$cully fit and ready to go

It has been reported in the HUN, The Age, Foxtel and the Sydney HUN that the fragile one is fighting fit and ready to go and is pushing for a senior leadership position.

Amazing transformation for one with such a deblitating knee injury and who displayed the leadership qualities of a wet sponge last season.

Perhaps he made a New Year's resolution to not suffer from knee soreness anymore.

It's funny, I thought I'd feel sick every time I saw a photo of Scully, heard his name, or read a newspaper article, but rather than vomit a little in my mouth, or contend with silent rage, I'm remarkably ambivalent about the rodent.

And it feels good. Maybe I'll feel different when he's running around on the footy field, but I don't think so.

He's still way too skinny to be an influential midfielder going by that photo. And as far as being captain, that may be an issue. How can your captain be a skinny little 3rd year runt player with about 30 games experience? Based on stamina/running ability alone? I'm not talking out of sour grapes and I don't think I've ever posted anything or even bothered reading many Scully threads. But I find it remarkable from a purely logical point of view that he would even be considered for captain. I know this is only media spin, but c'mon. Power would be a much better choice for a season until someone like Scully proves he can actually play the game and play it consistently.

Love the picture in the Hun. The caption from watts could read " Beamer asked me to pass on a message. When we play you he is going to tear you a new one" .

nice haircut. He's really going to mix in well in blacktown.

You got a link to the pic?

Of course he is fit and ready to go. They paid enough for him, you do not spend $6mill on junk.

In comparison $cully's wage at melbourne was loose change.

After October 2010 he was "advised" to go easy and the MFC to suck it up (or words to that effect).

If it was infact anydifferent i would be genuinely astounded. But we will know more in about 2 months won't we.

How did you get that to happen Ben-Hur - I need help?!!! Every time I hear of his name, see a photo of him, or even think about him, it's like I'm staring in to the eyes of a bad man, a very bad man!

He was my late father's favourite player (who went to his grave believing that we would all be cheering for $cumbag for years to come), he had the potential to captain our club to a premiership, and give me and my children the opportunity to witness one of the best players to wear the red & blue, but he took the money and ran. He wiped us, he treated us with no respect at a time that from a Club's point of view was one of its darkest hours, and personally, when a few things in my life weren't going to how the book says it will I was clinging to the hope that maybe, just maybe this is the best chance of a premiership that I've seen.

I will move on one day, but it may take 5 years, it may take 10 years. My opinion of his football ability has not changed, and god forbid, if he were to reach the levels that I believe he is more than capable of, it will be heartbreaking. The only thing that will mend a broken heart is a MFC premiership, after that I couldn't give a $hit what he does. Until then, he is a big reason that we haven't won one.

Still can't help making the comparison between $ and Gary Ablett Jnr. Similar controversy and circumstances but not character. Gary went out with a bang and played out one of his best seasons for the cats as a parting gift. Still a favorite son down there after the initial hurt of his departure. We end up with a season of lies and malingering that humiliated the club and supporters.

I have trouble with everyone's extreme anger at Scully.

He had no say who drafted him, after 2 years he could go to GWS because the AFL set it up that way and the clubs missed it when they agreed to the recruiting plan for GWS.

So the AFL and the MFC were responsible for the situation that allowed him to go to GWS.

Scully chose the money over the MFC.

We have some compension in draft picks.

Beyond that we have a guy that may have been dishonest during 2011.

But most of the AFL clubs have a large amount of dishonesty in their dealings so why is Scully such a [censored] he has learnt from experts.

Lying is the second language of the AFL.

We were probably able to recruit Clarke because Scully went. In the end that may be a better deal for the MFC

Lets all get over it, the guy has gone

Onward and upward for the Dees

So what if it takes some longer to get over it than others? Most of us on here live and breath the MFC, that's why we read these forums. We all have favourite players, and will all react differently when they come and go. I for one was quite relieved when Jnr Mc got the tap on the shoulder, while others are still going on about it. I had a week of mourning when the Wiz left, and even now I still miss the little fella and hated watching him play against us. But alas, we move on, it's just some things are harded to move on from than others.

It is not so much the time frame that worries me billy it is the extreme anger that some still roll out at every chance.

I can understand that in October but it is now close to the end of January, time to concentrate on the guys in our team.

Try telling that to Carlton supporters when the used to play against Geelong, and in particular, Milburn.

For some people, a sporting team is a massive part of their lives. For a variety of reasons, they may have not much else to look forward to other than the weekends game. It's a ruthless industry, when you believe the Club has shafted a player, you get upset with the Club, but you'll always show up next weekend. But when it's a player that shafts the Club, and we're not talking just a player, he was rated the best draft pick in his year, and a player that we had high hopes that would help end our premiership drought, it does make it hard not to be angry, especially when our team would be better with him in it.

I've never seen a premiership, a lot of people on here haven't either. It eats me inside as each year passes that I haven't seen one. I'm not more hungry for a flag than anyone in here, but noone is more hungry than I am either. I'm not angry with $cummy, I understand his rea$on$, but that doesn't mean I will ever forget what he did to the Melbourne Football Club, my Club.

It was the lying straight down the camera O.D. It was the silence, it is the dodgy knee that stopped him playing in 2011 that many on here do not believe it is nearly as bad as we were "told". $cully was always allowed to go, the manner by which he did it still stinks and will for a while yet.

All you say may be true but if you going on hating it consumes you.

My father was on the Kokoda track in 1942, for years he would not allow anything made in japan in our house not even a cheap toy .

By the 80,s he had a Japanese Car, TV and numerous other items.

When I pursued him on the subject he said "How long can you go on hating".

Live goes on, I have had my quota of hate it was making me as bad as the people I hated".

Put it all behind you guys, the MFC is more than one person.

Until we, the MFC as a group, can show that we don't need him, and that a premiership is won, a number of supporters won't put it behind them. We have been starved of success, and I want to see that hunger in the eyes of our players. I want the players to show as much passion for this Club as we all have, and will forever show.

My insides still simmer as he chose a completely different path to Ablett. Ablett gave and said zip zero nil nadda through the year. Scully to my mind answered every question put him at his press conference. He looked us in the eye and answered about no contact being made or of a signing taken place. He answered how he could say no to big money and he stated that he wants to be a one club player and thats what he anticipated happening. As far as I am concerned that once those statements were made - hen there were no backing away from them.

This year, I anticpate that both Deledio and Goddard ( and whoever else is in the gun) will have learned from the Scully departure and will give nothing to the media about their intentions ( unless it is to say they have re-signed with their clubs) They will stay or they will go but I dont think we will see another March press conference from a GWS target ( or a free agency target) with pronouncements made of the Scully ilk.

Time for the AFL and the clubs to grow up and move to the NRL system of players being 100% professional and let players speak up when they have signed with another club. It may take a few years of coaches still saying I wont play a player who is leaving but I suspect quite quickly a club will play a leaving player because it may mean the difference between winning or not winning a premiership ( aka Pendlebury)

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
