In the context of TS, I'm not sure FA has any bearing...

Are there not conditions upon a players minimum time at the club? IE <=7 years and the player is not eligible?

Did not mean FA applying to TS.

I was trying to convey that players not signing until the end the season / contract will become more common than in the past.

Only raised Scully to show how bad it would look if AFL went the way of Rugby League.

Fair enough, and I agree it's a bad look.

not to be negative, but what do people think we would get for scully if he did in fact go to GWS?

Unless the club receives an outright #1 draft pick it's a mockery of the system.

I don't care that even Ablett wasn't worth one.

Not Enough...This is a shamefull position the AFL have deliberately made. They want Interstate Clubs to succeed...Victorian Premierships are seen as a hiccup in the grand scheme.

He won't leave us to go to GWS. If he leaves he'll go to Richmond, and fit into their midfield.

Yeah, you for a start...

I honestly don't know where to begin with you.

How about...

If what Scully is doing to the club is so reprehensible, shouldn't your angst towards him continue even when he takes the field?

Why would it all evaporate once he pulls a jumper on?

Either he should be abhorred for what he is doing, or he shouldn't.

If the act of holding out negotiations is so selfish and detrimental to the club, what does him playing do to change that?

(Answer: What he is doing is perfectly reasonable, but you just want to overdramatise it).

Youye RPFC's love child arent you

You both happily overlook the notuion that he doesnt need to sign after the season in order to get al lhis goodies. Would you actually like to argue the facts?? beyond you ?? seems so.

I have said its perfectly reasonable for him to negotiate his best outcome. How does waitiing til seasons end necessary acomploish that ? He can do it in other ways. Care to argue that point ?? no probably not.. doesnt suit your rhetoric does it. You just blow the same hot air.

Simple questions for you ...canyou handle these.?

Can he not achieve a desirable outcome by signing now ( with favourable clauses ) ?

If he can, why doesnt he ?

If you think he cant, explain why .

reckon you can manage those ?

I here what you say about being able to factor in the new payment arrangements that are going to come into play however I wouldnt be advising a client (if I was a player manager) to sign in the current climate

1/ We are five weeks away from the deadline for completion of player payment negotiations

2/ The AFLPA walked out on discussions with the AFL and are by media reports are a fair distance apart

3/ We have the NFL on strike and for the first time AFL players asking if they would strike

It is obvious that Tom wants to make sure he gets a slice of increase player payments but it is hardly a settled enviroment to be putting in terms into a contract on getting extra percentages on what may or may not happen. Why not advise waiting to start negotiations in 5 weeks time when there is certainty on the payment deal.

Thats my thoughts

The gold coast had the ability to recruit players and ontrade them. IMO, a player like that would not want to go somewhere just for money. IMO, the way I read him, he seems to me a serious and loyal type, but to his Idealist heart strings. I imagine that he'll either try to get Home to where his heart is, or stay with Us.

He's a Obsessive type who will stop at nothing to achieve, but IMO is not so much about money, as Passion. Just the way I read Him. I'm of the opinion that he doesn't seem to me the type that would go live in a foreign state in a battling side for Money.

So why has he Not been Super strong about saying He'll resign as long as the Pay is right. He has doubts in his head or he wants elsewher.

I wonder if he's concerned over the 'soft culture' @ Melbourne, and thinking we'll go nowhere as ususal. He does not seem convinced about his future with us. An Obsessive type such as his, would not want to spend their life busting a gut in a losing culture of 'warm 'n' fuzzy' coiture.

Why would anyone boo him?

Because they see him acting in an abhorrent manner that is disrespectful to the club.

Why not boo him?

You still pushing this one, that he will go to Richmond because he barracked for them as a Kid? How many good players, who will get a regular game and are guaranteed a great contract, move to a club because they supported it as a Kid? None.

And what would GWS gain by trading him? If they have access to him, why would they then move him on? So what will Richmond give to GWS for him? I remember a while ago you were convinced that it was a done deal - Scully to Richmond, Martin to GWS, you still think this will happen? It's the most ridiculous thing that I have read on the internet, and I've looked at some pretty strange sites.

As far as I am concerned he has made his decision. There is only one reason why the door has been shut. If he hasn't gone yet then his actions are very selfish and will continue to destabilise and ferment uncertainty at this fragile club and quite frankly if that is the case he can get lost.

Just about every other high profile GWS candidates have been more engaging and eager to sort out their position on the matter. A player of his stature should have been secured a long time ago. If not it is either through incompetence at the club or he had decided to leave a long time ago thus leaving us high and dry.

Once again..do you have any proof, or do you just have a gut feeling that Scully is leaving?

The talk of Skull going to Richmond is an intersting one and in some ways perhaps not as crazy at it might appear at first blush. Why?

First, he's out of contract at the end of this year so therefore any team can sign him, so talk of GWS signing him and then on trading is a little strange (or am i missing something?). What if it isn't all about money? Whilst Richmond could not afford to match a GWS offer they could match any any offer we might make i assume

Second, as i have said in other posts about Skull he strikes me as someone who is focused on achieving team success, is clearly a family man, wants to be at a club with a strong healthy culture, wants to remain in Melbourne (by some accounts), is perhaps not motivated by short term financial gain and there is potentially great long term financial incentives staying in a footy mad town.

I have used these as reasons why he would stay at Melbourne, but they would all equally apply if he played at Richmond. And at this point in time who is more likely to win a flag first (or even experience medium term success) - Richmond or Melbourne? Of couse i would love to say the dees but to be honest am less sure about that than i was six months ago. And what if the whispers about his unease with elements of the demon culture have some merit?

Thirdly, perhaps the reluctance he's had to commit to the dees and the unease some feel he has shown relates not to a decision to head to GWS but to another club. Certainly if it were true it would mean there have been no lies about commitments being made to GWS. Where there's smoke there's fire - maybe something other than the obvious is burning. Perhaps Mike Sheean should ask him about the tiges

Lastly losing him to a cross town rival (and not getting any player in return) would be the right level of pathos for our long suffering supporters. Watching him run around with Martin every week would be a shocker. Can you imagine the media storm? Little Johhny Ralph and the rest of gossip hounds at the Hun would go into melt down and Demonland would implode.

Of course this is all a strange twisted nightmare. I have had the flu so perhaps i'm delusional. Nah of course it won't happen. Please Tom , say it 'aint so! Sign soon and put us out of our misery

How ? It would take a great deal in return.

Won't happen.

Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
