Leigh Matthews does not rate Mitch as forward

Featured Replies

Mitch Clark kicked 5 goals last week. Ben Hudson is dropped this week. Do people still regard Matthew's opinion too highly?

Assume Matthews doesn't do twitter but if he did it would be an avenue.

Gary Lyon bringing up that Hudson was dropped, then points out that he was meant to be a better recruit than Clark according to Leigh Mathews hahahaha

nice work Gaz

-asked it as a question to, without really making the big deal about it, just with a soft tone in his voice......made me quite happy

"wasnt he meant to be a better recruit than Mitch Clark?"

Brereton says Clark has all the skills to be a good key forward. He knows a thing or two.

I think most of us lost some respect for Matthews when he had a go at Jack Watts after his second game. Having a crack at an 18yr old in his 2nd game when he kicks a couple of goals and takes some handy marks.

Now he is saying that Clark will not be as good a recruit as Hudson is just ridiculous. Hudson will be lucky to play 10 games for the lions before he retires for a second time and Mitch will be with us for the next 6-8 years.

Sometimes these old commentators make stupid comments to seem relivent...you can say the same thing about Malthouse.

Matthews is an old man now and has always been a Melbourne hater!

John kennedy taught all of Hawthorn to hate us. Tiger Ridley stoked an old fire 35 years later. They still hate us now.

Wasn't Matthews a mentor to Dean Bailey during his tenure? Or am I getting confused...

He was indeed.

Now we know who to blame for our woes last year!

I think he would know and more I think Leigh was just making controversy.

A bit off topic, and I may be wrong... but I think I heard/read somewhere that he actually was a Melbourne supporter as a kid.

well if that's true it just proves he's senile

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
