Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Terrible deal for St Kilda if that actually happened.

Depends; Goddard is free agent so maybe better to trade than sweat on AFL compensation offered.

Carlton salary cap?

For starters McLean is out of contract ($350k) as is Warnock (I think; $400k). On the face of it, that frees up lots of $s.

Goddard is a free agent. Why would Carlton bother trading for him?

That alone makes me discount the whole scenario.

Hmmm.....good point. Depends if Goddard wants to do the right thing by the saints.

Forgot, Goddard is an unrestricted free agent isn't he? ... Cause if he just tried to walk the origonal club can just match the offer?

Unrestricted Free Agents can just walk. It's only for a Restricted Free Agent that the original club can match the offer.

Having said that I'm not sure how that works re: trading an unrestricted free agent. It'd be the same as trading a contracted player wouldn't it? Cause if he just tried to walk the origonal club can just match the offer?

Will be interesting to see how St. Kilda go this off season. Lack of ruckmen and key defenders with aging midfielders and KPF. Wouldn't love to be in their position...

Nope, unrestricted means original club can't just match the offer and keep him. Indeed, a player can go to another club for less $s, but wants to have a crack at a premiership (for example).

Pick 4 is likley to be involved in any trade for a very good player like Boak or Beams. We'd want something in return though. That's where 4 + 13 for Boak + 7 comes in - someone else thought of that before me.

I will be gutted if they trade pick 4.

Tbh, I don't think they're that stupid.

My bad, I meant to say restricted free agent, not unrestricted.

It's my understanding that he's a restricted free agent. And if that is the case, it means there is still some trade value there yeah?

Depends who it's for and whether we get Viney in the 2nd round so still have 3.

I don't really see enough of Boak to rate him but he's an established early pick.

Jack Martin for 3, Boak, pick 7 and Viney could be a reasonable outcome

I am concerned by reports that we're actively looking to trade for other clubs players; and I have heard that Neeld doesn't want to draft too many young players as he thinks the game is getting harder and harder for young players, but I'll be terribly disappointed if we give up picks 3 or 4. I reckon Viney will be drafted with our second round pick and I'd rather young gun mids at 3 and 4 than Boak. Like you, I just haven't seen enough of Toumpas, etc, but my gut tells me that I'd rather Toumpas than Boak.

Martin looks like he'll be a freak, but I wouldn't want to give up 3 or 4 for him a year early.

There will always be supporters that worry about getting another Morton at 4, but I don't roll like that. I assume we'll get it right and the top end talent in this draft looks terrific, even if the idea of it being a superdraft is being watered down. Having the choice of the entire field after the first two picks appeals greatly. I want A graders. Boak may become one, but right now he's a B grader and I find it unfathomable having now watched a few games of the champs that we'd give up pick 4 on a player that's presently B grade.

I'd just about give up.

I think we have just as much chance getting the player we want with pick 7 as pick 4, but I still think it's a long shot that it would happen.

And even if St Kilda could engineer some sign-and-trade deal with Goddard, why would they do it for scraps, when they could let him go as an unrestricted free agent and get a better return (likely equivalent compo to what we got for Scully, or close to it)?

More importantly, why would the club signing him agree to give up anything when they could just sign him for free?

Why would Goddard want to weaken his new club by making them trade pieces out?

Anyone thinking about trying to get Beams should forget it. He is a fair weather footballer.

I'm not too sure what Boak is like, but from what I have seen a few years back, he seemed explosive and penetrating.

Current rumor going around work at the moment, and if true it means we wont get Boak.

Rumor going around is that Port Adelaide, Geelong, St. Kilda & Carlton have already struck an in principle agreement that will see Boak go to Geelong, Dawson Simpson & the Ablett compensation pick go to St. Kilda, Goddard go to Carlton and Russell and Carltanks first round pick to Port Adelaide. Discussion of swapping lower picks ongoing.

Don't know how reliable, but that's what I've heard today. I hate to say it, but this is a friend of a friend scenario.

That sounds very detailed & believable. It's bit too intricate for most IMO to imagine up. This detail would take a lot of discussion.

I believe it.

That sounds pretty stupid, highly doubt Port would let Boak go for that both our picks will be higher than theirs. Plus Boak would earn bigger coin at Melbourne than Geelong. If we want class we must give up something Melbourne must stop being tight and get the best.

We'd have to make him want to come to Us. Otherwise we have NO Hope.

Our biggest weapon Is $$$$$$$$$$

I think Carltank are on an all out a$$ault to get another Flag from the next 3 $eason$, & will stop at nothing to get it done.

They are the ones we need to stop.

I understand that Boak has probably played his last game for Port. Boak apparently performed poorly in interviews after Port was beaten badly in the SA derby. On several occasions he was asked to confirm his loyalty but all he did was confirm he has his eyes on Melbourne clubs. He could only muster "I'm happy playing here at the moment", and said many other things suggesting he had made a decision to leave.

I also understood that Boak has a foot injury that requires surgery and would prefer to leave the club now, have surgery and be back ready for day 1 of pre-season training with his new club.

Port now see the chances of Boak staying as zero and it is likely Primus will ask him to clean out his locker this week.

Boak has made it clear he wants to move back to Melbourne for "family reasons" preferably to Geelong. However, Port owes Boak nothing and will thus take the highest bidder of any Victoria based club.

Melbourne are in a position to offer far more than any other club to both in terms of picks to Port and financially to Boak should we decide he is our man.

I'm not sure where you got your mail from but it is simply not correct. Go to the Port website and watch the said interview. Not much else he could have said under the circumstances. And to say he owes Port nothing??? Well nothing can be further from the truth. If he decides to leave he will ensure that they are looked after.

Boak's teammates are confident he will stay. Time will tell.

Now where have I heard that before?

He's gone. Hopefully we make a decent play for him. Pick 13 and Tapscott would be a fair-ish deal.

Read the attached link. Boak was grilled at dinner last night by the Port boys. Jackson Trengove said in his presser this morning that he thought Boak would end up staying. Probably a bit optimistic, but far from bags being packed by the end of the week as was stated in the opening post.

If he doesnt want to play for us then I couldnt care less what he does.

He's possibly another Scully who lies to his club...

Theres many factors as to why he doesnt want to say anything to Port....

1) If he says he's leaving Port.... chances are they wont play him....and he will be crucified..This isnt rugby where they dont give a sh&% about players leaving. AFL is full of passion with supporters.

2) If leaving is the case they wont play him & he wont get game time.

3) If he doesnt get game time he will lose match payments & match fitness & value as a player..

4) If he says he's leaving before being out of contract.... then Port will trade him where they see fit...he will have no say in it. (Correct me if I am wrong)

5) If he shuts up until he is out of contract he can go where he wants in the draft(Correct me if I am wrong also)

6) If he continues to be quiet on the issue his honesty/integrity will be questioned by all just like Scully...do we want another dishonest player at MFC even if he wants to come to us....just for the $$$???

I'm not a fan of him really, so I dont really pine for a player like him...I want a midfielder who is a star not an average good player like Boak.

In saying that I would take him but not for a massive coin contract...so I hope the Demons do their homework first..

Unfortunately the 'system' forces players to conceal things from all but the closest people to them and their manager.

Scully's bags were packed in Nov, 2010 despite the offerings of Jones, Trengove, Blease and co throughout 2011.

Surely we are all grown up enough that people can feel they can speak the truth. Ridiculous.

IF, I hear what I think your saying, then Only, (Mid1st Rnd Pick) + 600$$$$$$$-00's,,, + a Player of some standing if required?

Not our Top Picks (3 & 4), at all !!!

What else are Port going to say publically? I can confirm that Port are seriously considering asking him to clear his locker this week. Jackson Trengrove and other players are right to cross examine Boak after his interesting public performance post the match. Don't really think you can go on what is said in an internal Port Adelaide interview posted on their website. Personally I beleive everything I read on the internet!!!!!!! Not.

Get him!

Proven goal kicking midfielder who would thrive from the hard work of Magner and McKenzie.

Did I mention he was proven? Whilst the kids this year in the draft may look good, remind me how our history of using high draft picks has turned out again..

We need mature age, plug and play. Boak is that. If we can get it done with our mid first round and a player, do it. If not pick 4 wouldn't bother me.

So you'll understand if we take what you say with a grain of salt...

I personally believe Boak will come back to Victoria. This situation has Scully written all over it. But I'd be hugely surprised if he didn't see the season out. And even more surprised if Travis didn't ensure that Port were looked after in terms of a trade. He seems like a loyal young man who is wants to return home, but will find it hard to leave his teammates.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
