Bruce has been dropped and McLean can't get a game, both those guys will be lucky to hold their positions at their clubs next year. I think McLean will definately go and Bruce will be lucky. If they had have stayed at the Demons they probably would have played most games this season, no sympathy from me, McLeans only about 26 and its all over for him. Bruce is an idiot who screwed himself hahahaha.

Do you suggest we offer Brock a 5 year contract and Cam a two year contract now that our football department realise we need leadership ?

Bruce dropped is interesting. Had his best game of the year last week and seemed to have given himself a chance to play finals. Just shows Hawks think he is not up to it.

Has played nine games - fewer than if he had stayed staunch. That does not augur well for another year - wasn't he supposed to play a minimum 17 to get a second year with them?

So he ceases to be a one club player but maybe he'll be in the club photo of a premiership team OR he just fades away.

The only thing likely to get him back is a spate of injuries. Should it not happen I'll spare him no sympathy. Selfish git.

Bruce is listed as "soreness." Make of that what you want, but he was good last week.

I also think Brock would be a good fit at GWS next year.

This is a little disingenous Pitmaster. Both gave there best for the dees in Bruce's case over a long period of time.

IMO it was not all his wish to end it with the MFC in the fashion that it played out last year.

Some of the blame for that is squarely at the feet of DB and some in the FD.

Just look at the way we treated Junior.

The MFC is not without blame here.

I am sad for them that they are not playing on the weekend.

PS Bruce was also out injured for quite a few games so that did not help his total

I'd welcome back McLean if it cost us nothing, he's 26 so he'd just be wanting to play a game for anyone thats wants him.

Another experience big body midfielder is what we need while we're still getting games into the kids, yeah he's slow, but he's tough.

that just saves some of his embarrassment, you do not miss a final for "soreness"

no way, they left thats their fault

God, as if we want either of them back. Both good players, but so far past it. Neither have the leadership either, despite what some think.

Blame? I'd shake Bailey's hand for driving that soft pretender out of our club, no blame, praise.

"Soreness" yeah, sore nerves.

If we were in a final this week, Bruce would be Cpt or Vice leading us out. Can't crack a spot at Hawthorn.

That's how far we still have to go.

I would find it hard to believe that GWS wouldn't take McLean if he was de-listed or up for trade. If for nothing else than experience at still a relatively young age.

Bruce is done and dusted after this year i believe. He really is only depth at Hawthorn and with their young blokes coming on i doubt he will be around after October.

If that is the case well done on your career Brucey.

Maybe i'm being a little naive about what goes on in supporter forums like these but what's the go with starting a thread to bag out a couple of former Dees and rub in the fact that they may have lost their jobs?

Posted

We came out the winner from both deals.

Bruce is leadership about as much as Green has been.

I say that having made all manner of defence of Bruce over the years, and having all kinds of respect for Green.

But neither are leaders. Green I thught might be, but that was when he was playing well and running on high confidence. It's a huge shame, but without confidence Green seems to fall away so dramtically it niggles everyone around him.

What are you trying to achieve by kicking these guys while there down?

Guess the OP is just pointing out you reap what you sow. The grass was supposed to be greener, but it hasn't quite worked out for them both.

What, like Bruce kicking the MFC while it was down? Did that stance flow through to the Geelong game, at all?

At least those two left when the going got luke-warm, and didn't try and pretend to be leaders.

Probably shortened their own careers too. Careers.com.au.

I agree WAC but obviously we are in a fairly select group.

Sad i think we cannot acknowledge their contributions to the MFC.

I guess these guys will come under fire for leaving the club thinking the grass was greener. Both of them would have had more games if they stayed at Melb.

Poor guys. Think about all the great times they have missed out on at the MFC.

Im sure that they are not having too many regrets.

Bruce was injured most of this year. You are a low grade supporter. He is out injured this week. Tdhe club didn't really want another great servant of the club. I suggest you look at his record. I hope he gets his reward at the Hawks, he deserves it in my opinion

My last line may have come across as a shot at Bruce but it actually wasn't- i actually do congratulate Bruce on his career (and Brock for that matter although as I said I think he will continue at GWS if not CFC)
