Trengove - inability to inspire

Grimes - succumbed to pressure

Jones - can stand tall

Bartram - loose and careless

Watts - just a game

Bate - had little effect

Frawley - had Riewoldt's measure

Morton - surprisingly poor attitude

Clark - only mediocre performance

McKenzie - probably on field

Dunn - made an impact

Garland - continued disappointing season

McDonald - still learning game

Rivers - no key defender

Seller - had some moments

Martin - a headless chook

Tapscott - was rarely sighted

Davey - tried but failed

Howe - a continued success

James - tried but lacking

Bravo!

Although i thought Clark was good, and again had to make the most out of limited opportunities and/or atrocious delivery.

Agree. Made two errors but always looked dangerous and was certainly putting defensive pressure on the opposition.

And FWIW, I am not sure Davey effort was fully there at all. Poor form and worse body language.

I would have thought there were about 16 "Had no impact"

Mediocre? Clark has been worth every one of those considerable number of pennies so far. I feel sick just thinking about what we'd look like without him at the moment.

100%!!

The poor bloke isn't getting enough every forward movement they plonk in on his head while he has 3 people around him. All correct bar Clark who I would have had as tried, yet clumsy.

Pretty good effort, joeboy.

Pretty harsh on Martin and McKenzie, who is working his way back into some kind of form. Also, Watts and Clark where probably a little better than mediocre. And, I thought Howe deserves some more superlatives; a really fantastic game in a mostly insipid side.

In what world did Frawley beat Reiwoldt? JR kicked 1.3 with two OOTF. If he was kicking straight that would have been 6 goals. None of them were overly difficult chances.

I agree, and this is a common mistake with footy watchers. A defender's success can't be measured on how accurate their opponent kicks. Riewoldt also ran off him quite a bit and set up some goals. I still thought Frawley did alright though

Just thought i'd add my two cents about Howe, who came in for a lot of praise from the commentators on Saturday. Yes there are some real positives about his game, but his disposal has been very ordinary. I noticed it early on Saturday, but given the praise he received, I went to the stats to see if my eyes were deceiving me.

AFL website puts his stats so far this year as 17.7 disposals a game running at 57% efficiency. On Saturday he got the ball 24 times, but had 50% efficiency.

In contrast, the 5 other highest possesion winners so far this season have been Jones (72%), Magner (59%), Trengove (70%), McKenzie (67%) and Watts (81%). Magners game in Perth really effected his stats, and he is only playing his 3rd game.

I think he can turn it around but I am a bit over the rose coloured glasses being put on. I hate reading and hearing guys like Bartram and Jones continually get whacked for bad disposal (Bartram has averaged 12.0 at 78%) while others get talked up.
