Close but no cigar. Actually $7.95 per kilo down there.

My highlight on the coast so far came when I picked up my copy of today's HUN and there, on the front page was a snap of the unmentionable one in charcoal and orange drag on top of a headline that screamed out,

"Rats in our ranks".

OK, the story under the headline had nothing to do with the little bugger but it made my day.

Not to mention The Loved Ones (arguably the best band this country ever produced), Mike Furber and the Bowery Boys, Little Gulliver, The Wild Cherries, Johnny Young, Bee Gees (Spics and Specs era). The Purple Hearts, The Valentines (Bon Scott's first band I believe), The Mixtures and on it goes. Discos like Thumping Tum, Box Hill and Ringwood Town Halls (fight night at the disco) etc etc.

I have great memories of my first ever live concert which was a Go Show at the Myer Music Bowl in the late 60's; MPD, Bobby & Laurie, ONJ, Loved Ones, Bee Gees, Marcie and the Cookies, Wild Cherries, and a few others that escape me now.

Don't forget Ray Brown and the Whispers, and two of the greatest... Billy Thorpe and The Easybeats. Those were the days!

Oh no they had something alright.

I'm in a fighting mood!

You would probably like Elton John's Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting or that classic Everybody Was Kung Fu Fighting.

I'm very disappointed in Redleg. Last night during the massive rainstorm on the Coast we found shelter at Baskin & Robbins and they have a special on their banana ice cream. Redleg declined to partake. Not only that but he reckons he's also going to pass on the opportunity to watch Brad Green skipper the Aussies in Friday night's IR game against Ireland. That means he also misses out on seeing James Frawley and the best and most honest footballer to come out of the 2009 national draft Jack Trengove.

I wouldn't go to the IR Game either. Don't encourage such rubbish. It's an AFL junket. Our players need a good rest before hitting the track again. I applaud the stand taken by Mr. Leg.

Or something that was released after 1990..

A few of us are showing our age. I like You Get What You Give by New Radicals. That was after1990.

There's been a lot of great music post 1990, but unfortunately I think the marketing machine had well and truly started to dominate by then and more and more music and performers were being "manufactured" rather than coming up through the live music scene. If you want to see what marketing has done to music in Asia, look no further than PopAsia on SBS on a Sunday morning. It's a real shame, because there used to be a lot of really exciting stuff going on in Asian music - well, I suppose there still is, but there is so much more dross that you have to wade through in order to find it.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. We’re already a month into the MFC preseason (if you started counting when the younger players in the group began the campaign along with some of the more keen older heads)

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
