Neeld takes on the 'but we won 8½ games last year' argument

Recommended Posts

I'm amazed at people who complain about 'excuses'. At the end of this year there will be only 1 club where there are no 'excuses' - the winner of the flag. Every other club will have 'excuses', or 'reasons'.

I'm happy to accept 'reasons' as log as they are reasonable. So far, Neeld's appear reasonable to me. He could easily add in the horror list of distractions and injuries without stretching reasonableness.

Exactly sue. The number of people on this site who don't understand the difference between a reason and an excuse has been a bugbear of mine for years.

Why don't you nominate for the board?

Are we going to hear more Melbourne Reasons?

If Neeld dosnt perform in 2013, dare I say, there will be a clean out of every position from the coaching staff up to board level.

As the concensus has made it clear that Neeld is to be given another opportunity in 2013, he better perform or else nobody's position will be safe. Not the president, nor the board and especially the coaching department.

The time for endless 'reasons' to justify our onfield rot is nearing a climax. 2013 will be very important indeed.

As someone suggested about Primus, I think 2 years is ample time to get an indication of whether the right decisions have been made in recruiting key personell outside the playing group.

Question for you Tonatopia. A very simple one.

Do you want Neeld to succeed? Yes or No.

Well that would be a great answer to a question, just not mine.

Stand for the board.

Unless you can give me some reasons why you cannot.

I am not ready to put up my hand up due to my business being only 5 years old, and I am still nurturing it as a priority. Give me another 5 years when I can appoint a full-time manager of the business and I will enter the political fray, without an excuse in the world.

For someone running a business, you seem to spend an awful lot of time on here talking about football thru the day.

... just saying.

Well that sounds like a good reason to me.

But since the reasons don't exist I guess I have to INSOLENTLY ACCUSE YOU HAVING NOTHING BUT PISSWEAK EXCUSES!!!

RAH!!

I didn't take you for the type to tolerate 5 year plans. You should demand results now, lest you be accused of making excuses.

Well, at least he fell head first into my trap, which was hardly concealed.

Trap? don't take me for a fool.

I Know what it takes to succeed and I don't enter a contest that I know I can't win. Every successful, sustainable endeavor requires enormous levels of commitment. I will not enter the political fray unless I know I have the resources and time to make it work, othewise it is just ego and status.

Sustainability is my philosophy. I am only 34, many good years ahead. Demonland prepares one for dealing with many opinions knowing that you can't please everyone.

Also, this site re-affirms that the consensus is not always correct. You can't change the consensus, you just have to work with it, and sometimes challenge the status quo.

Anyway, we have the saints tomorrow, let's see how we go.

More excuses.

Just excuses.

Excuses is all I hear.

Two years is a short time in footy. New players would have only 20-40 games under their belt. Plus stripping back a dud list takes time. Primus had no time, a crap footy department, key injuries and a dud list to coach. His fate was doomed from the start.

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak
