i'm no keyboard hero, i try and avoid abusing or denigrating other peoples opinions on these boards.

if i have sonething along those lines to say i make sure i'm prepared to say it to their face.

and yes, i did question col's motivation when last speaking to him and also asked why he hasn't been in the leadership group.

so i'm happy to meet you outside the g sometime this year and you can tell me what you really think.

coward

The private message you sent me begs to differ.

as i said, happy to meet

I notice you said "and yes, i did question col's motivation when last speaking to him and also asked why he hasn't been in the leadership group" - out of interest, what was his response?

...and on the running dispute with SmcF... nyuk! nyuk! nyuk! :-)

I don't want to interfere here, but just keep in mind the Code of Conduct (a sticky on the main board) and try not to bully people.

As sincere as we may think we are - text changes what we mean, so take care when you PM someone.

Some interesting reading looking through these posts, we can get a much clearer insight into Neeld's approach now and also see how some of the players stood up whilst many others have fallen by the wayside.

Silvia is an interesting one for me and Neeld has really put the acid on him at times this season particularly playing him as a defensive forward on occasion just to see if he could do a team job. So far he has passed the test.

# Green to retire. Spot on

# Davey to be traded if he continues to sulk. Pulled his finger out and started working harder.

# Rivers, X roads this year Did really well all year and moved on to look for a premiership

# Sylvia, X roads this year Got over his early injuries and played some of his best football this year

# Morton, X roads this year Failed to get his act together and was given away basically for free so we wouldn't have to keep him for another year

# Bennell, X roads this year Was given plenty of chances, but couldn't bring himself to attack the ball

# JMac, X roads this year Took on more responsibility in the backline and did well with Rivers and Garland forward

# Dunn, X roads this year New role in back six suited him. Cemented a spot in the 22.

# Bate, X roads this year Tried hard but couldn't produce at AFL level. Worth the experiment but a failure in the end.

as I see it.

Very interesting this post. Hit the nail pretty firmly on the head.

Thanks RM, I've also posted elsewhere that I wanted Jurrah traded & Bennell traded out, & Jetta to be kept on, as I see Jetta a likely small who have a dip.

Jetta, in a gamestyle which suits him, I think will start to shine as he receives more appreciation & starts to believe.

Malcolm Blight along with Mick Malthouse are mentors to Mark Neeld. When Blight took over at Adelaide he delisted, not traded 4 senior players (McGuiness, McDermott, Jarman, Anderson), all champions of the club who bled whatever colors they have. If he were to walk into the Melbourne FC what would he do, who would he delist, who would he trade. Remember to trade you need something of value, not players past there prime you are thinking of delisting or the top up players spending most of their time at Casey.

If we get more performances like yesterday it becomes an issue, I think it already is in Neeld's eye as there was one little comment he made in his press conference, when asked if the performance really surprised him he said "NO".

My guess is there will be a number of senior players delisted at the end of this season and in the coaches turn of phrase "fair enough". There will also be a few that can't handle the heat in the Neeld kitchen who will go, "fair enough", and there will be some traded to help build a better list "fair enough". I've made my thoughts known on some of our senior players on other threads so won't labour the point here but one thing is for sure is that the list will have a very different look next season.

Would you like a Blight approach to our list? or are we too precious about our boys? Like it or not we have the Neeld approach for the next 3 years minimum and I think we are in for an interesting ride, very interesting.

LIVE AND LET DIE by Meggs

The Demons’ impressive late season charge to finals will most likely come unstuck this Saturday evening when the Bombers blow up the also-ran Blues in the Ikon Park double-header.   To mangle McCartney, what does it matter to ya? To have any chance to play next week Narrm has got a job to do and needs to do it well.  We’ve got to give the Pie sheilas hell, say live and let die! It’s Indigenous Round for this game and the chance to celebrate and engage with Aboriginal and Torres

2024 Player Reviews: #35 Harry Petty

Failed to fulfill the promise of his breakout six goal effort against the Tigers in 2023 and was generally disappointing as a key forward. It remains to be seen whether Simon Goodwin will persevere with him in attack or return him to the backline where he was an important cog in the club’s 2021 premiership success. 2024 Player Reviews: #22 Blake Howes

After a bright start to the season, playing mostly in defence, Howes seemed to lose his way in midseason but fought back with some good performances at Casey and finished the year back at AFL level. One to watch in 2024. Date of Birth: 7 March 2003 Height: 191cm Games MFC 2024: 15 Career Total:  15 Goals MFC 2024: 0 Career Total:  0 Games CDFC 2024: 6 Goals CDFC 2024: 0

Originally an NBL basketballer with the Brisbane Bullets, he moved across town in 2019 to the AFL Lions where he played 19 games before crossing to Melbourne where he was expected to fill a role as a back up ruckman/key forward. Unfortunately, didn’t quite get there although he did finish equal sixth in Casey’s best and fairest award. Date of Birth: 23 February 1999 Height: 198cm Games CDFC: 14 Goals CDFL: 13

Sadly, had to wrap up a great career in midstream on the back of multiple concussions which culminated in the Maynard hit in the 2023 Qualifying Final. His loss to the club was inestimable over and above his on field talent given his character and leadership qualities, all of which have been sorely missed. The son of former Demon Brownlow Medalist Shane, Taj added a further 16 games to his overall tally of games but a number were as substitute. He is slowly fitting into the team structure but without doing anything spectacular and needs to take further steps forward in 2025 for his career to progress. The clever small was unable to cement a place in the Melbourne midfield and spent most of his time this year with the Casey Demons where he finished equal fourth in its best & fairest.
