If you were granted three wishes during trade week ...

Just for fun ...

Fast forward to next Monday, you've just been appointed 'Gubby Allen' for a week and have carte blanche to pick 3 players from other clubs to put straight onto the Deez' list. Who would you pick?

For me ....

1. Lance Franklin

2. Joel Selwood

3. Michael Hurley

Buddy number one easily, wouldnt take Hurley im glad we took Watts well above him, Pendlebury would be my next choice easily

My first wish would be to be anyone else apart from "gubby Allen"

My second wish would be for a chocolate fountain in my room.

My third wish would be for even more silly and unrealistic threads on Demonland.

There's always one isn't there ...

Don't you mean Liz Hurley?

Buddy, Pendlebury and Joel Selwood, for me too, please...

Or perhaps Cyril Rioli to fill FP/mid role instead of Selwood.

Lewis Roberts-Thompson

Mark Blake

Josh Fraser

a never ending packet of tim tams?

I'd prefer a freezer forever packed to the brim with Monaco Bars.

Luke Hodge

Brendon Goddard

Adam Goodes

Honourable mention to '...for posters to use the drafting/trades board to post about trade week'? :P

For me it would have to be Buddy, Pendles and Goodes. Combination of leadership, raw talent and sublime skill. Three things that would help our side immensely. Now, back to reality........

I would only have 1 wish outside of Melbourne getting the likes of Franklin, Hodge, Judd, etc.

That would be Pendlebury going to GWS early, Trav Cloke deciding to walk and for the rest of the comp to pick the eyes out of the rest of the Pies carcass, leaving FIGJAM with absolutely nothing to work with and for the Filth to wollow in their own loser culture crapulence! That is all.

Yes I would have to agree with the majority

Franklin first - we need a big strong focus up front to take the pressure off Jurrah and Watts

Selwood - you just have to admire him and his three premiership medals

Pendelbury - Aside from getting a top notch midfielder, I love nothing more than to take from the Pies.

I could probably shop a lot more but that would make our team pretty damn fine.

I'd prefer a freezer forever packed to the brim with Monaco Bars.

I prefer the caramel magnum.

Well, obviously Jack Darling because he is the greatest player taken in any draft in the last five years and is exactly the type of forward we have a shortage of...

Seriously though.

Marc Murphy (it's like a description of what is missing from our current midfield came to life)

Zac Smith (Smith+Gawn, and Martin as a relief ruck, unstoppable Fwd/Ruck group for a decade)

I'm trying to be original, but it isn't going to work - Joel Selwood. Can't go past a 23 year old gun mid with leadership.

Just one would do; Sheedy stuffs up the call on the number one draft selection and picks some talentless nobody by mistake and has to wear it.

If I had 3 wishes it would be that instead of trading for someone elses superstars we manage to land a future All Australian with every pick we have in the upcoming draft. 3x wishes for 3 drafts. That would be a home grown dream team!

  • PREVIEW: St. Kilda

It seems like only yesterday that these two sides faced off against each other in the centre of the continent. It was when Melbourne was experiencing a rare period of success with five wins from its previous six matches including victories over both of last year’s grand finalists.  Well, it wasn’t yesterday but it was early last month and it remains etched clearly in the memory. The Saints were going through a slump and the predicted outcome of their encounter at TIO Traeger Park was a virtual no-brainer. A Melbourne victory and another step closer to a possible rise into finals contention. Something that was unthinkable after opening the season with five straight defeats.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.
