Reminds of David Schwarz in the 90s. Hope he can get back up. It was the right knee this time as well.

GEELONG forward Daniel Menzel appears to have gone down with another serious knee injury in his return match from the cruciate ligament tear he suffered late in the 2011 season.

Menzel was playing for the Cats' VFL team against North Ballarat at Simonds Stadium on Saturday morning when the injury occurred.

It was his first competitive hit-out since he needed a knee reconstruction after going down in last year's qualifying final win over Hawthorn.

A final call on whether Menzel needs his left knee reconstructed will not be known until he sees a surgeon in the coming days.

"Not right knee but left knee which hasn't been pre-injured. Still working through this. No confirmation on extent," said a tweet from the Cats at 12.25pm.

This really sucks - don't whether it's better or worse that it's his other knee this time. Schwarz was the first thing to come to my mind as well, Menzel was looking like he would be a gun before going down last year.

it sucks. I dont care who they play for when I hear of a young bloke doing his second knee in two years you have to feel for him. I'd still take him if Geelong don't want him.

Other knee wasn't it? It would be terrible either way but at least mentally he might be able to make something of it being the same knee.

    Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning.     A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session.
