Say what you want about Col, be disappointed that he isn't Dane Swan or Robert Harvey, but embrace the face he is Col Sylvia. Col is an elite kick, mark and has elite strength. Sure he's not going to get 35+ touches a week, but who in this side ever will?

After breaking his back in the pre season, Col eased into the season and is now again showing how much better he is than anyone else on our list.

Good to see him playing well

Better to see him stringing together a few on the trot, say 7 out of 10 "good" or better games.....then all will be forgiven.

Best a consistent enough season to be in Brownlow contention - he IS capable

I was down on Col for a long time but he is showing something now. But as has been mentioned before, will this be followed by 6 shizen games? The jury is out.

Had three to half time and then ended the game with 3 goals and, 12 possessions, 6 tackles and 7 marks. A reasonable game but all of his goals came when it was over, but a goal is a goal. Still has my backing

In one passage of play during the third quarter a North player received the ball about 60m out and ran forward a few steps to calmly slot a pass inside 50 for a mark and goal. Sylvia was only a couple metres away and just watched. Could have easily tackled or at least put pressure on the pass attempt.

I sat in the front row yesterday, a rarity for me. So I got to watch some players a bit more closely than I normally would (ie. I was bored with what was happening in general play).

Sylvia was one that stood out, for all the wrong reasons. He would make one half chase while trying to keep the ball in the area, and then literally give up. No second let alone

third or fourth efforts. It was appaling to watch, he really is letting down guys like Brad Green, who despite his deteriorated pace in his twilight still ran hard to try and chase every tackle (his slowness never gets him to the player but thats not the point),

I would almost drop Colin after these efforts yesterday, time and time again he did it. But then again I dont know how different it is to a normal game, surely the club doesnt accept these half-efforts every week? His three goals were junk goals, when the game was on the line he was nowhere to be seen.

I noticed at one time he just stopped and watched the opposition player run the ball out of the forward line, there wasn't even a half hearted attempt to chase. I actually thought there must have been something wrong with him but he stayed on so I guess not.

I have watched him closely a lot and sadly it is a common occurance. 2nd and 3rd efforts are lame or non-existent. Does not ever 'give and go' hence never racks up a lot of possies OR help teamates.

Enough is enough for me on Col. All icing and no cake. He will never rise above where he is at now. I thought Neeld would be the one to snap him out of his lethargy but clearly not. He'll look good in a good side but just stands out as a down hill skier at the MFC, and we can't afford passengers.

Hah! Colin was a key to the future years ago, and look at the club now!

We are in this position largely because of people like Col with sh@thouse attitudes and no work ethic, accepting mediocrity with his paycheck. Sure he can do those things that you said but how often does he do it when it counts? No heart, no future at the mfc.

People like Jonesy are the future, someone willing to work hard when the team and club needs him.

A bit tough here, JC - many players take 2 or 3 years to recover from a broken leg (if at all!) Our own Bleaser, Barlow, Brown (Nathan), Lyon took a very long time and Sean Charles never played again. You and I both know it's a very serious injury.

Col should be judged once he gets a proper preseason into him. If he has a season where he has had an uninterrupted run injury wise and still plays like he is just waiting for his next paycheck, then we should look at a trade. I'm not entirely sold on Col. He needs a good season of football behind him, not just a run of five or so games. That being said, his form has been pretty encouraging the last few weeks.

If you locked Sylvia and Moloney in a room together, and told them to try and make their way out to safety, Moloney would point and yell at Sylvia to do something, and Sylvia would shake the door handle a few times, then proceed to call Neeld, promise that next time he'll be way better at this, and that really he is so good he could just blink and open the lock, and have Neeld rush to his aid.
