I hesitate to post this but I have Briefed running soon at Sandown at 4.40. If he can get a clear run at them in the straight from not too far back he should be in the finish.

Beaten a short half head on a hard leaders track. Great effort from him as he comes from the back and likes some give in the ground.

In other words, nothing's changed since last year.

Somewhat short sighted by Thomo calling Caro out in relation to the AFL mouthpiece. Caro sledges the AFL where warranted, particularly AD.

Thomo has always come across with a bee in his bonnet where AD is concerned, and despite me agreeing with him on many occasions, the way he carried on last show was a little childish.

Make your point and move on Thommo.

Hard LUck

Thanks for the tip

What is a good crowd RL?

I would think under 20 is poor, over 30 is good and around 25 is not bad, given the interstate team.

My guess on those options is 25

a winning margin of 5 points

Business as usual for the Blues 7 goal winners over the Tigers.

The more things change the more they stay the same

I don't usually like it when Carlton wins but those Richmond supporters were really getting carried away during the week. I even heard a few on radio mentioning the P * word.

* P = Premiership

My guess on those options is 25

a winning margin of 5 points

Hopefully round 1 excitement plays a factor and we can crack the 30k mark. I do agree that 25 is more likely, though.

I think the P word appeared because of the newspaper columns last week. As soon as a coach/board member/bootstudder mentions the P word or even just the F word in the press, the faithful start nodding and agreeing away. Foregone conclusion they say. Anybody tip the tiges yesterday? Had about 15% of people tip them in the work league, seemed a little low, I would have thought more would have a flutter based on the blues' pre-season form.

We are miles away from the F word and galaxies away from the P word.

CArlton and Hawthorn have mentioned the P word a bit . Oh no -not the 80's again I hope .Unless it's the latter part where we knock those teams out of finals series .

Have I mentioned I hate Carlton?

Moi aussi . AND Hawthorn , AND Collingwood ,AND Essendon , AND Richmond , AND ....................

I only like most of those teams if they win (and other people tipped against them).

I just hate Hawthorn and Collingwood.Pity there was not more blood shed last night .

I only hate Hawthorn when they play us. The rest of the time I only envy and respect them.

We are miles away from the F word and galaxies away from the P word.

Aint that the truth.

Never have I been more on the money.

Well the first tragedy of 2012 is now almost 24 hours ago

And there has been an explosion on new threads so I thought I would put my thoughts on this one.

Not sure if it fits but here goes.

I ask myself what has changed in the last 48 years?

For the majority of that time not a lot.

Here we are after game 1 of 2012 with a bad loss to a bottom four side from last year.

A list of average players at best.

A new coaching panel ( how many of those have there been over that 48 year period )

A game plan that I have no idea how it is meant to work, I doubt the players do either.

A depresseing year awaits me.

With the prospect of another rebuild.

"Hang in there fellers we will get there"

is again the cry.

So as I said not a lot has changed.

But there is one big change for me.

I AM ALMOST WORN OUT BY THE MFC

I have had it with the 40 medicore years of the last 48.

I no longer want to wander off to the G with hope in my heart

and then wander home with the same sick in the guts feeling that once again

I am supporting a team of modest performers who tear my guts out.

Once again I will be the butt of jokes from other club supporters.

What has faithful support for 48 years got me! 8 years of joy and 40 years of misery.

I have a solution to save my sanity.

I have put away my new maroon and blue scarf, I have placed my members card at the back of the draw.

I have taken the stickers off my car.

I will return to the MCG when the MFC shows they deserve my support.

Until then ( if I live long enough ) I will be an anonymous citzen in the fabric of Melbourne.

Away from the scorn of the general football world.

no more "carn the dees"

Put up MFC and I will show up

  • REPORT: Carlton

The text messages started flooding in shortly after quarter time. One read: “Is Melbourne even at the ground?” Moments later, as Carlton’s Elijah Hollands kicked the first goal of the second term, the Blues held a commanding 43-point lead. By then, the Demons’ only score was a behind kicked by Brody Mihocek nearly five minutes into the game. Ironically, Mihocek would also register the last minor score of the day after the game took a dramatic turnaround.
