If Gerard, or someone else, is going to be the Football Director, then what is the role of Chris Connolly who is the Football Manager? Seems like too many chiefs and not enough Indians to me.

Different roles.

I have no real issue with appointing Greg Healy football director

however my only concern is with the appointment of another

'Melbourne man'. Again I'm sure Greg is more than competent

of filling such a role but what football success has he enjoyed

through his career? Surely whilst we are assessing the

inadequacies of the club through G.Lyons appointment, an

outside perspective from a suitably credentialled individual would

be the wiser choice. Why are we not trying to poach or appoint

someone who has been around some recent success and knows

how to achieve it and where we are currently going wrong? With

no offense to Chris Connoly, he is a prime example of where we

currently may be going wrong. Chris never tasted the ultimate

success as a player with Melbourne nor as a coach with Freo.

If we are to break the near 50 year drought of premiership glory

then perhaps we need to employ some outside knowledge of

someone who knows the direction to take.

Different roles to what you are thinking fellas.

The Footy Manager - Connolly - is the day to day manager of the footy dept.

The Footy Director is a board member who has the ear of all areas of the footy dept and admin. And all personnel in the footy dept is encouraged to chat with the Footy Director as that person is the best vehicle for the board to know what is going on at the club. So that they can step in, be proactive, and let things fester the way the evidently did.

Thanks rpfc.

Was a little unsure of the football director duties. However it doesn't

change the point I was trying to make.

The footy manager position (Connolly's job) is occupied by a man

with no premiership background.

The footy directors job is now potentially being offered to another

man who has no background in performing such a role in any

atmosphere of success. Can we not pursue a football director

from another club who may have been in place during a successful

premiership campaign? For what little added advice and guidance such

a person might offer, surely it is that extra 1% that can't be achieved

by appointing one of the boys.

I would happily love to be proven wrong in a few years time. I just feel

we need every possible foothold we can get in these appointments.

I would say that having a look at CC and a possible replacement for him would be the best way to go.

The idea of having a former Dees player as footy director is because they have to be elected to the board (outside of Garry doing Jimmy a favour by stepping into the breach).

Having a Leoncelli or a Healy or any former player gives the board a idea of what is going on from a loyal subject who knows a bit about footy. I really don't think it would be a good idea to put an non-Demon in a role such as that - especially when it requires being on the board.

Go and find an upgrade on Connolly.

But the Footy Director should be a Healy or an Ingerson or someone of that ilk.

Firstly, I am a member.

Secondly, if Lyon had balls, he would take on the challenge. He has enough money, and he says he cares about the MFC. What's the issue? Maybe courage?

As for you, you are apart of [censored]-weak metro-sexual crew. The crew that accepted beltings and blindly followed, while shouting down everyone that had concerns with the coaching department. Now you can eat your words. Your comments mean nothing to me.

Sorry, I played hard, and I expect that from my team.

Sheep leading the sheep.

Maybe he doesn't want to, just maybe what he says is the truth, shocking isn't it.

HaHa, the Headbands, LoL, I hadn't thought of that, & maybe we could call Spock?

Man that was a seriously 'warped' star trek. Thanks for such a nice Sunday wake up call Dee. I really enjoyed that....

This lead me to watching the scene on the bus with the punk rocker courtesy of your you tube link.... i'm not even going there. Do yourself a favour and don't go there either! Seriously.....don't....

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
