

The experts have spoken.

Nic nat is AA.

That makes him better than Watts at the moment.

We did make the right decision as Nic nat would have left by now

But there is no doubt in my mind that right now he is the better player.

I bet Kevin Sheedy wishes we picked Naitanui

jack watts will monster the opposition next year as a master accumulator, sweeper and disher-off extraordinaire. So get on him or get off him. NN is a prodigy, heavily weighted with the flair of a one-trick pony. i saw wayne patterson do this in grade six in 1968.

If Watts is Group 3 at Doomben then Ben Hudson must be AA Ruckman and Mitch Clark is Plugger.

I cant explain why .

It just is.

Now here is an interesting stat for the WCE Best and Fairest last night.

Nic Nat finished 10th.

Seems the WCE don't value him the same way that the AA selectors do.

I would have thought an AA player would score better than 10th in a club B&F!

Interesting

The AA Selection Committee is a pipe-smoking, self-congratulating congregation of know-alls who gain their satisfaction by flying in the face of public opinion and anointing their own.

Actually Eric Mckenzie finished 10th... Naitanui didnt even finish in the top 10.. very over rated.

I thought I read he was 10th.

But I will defer to your superior knowledge.

With Hogan and potentially Dawes/Pedersen, I can't see Watts breaking into the forward half as a tall anytime soon. I have faith that he is a prototype wing/outside mid and will continue to thrive in this role. His agility, reasonable pace and remarkable composure through traffic (he always looks like he has plenty of time to get rid of the ball) will make him an excellent player in this mould.

Wow, a month off and this thread is still going strong.

AA to NicNat kinda puts it to bed aye.

Glad to see you are back RR.

All sorts of theories have been around for your absence.

Thank you OldDee. Whichever theory was the most complex and sinister - probably got it right! B)

I believe a little while ago Mick Malthouse called Watts the best rebounding defender in the league, which is ridiculous. As is that article.

Of course it's ridiculous!! The Passenger's opinion is far more spot on than that of Mick Malthouse. Mick Malthouse also commented that Mark Neeld would be a great alternative to himself to coach the Melbourne Football Club. "Of course it's ridiculous"!!

Not finishing in the Eagles B&F top 10 sets off the alarm and wakes it right up again - but then you probably reckon Gerard knows more than the Eagles FD.

yes recall that race. ross dalton met the same fate by a nose on the same day. about nic nat=he does shade Watts ATM and is an absolute freak. if he puts it all together may well yet be the greatest footballer of all time aka Cassius Clay/ boxing analogy. NN is good no doubt about it but ultimately would have gone back west. as you say Watts could well do those things and like you am blown over reading the constant negativity directed at him. Right now it's too close to call if the decison pick one or two we got it right or wrong? doesn't really matter and remember Watts may have been a far superior player at WC surrounded by Cox and Lynch types. two more years and we'll know. Watts also has freakish abilities but still plays with a certain amount of self preservation. Wait till he builds up a little more may still be the next Goddard but better.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
