Jack Watts panelist on The Footy Show tonight

He's a very relaxed media performer and I'm sure TFS people can see that, but the last thing I would like to see is Watts becoming a regular on that 'nudge, nudge, wink, wink', mindless piece of carp. I watched the first twenty minutes last night to see how he went. On the odd occasion that i watch it I feel a mixture of shame and embarrassment (that I am watching it) and anger at the culture it perpetuates.

Sick of hearing this carp*. If you don't like the show then don't watch it. Stop whinging. End of Story.

You're opinions wont be missed..

And yours?

This is Demonland, not The Footy Show.

At Demonland we all give opinions of various things surrounding the Melbourne Demons and AFL footy in general.

This is commenting on a tv show of which there is an option to not watch it. I'm not religious but I'm not one to go and tell religious people I dislike religion, I choose not to follow it, if they follow it good for them...Different example following a similar notion.

Various opinions are welcome when discussing players of the MFC, news stories regarding AFL etc; the opinion was on the merits of television show presented, not the MFC and AFL.

That's typically idiotic Bailey nonsense. I don't watch the show, but we can't expect all footy players and coaches to present to the media as dry and devoid of personality as DB.

And you are reacting to a nonsense claim as i dont even watch the show and know that both Moloney and Green have been on the show during Baileys reign.

If BJ is Brendan Goddard ( BG) it's no wonder I couldn't work out who he is ! As I said, pardon my ignorance. (no offense to RM , perhaps BJ was a typo ? )

Funny you should talk about religion - footy is mine.

If a show is called The Footy Show - they can be critiqued...

This is the biggest team forum in the AFL and the second biggest forum to Bigfooty.

We are well within our rights to voice our opinion on a football show.

not a typo. its 'bj'. well known actually...

Thank you Watt and Howe . In fact , I have just been informed by my brother that he is so known . As someone who has been going to Dee games (and non- Dee games of interest ) since 1965 , I cannot believe this nickname has escaped my notice . Just goes to show something. -- maybe that we can't know everything . Almost embarrassing ,but in the scheme of things I'm not fussed . Thank you , I am always happy to learn .

Funny how jack said that the whole club had changed since neeld's arrival, yet jack is yet to meet the coach.

Since Neeld's appointment we have had two assistants and fitness manager been moved out, another assistant moved to the midfield and one more out to football manager. We have the leading fitness guru onboard and have snared a reported up and coming coaching talent from TAC. The football manager has been moved from football to admin.

Now thats the bricks and mortar changes. The attitudal change that has been made ( and yes ...talk is cheap) by bringing a coach who espouses "hardness" and displays a no nonsense approach - apart from coming from the most successful team of the last two years - cannot be downplayed.

I suggest that I would raise an eyebrow if Jack had said nothing has changed since Neelds appointment

( I'm thinking your statement was tongue in cheek ?)

I don't remember telling you not to watch it. I was merely stating my own misgivings about the program. I stand by that statement and I definitely find it a depressing aspect of our culture. I don't regard myself as sanctimonious or precious. You may well have a different view.

If you read my post you would see I did not say you told me not to watch it. Watch you did do however was tell me how much you disliked the show - there is a difference. If you wish to make comments about the show then please do so on another individual thread. I'll help with the title - 'why I do not like the footyshow.' The thread was started to let people know Jack was on the footyshow, not as a medium for you to express your dislike.

I can't watch it because I have this allergic reaction to Sam Newman. Everytime I see his face my shoe ends up in my hand and then being flinged at my TV. Doctors tell me it is muscular - I had the same strange reaction to Richard Carlton.

TS was on also when he first got drafted, and was as nervous as a cat in chinatown!

Wasn't T$ standing in between Jonno Brown and Bazza Hall on that epsiode?

If I were an 18 year old, at the size he was, knowing I'd be playing against these blokes in a couple of months, I'd be nervous too...!!!

This thread is about Jack Watts and his appearance on The Footy Show. I have no idea why you are bringing up forum etiquette and my 'needs.'

Deal with thread topics in the appropriate thread...

Ironic, you two have spent half the thread fighting with whether it's a good show or not.

To me the thread title read's about how Jack was on the show and what he said..

Onto other matters, can someone please post the general jist of what JW talked about? Worked till late and forgot to record it but am intrigued to know how he spoke and what we spoke about.

I find the show puerile in the extreme - then again I watch the WWE wrestling religiously. so maybe I have a twisted view of puerile.

My only fear re Dawes is that he may be another Miller... shows a lot of promise but is unable to deliver it except for a few all too infrequent glimpses. Then again, I still believe he is definitely worth a go.

Much bigger, stronger and a much better kick. Miller's problem was that he was too shaky in front of goals, so he had to play further upfield. Dawes will play the role of the big gorilla in the arc that will allow Jurrah, Green, Watts and Pettard some freedom to lead harder.

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.
