Just watched the Jim Stynes media conference online re the No. 11 announcement. He's done amazingly well to get this far re his health, but crikey he's beginning to look frail. The Age reports he's had some good news re the Jimmy Dancer, so fingers crossed. The bloke's got incredible determination.

FWIW, James Seller tweeted:

"@sellardoor28 Given guernsey #30 first worn by M Maguire 1912; Peter Moore won a brownlow in it in '84 and more recently worn by S Godfrey @melbournefc"

All power to you Jim.

Any word on Taggert and Tynan's jumper numbers? Or any changes? Blease is #17 now isn't he?

Absolutely! Great to read that there are some small positives with the new medication.

love it if clark could play his next 200+ games consecutive in the hallowed #11

Blease has confirmed that he is wearing 17. A nice gesture to allow him wear the number of his late father.

I think Mitch Clark has quickly learnt what a great person Jim is and how highly regarded he is around not only melbourne but the city of melbourne. Im sure he will wear the number with pride.

It also

seems Calrk has been told by neeld he will be a permanent foward. At least that will give Jurrah and WAtts some help. Just hope we arent ot Clark conscious,

Glad to see Jim down there. Good news that one of the tumours has shrunk by 1/2 but now the poor guy has to have another op on the brain. How much more can the brain take. It sounds like the doctors said nothing more we can d, Luckily they found somehting though. I remember at the start of last year Jim said he just wanted to get to christmas. Well it looks like he will see another one. Keep going Jim!

Good to see Blease getting #17.

I can't remember the last decent player to wear #17

Kelvin Clark comes to mind, but I know I'm going to get shot down in flames for forgetting the 90's a bit.

C'mon put me on track again. Was it BL?

Thanks for the link.

I thought as much.

For some reason I thought Denis Clark (Boner) was No.12

The mind slips the older you get.

I do remember Denis Clark in his early years had number 38( I think) before it changed.Think he played either as a forward pocket/rover and wing before making the back pocket his own..does this square with others memories? I remember Kelvin Clarke impressing in his first game(s) with a couple of smart goals before a bad knee injury. We both must go back a fair way! Some good memories of back then! :)

Clarke, Bleeze, Maloney, Pettered

I guess we should be given some leeway, but just a few weeks, max start of season, on the new boys Clark and Sellar.

But Maloney in particular drives me nuts.

If Seller can be half the player of the great Simon Godfrey, then we've got one heck of a player up our sleeve!

I can't remember any post Brett Lovett.

Other than that, it has been a pretty lean number after the promising start with two greats, Bert Chadwick and Allan La Fontaine in the 1920s.

It was I think retired for a few years post Brett - gutsy and great vision.

This bloke must have been some sort of player . Did just about everything . Late starter as well .

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
