Schwab's shock resignation

Featured Replies

You spelt his name wrong, DC.

And I had read that article before reading your headline - and I still believed you - such is the rollercoaster of the MFC...

Oh, and don't do that!

only 17 days late

According to Caroline Wilson in The Age this morning McLardy wants our Schwab to stick around after his 31st October contract cut off. Don't know what to think about that.

I pressed "like this", because it's the closest thing to "dislike this" that there is.

Interesting to see the Webjet FoJ deal was worth "almost $1m".

I can see you're going to have a field day on that topic. Maybe field-year.

With the reported $500k we received already from EW perhaps we have a $1m for 2012 plus options for $3m over the following two years?

Has anyone at the club ever confirmed Caroline Wilson's ongoing assertion that Camerson Schwab was to be ousted just before Bailey was instead. She's written about it and talked about it many times and I honestly believe she believes it to be true. But is it? But has anyone else ever confirmed it to be the case?

Well HT, the amount of sh!t I had to put up with on that particular topic, and the number of personal remarks I received, I think I'm within my right to have a dig here and there. Heck, even Schwab had a go at people with the same opinion as me - did he not say that he was glad some of us weren't negotiating on behalf of the Club?

Have wondered the same thing. CW has always been ready to go hard at Cameron ever since KB was sacked.

Would be lovely RPFC, and I would hope that the Club seriously considers that if it were the case. Wouldn't get any complaints from me.

Is it something that we think the Club should publicly address? Just a question to raise, I am not sure of where I stand regarding her constant reporting of such an event. It really is getting tiresome. The annoying part is that you can't leave comments on her articles to challenge it.

The only way to address it is for Cameron to do an A1 job as CEO. If Mclardy wants him to stay on then we can only hope it is for the right reasons.

If a 2nd sponsor is named soon then CW's words can be treated with a hint of disdain.

Agree - it seems to be her mission but I seem to recall others including Sheehan seem to have accepted it.

I found the Age article curious. Is there a posibility that McLardy is applying the "Kiss of Death" to Schwab?

How the hell do you get that out the article??

Because as the cliches goes - 'having the full support of the board' is usually followed by the sack...

But I will remind Jackie that usually the board isn't discussing re-signing said person as McLardy intimated with those quotes.

Well, it's also usually when a CEO or manager is under great media pressure and supporter base is calling for his sacking.

No media sh%tstorm to be seen here. Not currently anyway.

And like you said, this isn't a statement of support, this is a suggestion of a contract extension.

I have quite a few mates who follow Fremantle and they are scolding of their criticism of Cameron Schwab

Still yet to tell me why in concrete examples

I have had a similar experience with Freo supporters I know. I have to say it's made me very sceptical of him.

Just remember though, the ones who do the unpopular jobs, cop the flak for their difficult job...

Not saying what sort of job he's doing, probably a good job, but we should not stop looking out for the elite.

Haha evidently based on no fact whatsoever, other than other some Freo supporters having a vague dislike for him...

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
