What's/how is Gysberts going

How is Evans going

How is Grimes going

Just for good measure how is Howe going

What was the session ie skills or endurance any game plan work

Who is designated to what groups eg forwards mids backs

Pictures would be good

Thanks in advance.

Blease, Sylvia, Davey, Cook and Lawrence please! Not asking for much.

But seriously if you can get along and give us as much as possible it would be greatly appreciated. Any little bit, no matter the accuracy is gold this time of year. Hope its a tough sess

I popped past this morning. Grimes, Spencer, Ricky Bobby, Jordie, Davey running laps as part of rehab. The International Rules guys were also doing light jogging up and down the ground. Mitch Clark continues to have a one-on-one program - looks to be focusing on his running technique. He must be getting pretty board.

The main group was doing repeat 250's I would say - running in pairs. Jones and Bail together, both looking really strong.

Morton and T Mac second group off. Watts and Bate - the master's endurance was kicking in late in the repeats.

I was very impressed with Col Garland who was running with Rivers but time and again was making strong ground on Bennell/Bartram ahead of him.

Gysberts and Blease were together as one of the back pairs and both looked as uncomfortable as the other.

Anyone know why Petterd, McKenzie and Davey are in the rehab group? Obviously McKenzie had OP early last year but I thought he was over it, same with Davey, I thought he was ready to go for preseason. Petterd never seems to make it out of the rehab group.

I gather all 3 are moving pretty well, so I'd like to see them rejoin the main bunch soon. Same goes for Grimes - slow and steady obviously but it's been a good few months now. That said I'm not worried about him because he keeps a high level of fitness.

I know Cook had end of season surgery on a hip and Mitch Clark had a knee clean out I believe. Obviously Strauss and Spencer are coming back from LTI I'm just hoping we can get as many numbers doing as much as possible.

Others on restricted programs for an unknown cause - ?Tapscott, ?Sylvia, ?Jetta

Is it unprofessional to throw Jurrah in the deep end, or is it time to really test him out and work him hard?

OP is one of those things that needs to be carefully managed. Trust the club on this one, they are probably just easing those who had had any sign of OP in the past into a long season..

Yeah, Gawn is looking like a legitimate Man Mountain this season. Very good to see. Jamar looked tiny next to him.

I also thought that Morton didn't look overly skinny, although he was running next to a guy who is about to start his second season, so that could account for it. Even so, this last year or so he has built his body up quite a bit and at least looks solid if not muscular.

I have the sense that we'll be seeing a whole lot of running before the Christmas break, so we'd better get used to it.

I dropped in for 15 min and thought the same thing. He is a massive unit! Jamar couldn't stay with him either in those sprints.

Tommy Mac impressed me again. He's obviously got a huge tank.

Watts is starting to look quite solid :)

I managed to pop in at training this morning. It was a perfect morning to train.

I will give a quick run down on all players present.

• Bail - Did the entire session, was in 1st running group with Jones, looked very fit.

• Bartram - Did the entire session, running with Bennell, was burning him off in the last few.

• Bate - Did entire session, running with Watts, even for first 4, last 4 he was beating him by 5-10m, looks fit and determined.

• Bennell - Did entire session, running with Bartram, looks quite good.

• Blease - Did entire session, running with Gys and Davis, was pushing really hard, has the pace just not endurance yet. All 3 of them were noticably slowing down towards the end.

• Clark - Ran slow laps on his own, has very thin legs.

• Cook - Ran medium paced laps on his own, was getting lots of encouragement from the players and some technique training from one of the fitness guys.

• Davey - Ran medium paced laps with Jurrah at the start, but left him behind. Not that Flash was moving too quick himself. Did some kicking later on in the session but not with the main group.

• Davis - Did entire session, ran with Blease and Gys, all 3 were really trying, just not the base of the other guys yet.

• Dunn - Seemed to drift in and out as he pleased, bit like in a game! Did not do any of the 150m sprints, but some shorter stuff on the Collingwood side of the oval, once ball work started he was keen as mustard.

• Fitzpatrick - Did not see him.

• Frawley - Run some laps with Green, Trengove and Moloney. Joined in main session ball work. Looked happy to be back.

• Garland - Did entire session, ran with Rivers, was beating him in all the sprints, seemed to be moving very well.

• Gawn - Did entire session, ran with Jamar, beat him comfortably over the last 4, really pushes himself and seems to have improved his running style.

• Grimes - Ran laps on his own, but at a really good pace. Did quite a bit of short kicking with Petterd. Must only be the fitness guys holding him back.

• Gysberts - Same as Blease.

• Howe - Did entire session, ran with Martin, they were prefectly matched and pushed each other the whole way. So far more advanced than last year. Looks like he just loves being part of it all.

• Jamar - Did entire session, Ran with Gawn. As I said, was drifting behind toward the end, but is moving freely.

• Jetta - Did not see him.

• Jones - Did entire session, ran with Bail, just loves the hard stuff, its a real credit to him because he does not have the natural body shape or technique that most of the others do but just pushes the hardest! The young guys must look up to him.

• Jurrah - Did some slowish laps, never seems to push himself, spent alot of time talking to one of the female training staff, left the track early. (not injured).

• Macdonald - Did entire session, Ran with Nicho and these boys both really pushed each other. Like Jones they love the hard stuff.

• Martin - Did entire session, ran hard with Howe, looks really good for a big fella.

• McDonald - Did entire session, ran in the 2nd group with Morton, they both move well with little effort. A credit to himself how he has presented for pre-season.

• McKenzie - Was on the same program as Grimes. Looks very fit. Running his laps hard.

• Moloney - Bit like Dunn, drifted in and out, did not do the 150m sprints, joined in the with IR rules guys for a while, then did all skills session.

• Morton - Did entire session, ran with McDonald, just needs to keep pushing himself to places he doesn't know exist!

• Petterd - Was on the same program as Grimes and McKenzie, running freely and kicking easily. So no concerns.

• Rivers - Did entire session, ran with Garland, was falling behind but not through lack of effort.

• Spencer - The big guy ran alot of laps! Was kicking with McKenzie at the end, did not join in main skills session.

• Strauss/Sylvia/Tapscott - Only out brifly doing stationary handballing drills. Strauss did stay out a little longer to have a kick with one of the fitness guys, was only allowed 10 kicks on each leg though. Seems to be moving really freely considering what happened.

• Trengove - Same as Chip and Green.

• Watts - Did entire session, ran with Bate, pushed himself, but dropped back a little, no shame as I thought Bate was flying. He looks alot better without the mop of hair he had in the 2nd half of the year. Watched him closely with the forwards, he is turning into a real leader in that group. Punished himself if he missed a target and was always asking Leigh Brown questions. He wants success.

• Green - Same as Chip and Trenners.

• Evans - The boy ran alot of laps! Did some one on one kicking but did not join in the main skills session.

• Lawence - Did not see him.

• Nicholson - Ran with JMac, this kid moves well on the track. Like with Howe just loves being out there.

Overall I was quite impressed with where the group was at, with only a few guys not doing any meaningful running or kicking.

I went to training today and I will leave the report to Freak. However, news above was correct. The players I deemed missing were:

Jetta, Strauss, Fitzpatrick, Sylvia, Tapscott & Lawrence whilst in rehab or doing light work were: Clark, Cook, the 3 that played the Irish, Green, Frawley, Tapscott. Jurrah did a very light session running half laps. McKenzie, Petterd, Spencer - I'll leave it to others to fill in the other aspects.

Thanks Bub,

I'll do that a bit later. Anyway, I took one for the demonland team today and strolled down to Gosch's paddock to watch training. Unfortunately, I couldn't spot Jack Viney who is now going to be known as the phantom as he is one of the only players at the championships not to have a dedicated youtube clip. And now with his no-show at training I'm still yet to see how he kicks the ball. Anyway, other absentees were Tapscott, Strauss and Sylvia. There were probably some more but I can't remember. I was also approached by some dude today who asked me 'Hey, are you from Bigfooty?'. I said a 'No' and you could almost hear the crickets.

Anyway, they were doing 150m run throughs with an appropriately paced running partner. Jones/Bail were a duo, as were Morton/Mcdonald, Nicholson/Howe, Watts/Bate, Martin/Macdonald, Blease/Gysberts/Davis, Bartram/Bennell and I forget the other pairs.

It was a very cruisy session that only last 1hr 15minutes. Admittedly, I was a little disappointed as I wanted to see them getting flogged on the training track but other than the run-throughs it was a pretty low-key, jovial feel about it. Davey, Grimes, Cook, Mckenzie ran laps for about 20 minutes and Mitch Clark on the far side of the oval did some low-key running for the whole session. These players did some kick to kick and quick hands sort of drills away from the main group. So they didn't take part in any of the real stuff.

The players then split up into different groups. I wouldn't read too much into who was in what group etc as Blease was in the group with Watts/ Stef Martin. Leigh Brown was active with the pads, bumping the forwards as the ball came in. Pretty hard I must say. Almost knocked little Sam Blease over at one stage. Watts, Howe, Green, Dunn, Blease and Stef Martin in this group.

Someone asked how Evans was going and I saw Evans just kicking the ball in a triangle for about 30mins so he may be easing back off some sort of injury.

All in all, it seemed a pretty easy session and I would have like to see them get punished a lot more than they did.

At no point did I see Neeld address the players.

They did some basic stoppage drills but nothing jaw-dropping or anything to suggest of a new game style.

Anyway, Troy Davis looks sluggish and has poor skills. Carrying far too much weight. Morton is still skinny, along with Cook but its only the 3rd training session so what do we expect. I think Nicholson looked good. He was the most chatty guy in the team today and is looking in pretty good nick.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
