Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Yeah, that should be a great concert NB. Shame they couldn't get the Oils to reform just for the occasion... even if only to perform Wedding Cake Island if Garrett was reticent.

How long are you in Sydney for? I'm planning on heading over to Carriageworks in Redfern to check out an installation that is a part of the Sydney Festival, called Inside There Falls. I decided I need to drag my camera out again and get snapping. Let me know if you've got teh time and the inclination to meet up... even if just for a midday coffee.

Unfortunately its a fly in and fly out thing - arriving at noon and out on Saturday morning first thing.

I am trying to sneak out and back before my girlfriend even realises I am gone !

No problem... I'll be down in Melbourne at Easter with my youngest son for the game against GC... so hopefully there will be an opportunity to catch up with yourself and other D'landers at that time. Enjoy the show!

Ok, I know somewhere earlier in this thread I mentioned that I would post a clip of a song myself and a friend (who is based in the UK) created via long distance file exchanges. Well, after much [censored] around with bits of footage and trying to do stuff between his busy work schedule in teh British fillum industry, nothing happened... nada, zip, zilch, not a thing, bugger all...

So, being a man of my word, a person with absolutely no pride and a sado-masochist who is prepared to deliver himself the ultimate humiliation while inflicting pain on anyone prepared to click on the below link, I now bite the bullet and give you, Don't Blame Me... a song penned by myself (Tim Fleming) and the guitarist come archery expert and trainer to the stars (Steve Ralphs) in 1979 and re-visited 35 years later to be recorded in two, yes count 'em, two countries literally a world apart (UK v Australia)...

One important piece of advice... only listen with headphones on and the volume cranked right up to maximise the pain... err, I mean, experience. Oh yes, you may want to close your eyes as well.

Not to be confused with Boko Harem!!

I have been playing Bridge of Sighs, Too Rolling Stoned and A Little Bit of Sympathy in the car this week at high volume too. It is driving the Missus mad, she just does not appreciate an electric guitar! Just don't understand it.

I've always found it amazing the effect of the music that one listened to when aged 17-21 - it just stays with you. Not necessarily the bands or the songs but the style and the beat. My favourite style is funky jazz/rock but I can listen to and enjoy just about anything.

Here's 'Conquistador' from Procul Harem followed by a funky number featuring Bruno Mars. A huge contrast but there's no accounting for taste! (especially when it comes to music)

Loved both Macca. I had totally forgotten about Conquistador from my early teens, brought back some memories. And the Bruno track is outstanding, anything up beat with plenty of brass gets me in, aka Style Council and I knew a mates brother who, played trombone with Kids in the Kitchen all those years ago. Yeah you are right you tend to like the type of music, big guitar or plenty of brass that was around when you were young.

PS I reckon the Missus will love the Bruno track that is her type of song, being a teacher she is always trying to stay in tune with the kids to some degree at least.

Yeah, that's me singing... the hair tends to fall out as fast as it grows, but while there's still enough there, I'll let it keep doing whatever it wants to do.

I played in bands in my teens and now just fiddle around with my guitar and sing for relaxation and to drive Mrs. RL mad.

My favourite bands are the Doobie Brothers and the Young Rascals. Both quite different to each other.

Great track ht, i really dig it.

I mainly listen to electronica these days but this is the kind of gear i used to love rocking out to.

Reminded me a bit of The Angels (a good thing in my books).

Surprised that it's been artificially arranged (if i can call it that) with musicians on separate sides of the world; I mean i know it can be done but it sounds very organic, like two guys just jamming in the studio.

Did you do the production etc ?

Thanks GV, glad you liked it. The guitarist and I wrote that song when we were in a band together in Sydney back in 1979. He moved back to the UK that same year and the band disbanded. So maybe the fact that we had worked together helped with what you call the "organic" sound? We met up again via Facebook and decided to give it another go and so he and his son did all of the music tracks in the UK and sent me a guide track against which I created a vocal track, which I isolated and sent back for them to mix for the final product. My friend played bass and guitars and his son did the mixing and the drums (despite not normally being a drummer - he's a guitarist/vocalist in his own band). We were pretty happy with it.

Now that you've explained the process, I'm doubly shocked at how good it sounds. I've got friends who make electronic music via file-sharing but it's obviously a truckload easier to do with computer music than acoustic stuff.

No, but there seems to be an infinite amount of alternate bands around these days to catch up with ... I like the song though EH. The lead singer certainly has a unique style ... I watched the video and then just listened to the song separately.

While I'm here ... here's some Eric Clapton (from his album 'E.C WAS HERE' ... 'Further On Up The Road')

Sports were my favourite Australian band. Saw them live many times and they were invariably brilliant. Steve Cummings has released some terrific albums as a solo artist as well

However, I saw Steve at a Day on the Green gig - just over a year ago. He was terrible. Looked and sounded like he was having a stroke. I was quite saddened by it.

I'm going tonight under protest.

Quite like Paul Simon. I was a huge fan of the Police and saw them at the first Melbourne gig at festival hall where they absolutely lifted the roof off the place - senasational.

In later years Sting has become a giant sized plonker who should be locked in a room with Bono so they can bore the socks off each other.

As an aside - Stephen Cummings has written a book called "will it be funny tomorrow Billy" - it is a laugh out loud book and he spares no one including himself.

It was also made into a movie - which was really well done as it is a mix of Stephen Cummings reading excerpts and the person he is slagging off also reading the same paragraph - and commenting - really funny stuff.

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle
