And for the Indigenous Rnd. It should be celebrated by all Australians and all clubs, Vistorian clubs. Interstate clubs would need to develope their own Indigenous Rnd, etc.

dee-luded, it IS shared. Remember, a club only benefits if they're the home team (with the exception of ANZAC Day, which has had the arrangement sorted by the AFL). See the point I made above - the reality is, only four clubs DON'T have a 'blockbuster' and of those four, only two really could consider needing it. Those two are Norf and the Bulldogs. Norf do NOT deserve one, and the Dogs aren't much better. I'm fine with the status quo - and if clubs want such a game, they should earn it though support and on-field success, as well as encouraging the AFL to create such a game for them.

- Hawthorn have the Tassie arrangement plus a huge supporter base.

- Geelong have Kardinia Park which provides far more revenue per home game than any of their Melbourne home games.

Actually Hawthorn & Geelong always have the Easter Monday clash (Tuesday this year).

Your welfare already exists, not because of the 'Socialist' bug under the carpet, but because the system is helping the powerful stay dominant. After North goes, who's next WYL? Not the King of the Castle, hey. Well, not 'til the Tidal Wave sweeps through.

It's a bit like the Duopoly of groceries in this country, squeezing everyone from the farmers to the independent product manufacturers. The name brands are disappearing of the shelves with compant brands taking over the space. When the "brands" have gone, the prices will go Way up. This is dominance! Or, if you like Dystopia.

Yes the population has grown to such a level that now multinationals control the lot. It is not healthy, but humans breed to much. It was inevitable.

ANZAC day is a blockbuster purely because it is collingwood v essendon, not because it is on a public holiday. The public holiday or special event (i.e. first game of the year) will always add a few thousand to the crowd, but a 30,000 crowd will still only be a 35,000 crowd, while a 60,000 crowd will turn into a 70,000 crowd. Blockbusters work because they are repeat games with history, and not just another fixture.

The grand final rematch could be played any week of the season (say round 2). It will be a massive game - play it on a Sat arvo at the G and the crowd will come regardless.

What the AFL needs to do is choose highlight games, play them at similar times each year, promote them as a 'blockbuster'. Melbourne Sydney ANZAC day is one example. Derbies sell themselves. But these games need more than 1-2 years to develop, especially when they aren't the big drawing teams, and the AFL hasn't persisted with any other traditions.

Essendon & Collingwood - ANZAC Day & the return fixture (due to the revenue arrangement)

Melbourne - QBD

Port & Adelaide - Showdown

WCE & Freo - Western Derby

Sydney & GWS - Sydney showdown (as of next year)

Brisbane & GC - QLD Derby

Richmond - Dreamtime

Carlton & Collingwood - Those rivalry games are an event of themselves

I think they've (Ess & Coll) found a niche and the AFL are supporting it and it's working. Instead of screaming at a brick wall, look at other avenues. I'm pretty sure this gets brought up every Anzac round each year. What I suggested last year with the knowledge our day being the Queesns B'day fixture, is to look for another "niche" ...

Ess have Anzac Day, Dreamtime fixture, and Hawthorn (lesser interest- but still well supported) with rivalry round.

Possible "niche's -

The MFC could look at:

• Sydney - for possible ongoing interstate ANZAC night game in Sydney.
  
• Geelong - Heritage clash (two oldest clubs) with our heritage guernseys. In recognition of the game itself.
  

Other than really pushing these....

I don't think there are any other "promotional options" that the club and it's history with other clubs have to offer in terms of "blockbuster status"..
