London 'dees

Hi all. Just got in to London this morning.

Anyone know of a good place to catch the game v hawthorn this Sunday?

Welcome!!!

Hope you're enjoying the wonderful London weather.

You won't find it on live at any pubs as the game is on 5am London time. Maybe at one of the casino's as they all have TV's but you'd have to ask them to change the channel. ESPN is showing the game live (channel 417 on sky) so if any of your mates have sky, then you can watch at their place.

If you're keen to watch in a pub, it depends where your based as theres a few options.

Most walkabout's will show replays of the game on Sunday and the Slug which is now in Wimbledon (formerly Fulham) will be showing the game Sunday afternoon too. The Alex in Clapham shows replayed matches too.

Where about's are you staying? I can give you some reccomendations based on what's close to you.

I'm in Paris does anyone know if it is on live here, I was here last year as well and watched it on the AFL Site live updates, not real flash. You can get International AFL Bigpond direct on your computer but I'm no tech wiz and I'm not sure what you need and how to go about it.

Mate the Slug in Fulham looks like it has closed, otherwise the Temple Walkabout is a joint I liked watching a game at as it had light unlike most London pubs. Phone ahead to see if they are playing the game as sometimes even if advetised they might not show it although there are plenty of Hawks supporters around.

Temple Walkie

Sheperds Bush Walkie as well.

Otherwise look up Aussie Rules clubs based in London and see where they head too or ask them.

Mate, Cafe Oz in Montmatre (opp. Moulin Rouge) is open till very late/early, so they may show it. There's another Cafe Oz in the 3rd/4th arrond - not sure how late they're open tho'. Bon courage.

Not hard to find IIRC, we stumbled upon it walking from one of the stations up to Notre Dame

That would probably make it somewhere in le Halles which wouldn't surprise me.

Thanks ADSY and CARDS for the London info, in Kings Cross...will probably head down to a walkabout'

- Robbie, was just in Paris - could have caught up and continued political discussion from that 'ology days.

I was in London for all last season. Trying to watch the footy in a pub is hopeless. Best bet is to either find an illegal stream and failing that just buy a one off the afl. I think it was $4.95 per game and was actually very good.

OK never thought of asking this forum. but CANADA is there any station of TV that carries replays or games live

Only here for 5 weeks but.....anyone with hints greatly appreciated

Cheers

Go Dees Give 'em HELL !!

Try ESPN...my uncle lives in Oregon and says they have picked up AFL over the last year or so...failing that i would view it through the AFL site.

Yeah we could have caught up but I'm over the political stuff too much grief; we are here for another 5 weeks so if you get here again let me know.

The Mrs called me an idiot when I said I'd like to watch it direct on TV, it will start at about 6.10am, bit early. I'm going to try try the international AFL broadband thing.

Thanks muchly, It's been 30 years since I was over there, nothing on the box back then,

Again thanks,

Go Dees

Just ribbing re: political stuff - part of what forced the move to 'land

The AFL broadband is actually pretty good while in Europe, I was actually in Paris a week ago and it was fine....the problem is that in the UK, USA, Canada other providers show certain games, so you cannot watch live on it - there do exist streams but they can be frustratingly poor

I've got a mac and when I try to connect up to AFL Broadband you need silverlight and I just had that removed because it was playing havoc with my laptop.

I went it to the afl site and tried to connect through the live tv but I don't think that's right any clues what I click on to?

BTW Same here about Ology, I only post here and only now and then, I'll have a flurry and then disappear for a while.

Im in Port Hedland and the first i saw or heard of MFC vs Port was on Wednesday and that was just to show Greeny dobbing in the runner, but if M Priddis brushes his pubes its front page news. Oh yeah and apparently the Pies won the cup, I bet that Malthouse will be given a lifelong coaching contract now.

It’s been a season of grit, growth, and glimpses of brilliance—mixed with a few tough interstate lessons. Now, with finals looming, the Dees head to Kardinia Park for one last tune-up before the real stuff begins.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
