BELL............Can be a liability through lack of awareness when under pressure? Probably keep to develope.

BIZZELL.......Has been surpassed by C Johnson/Rivers/Miller. Trade for 60+ pick! Gone.

BUCKLEY.....?.To me an unknown so is not a locked in keeper? Possibly keep.

MOTLOP........IMO his soft efforts thru the season appear demoralising to teamates. Gone.

NEVILLE.......?.To me an unknown so is not a locked in keeper? Possibly keep.

NICHOLSON..Can be a liability through lack of agility & speed. Trade to Blues or Hawks for 3rnd pick! Gone.

REID............We need space on the list, trade.

SMITH..........Could be in trouble, is really a tall F-pkt. Backup if Neitz or White were badly injured.

WHEATLEY....In competition with C Johnson/Rivers/Miller/Bell/Yze/Green. Possible trade bait?

?????????????

PS.I forgot WARD....Trade

This is an exercise best done when the year is finished and we have a better understanding of deficiencies and strengths relaitve to other Clubs. i have no doubt the coaching panel have a good idea and one or two are obvious at this point.

But you are overrating the list if you think Bizz and Nicho have trade value.

Read is out of contract and even if he was not, I doubt he would have any trade value.

Why would other Clubs trade their youth for aged flawed footballers who cant consistently or dont make the grade and arent going to get any better?

Also, Buckley and Neville wont be delisted as we only picked them up last year! I think all first year draftees are given a 2 year contract. You cant expect a youngster to have an impact in their first season. Thats ridiculous.

BELL............Can be a liability through lack of awareness when under pressure? Probably keep to develop.

Keep.

BIZZELL.......Has been surpassed by C Johnson/Rivers/Miller. Trade for 60+ pick! Gone.

Not gone. Is contracted for 07 and what club with any clue would trade anything for an over 30 fringe player

BUCKLEY.....?.To me an unknown so is not a locked in keeper? Possibly keep.

1st year. Ridiculous suggestion

MOTLOP........IMO his soft efforts thru the season appear demoralising to teamates. Gone.

Harsh re. "soft efforts" but is probably gone

NEVILLE.......?.To me an unknown so is not a locked in keeper? Possibly keep.

See BUCKLEY.

NICHOLSON..Can be a liability through lack of agility & speed. Trade to Blues or Hawks for 3rnd pick! Gone.

Why would Carlton want any more average KPD when they have Saddington and co? What club in what is purportedly the deepest draft in history give up a 3rd rounder for a plodder with 3-4 years left in him when they could get at the very least a player of equal potential with double the life span?

If he is cut loose will probably go into the PSD

REID............We need space on the list, trade.

Noone would trade for Read see Nicho!

SMITH..........Could be in trouble, is really a tall F-pkt. Backup if Neitz or White were badly injured.

50/50 wouldn't carry much trade value if he were to be off loaded pick 50 would probably be the best that we could hope for

WHEATLEY....In competition with C Johnson/Rivers/Miller/Bell/Yze/Green. Possible trade bait?

?????????????

Trade bait for pick 40? Is good depth should keep.

Suprised not to see Godfrey's name on the list OR has he finally turned the corner? ;)

My predictions

Delists - Read (last week confirmed he's finished)

- Motlop (unless he pulls a rabbit out of his hat in September)

- Newton (harsh prediction - maybe onto rookie list or even redrafted)

- Nicholson (Officially last in the defensive pecking order)

-Godfrey or Ward - Both are actually displaying good form of late but I fear one of the two will

be sacked. No trade value however.

- Nick Smith - if he fails to play a senior AFL game then the harsh realities of AFL footy will

catch up with him

Trades - Bell - If he fails to impress then perhaps he may be shopped around for the right pick/player

Wheatley - Clubs will be interested in a booming kick with pace. I'm not particularly interested in

him anymore.

Ferguson - Injuries may have robbed him of a long career at the MFC. Was nearly traded to

Hawthorn. The sort of trade you could use for a Leigh Harding type.

This is a fruitless excercise at this time of year. Without knowing the full details about just who is uncontracted it is also unfounded at the end of the year. We have to create 4 spots on the list, 3 to satisfy the draft conditions and 1 to allow for Warnock who cannot stay on the Rookie list. These will have to come from the uncontracted players or those we can come to some agreement with ( something that I think is unlikely as they would cost us money that we simply cannot afford ).

The thing the officials should be worried about is signing up any uncontracted stars that may be coming out of contrast at the end of season, because I would sure hate to see a star leave.

On a side note: Read-Gone

Motlop-Gone

Nicholson-Gone

They're the three that I would confident that would be delisted

Wheatley is an interesting one I would think a club would take him, but at what cost I'm not too sure.

Bait for Aka

I also think that Ferg may be used as bait for Aka

Hows this

Wheatley Ferguson 2nd/3rd Rd pick for Akermanis and their earlier 2nd/3rd Rd pick

OK, youre credibility has taken a hit with this comment. We wont trade him unless he asks or unless it involves a marquee player. (not Akermanis)

BIZZELL.......Has been surpassed by C Johnson/Rivers/Miller. Trade for 60+ pick! Gone.

Doh! Another hit to your credibility. As mentioned, NO ONE IS STUPID ENOUGH TO TRADE FOR BIZZ!

BUCKLEY.....?.To me an unknown so is not a locked in keeper? Possibly keep.

NEVILLE.......?.To me an unknown so is not a locked in keeper? Possibly keep.

Ouch!!!! Again! These statements re Buckley and Neville are utterly laughable.

NICHOLSON..Can be a liability through lack of agility & speed. Trade to Blues or Hawks for 3rnd pick! Gone.

The peacock feather in your cap. 2 terrible teams loading up with youth and draft picks would send a pick to us for Nicho??? Your credibility regarding where our list is at resides somewhere in Werribee being processed into garden water.

at least give smith a chnace to prove himself before he should be delisted. he is still young and good shape for our foward structure when neitz retires. although its hard to give him a chance this year considering we are playing good footy

Agreed.

Smith will not go.

He has proved his strengths this year even though he has not been able to squeeze into the Demon's team.

Consider this..........

If Neitz goes down with an injury he is the only genuine big body we have that can fill the FF position. (don't waste you time trying to tell me PJ can do it!!he is a good player but not a ff). Yes, we could get by with Robbo or one of the younger brigade for a while, but not too long.

Smith if nothing else has shown versitility this year and has really only missed out due to Clogs being the more experienced player when the door eventually opened. That said I think it is more likely that a 29 year old Clogs makes a spot on the list ahead of a 22 year old Smith.

A simple looks at the 'maths' and upside of both players and the decision is logical and easy really!

As for the others I still think the General has a lot to offer. Motlop may be gone, Wheatley will stay (no brainer), Read is gone (no brainer), Bell (on more year), Ward wanted to be traded two years ago and wasn't. Perhaps he'll put his hand up again. Now that he has played some games and has a 'profile' has may finally get his wish. The others I can't comment on, but they will stay as they have a 2 year deal.

Go Dees

Gee how many weeks since we last had one of these stupid threads.

Chuck away first year draftees you know nothing about. Dumb.

Chuck away smith when he finally has an injury free season. Dumb.

What happened about being positive about the season.

We've only lost one game recently. Its not over yet.

Dumb.

Agree with you on this one RR. Pointless thread!

Totally agree with your commentsTGM- this was a truly wonderful, selfless act of a mastermind sharing its inner thoughts. An anthill amongst the watchtowers of credibility.

he can play like barry hall when in the foward like using his height and ruck skills to his and team mates advantage

I also wonder what kind of year he would have had if that 'pain in the demons side' Nick Sauntner was not playing for Sandy?

At worst, he has done nothing to deserve the chop.

Go Dees

Your right I don't, but spaces have to be made on our list, so this list is of those who I think are being the most scrutinised as we speak. As I stated they'll most likely be kept but you never know. It is not easy to keep a place on the MFC list of '06, not like even 3 years ago. All the clubs recruiting departments are right now sifting through all available talent currently on & off AFL lists in preparation for the post season. It is very topical to discuss this as the clubs are doing through player managers right now.

Bizzell is a very good player of AFL standard & would aid a team like the blues for 2 good years who are void of much experienced & steadying players. Read could also be handy to them for the next 3 years.

Carlton have a powerfull young list picked from early selections in each rounds of the previous drafts & that club is deliberately holding them back as a group so they can learn a winning attitude together. If they were to bring a youngster up into a team without much experience & hardness around them they run the risk of being set back in their development.

NICHOLSON..Can be a liability through lack of agility & speed. Trade to Blues or Hawks for 3rnd pick! Gone.

The Hawks are desparately looking for a Gorilla minder & Nicho is way too good for VFL, is of AFL quality & would have played for the Dees in defence but broke his foot which gave Holland the CHB role at the Zebs & then in the Dees team & has since made the position his own. Big & powerfull defenders are not easy to come by. As a 28 year old he is still at his peak & would offer the hawks a good 3 years of service.

Oh boy

well seeing as it is a post, you have to say something i guess.......

BELL............Has at least another year with the club, had a poor season last year through injury, give the kid a break. The way he is built and at his age, he can only get better.

BIZZELL.......Ok, so where the hell do you send him?? The bloke was in great form in the preseason, breaks a leg and gets canned. Please, spare me from the Biz comments. He has a season or two left.

BUCKLEY..... You have got to be kidding me. The kid just got drafted. What is wrong with you??

MOTLOP........ Um, place in side?? Dont see one at the moment, then again, dont be surprised if he gets called up soon. He has one more year on the list.

NEVILLE....... God talk about harsh on the young ones... Not everyone is a Bartram.

NICHOLSON..Right, and why would those clubs take him and what makes you think he would go? He has no place at the moment but all we need is injuries and he is right back, its that simple. At least we have him and some form in our backline. We have complained about our bloody backline for years, lets not jinx it by delisting everyone who can play there that happens to be residing in Sandy. Keep him for good measure.

REID............READ. He would be reasonable trade bait to?? And for??

SMITH..........Fark, the kid is what, 22. First full season without Injury?? This guy could fill another injury void should be needed. Its the what we need more than not. With Dunn and Miller for forwards, then Neita retires.... He could be usefuyl in the mix. Depends who wants him and whats on offer for him. 50/50 here.

WHEATLEY....In my opinion your only decent comment on trades. Wheatley is a player i cant see a fit for. CJ will be better, NBrown more reliable and hard, Wheaters has just suffered from a changing squad with a different need and dimension. Trade Bait yes.

WARD....Trade - You are NUTS, Ward has been in great form the last Month. I wouldnt trade that in my backline. Well done to blood nit who has had it tough since 2004. With Walshy gone, i like Ward in the side.

Were desparately short of senior positions that are open to our young players so they can get development time in the Sandy 1sts. We have so many depth players that talented young ones like Newton are not getting a go now that the likes of Bizzell & Nicho are back from injury. This is becoming a problem & that is why I decided to right this topic...

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well
