In The Threepenny Opera, script Brecht, music Kurt Weill, both great Yekkes - there's a song called Mackie Messer. Frank Sinatra sang about him - Mac the Knife. My wife is Maxine Messer. Never mind, she's a great novelist and writer...

It also helps to learn the basics of the Polish language. I learned this the hard way: I unwittingly accepted a marriage proposal, and if not for my son’s fiancé overhearing and quickly stepping in, I’d be a staruszka cooking pierogi for her ancient old husband right now instead of being in the No T$ thread, where I belong.

I would guess feisty redheaded women are a rarity in Poland so the old fella was quick to snap you up 🤣

We've been together since 1989, got married in 1996 - after her Catholic parents strongly suggested that since we'd lived together for so long, we should get married. My wife made this suggestion as we walked the path along Merri Creek towards Bell Street. I turned to her and said, So, you want to become my 3rd ex-wife?

Nothing at all wrong with Polish food. In fact, I love it so much I gained 12 kilos in eight months. 😭

I dropped the 12k upon arriving back in Melb without even trying which means Polish food equals loads of calories. But geez, it tastes sooooo good.

I am half Polish, as my late dad was born there.

My father's mother, born in Breslau, claimed there was Polish Aristocracy in her family tree - a certain Count Adishkovitz. When I mentioned this to my Polish Un-laws they said, That's not a Polish name.

Since then, I have discovered every Polish family is descended from Royalty...

Australians are a rarity in Poland. Especially in the villages, but even in Warsaw. They’ll think you’re English first, then Irish or Scottish, then American and when they hear you’re from Australia they look at you like you’re a figment of their imagination.😁

Methinks the old fellah was looking for someone to cook for him and to wash his jocks n socks, redheaded or otherwise.

Nooo! Poles are wonderful folk! You just need to be patient since they sometimes take a while to warm to you. My son lives in Poland and in 2020 Covid turned my 3-week visit into eight months. I eventually won the good folk of Warsaw over. By attrition. I wore the poor buggers down. 😁

I attended a wedding in Vietnam and during the after-ceremony festivities multiple people asked my girlfriend (now wife) for help translating their proposed introductions to various daughters. My friend who was getting married did NOT step in to clear things up.

One of the biggest culprits (for me) ...the Paczki.  Similar to Gernan variety but the plum filling makes this a stand out!

For anyone who's a connoisseur and wants to taste them (among other Polish sweets/cakes & delights).... Cafe' Europa in Koornang Rd, Carnegie

What is going on here?

I can't understand any of it.

Uncle, please post and insult me, at least that is easy to comprehend.

BTW, any of you Dees fans going up to the GC to watch both the Dees and  Casey play?

Bah! I have no doubt that this is some cunning lawyerly plot so that you can sue and get your grubby hands on The Manor's pelf.

@WalkingCivilWar I think uncle bitters just hit on you. 🤮

So what’s new, Azz? He’s been doing it for ages. Clearly he’s not taking the hint. Maybe I need to make it louder and clearer. Although I thought, “Go away you dirty old man, I DON’T like you!” would’ve sufficed.

I’ll ask around, see if any gal-pals of mine are interested in applying. Don’t like the odds though since I don’t have any friends who are clinically insane. Soz.

This place is heaven, proof there is a God.

I once informed the female owner that my wife is Polish.

She replied, Polish girls, they keep you on your toes.

I replied, Trouble is, I'm not a ballerina.

    BLOODY BLUES by Meggs

The conclusion to Narrm’s home and away season was the inevitable let down by the bloody Blues  who meekly capitulated to the Bombers.   The 2024 season fixture handicapped the Demons chances from the get-go with Port Adelaide, Brisbane and Essendon advantaged with enough gimme games to ensure a tough road to the finals, especially after a slew of early season injuries to star players cost wins and percentage.     As we strode confidently through the gates of Prin

LIVE AND LET DIE by Meggs

The Demons’ impressive late season charge to finals will most likely come unstuck this Saturday evening when the Bombers blow up the also-ran Blues in the Ikon Park double-header.   To mangle McCartney, what does it matter to ya?
