It was a stunning debut by the boy carved in granite!

Must be a rising star chance this week.

I agree, it's out of him, Heppell and possibly Darling. Tappy for mine, but i'm clearly Biased!!!

Would be favourite.

Heppell, Duncan and McKernan the other possibles.

If its not this week and I dont think it is, then he has sent notice that he needs to be considered in future weeks if he continues to build on his debut effort.

Really good first up effort.

How about Phil Davis - has he played too many games?

Too old.

I hate to say but my money is on heppell to will win this week as there seems to be a bomber love fest going on.

Tappy may get the votes due to Heppell having the expectancy from most to go well for whole year.(therefore nominate him on another week). The general football public may not realize how good Tappy is, and so he may get the chocolates on the basis that he may not have to many big weeks. But we no better, dont we.. (special nod to Roost it).

not sure this makes sense. sorry

Hope the TANK gets it for this week, every one i was sitting near loved how he played in his first match in the red and the blue. :)

After Jordie not getting a nomination last year i really think close calls favor higher draft picks

Tapscott must be in the mix after his debut though

I have never ever seen a first game player given the responsibility in kicking out after a point in 50 years watching this game

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think his 1st kick was a kick-in , near on made the centre .

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think James Strauss might have had some responsibility for kick ins in his first game last year.

Fantastic game from Tappy, did not for a second look out of place.

You're right.

mckernan?

but would love to see tappy get it, im contemplating a cheeky bet on him to win it, once he is nominated of course

Why wait for the odds to shorten. If you think he can win then you must believe he will get a nomination. Take the speculative odds now!

I think next week David Swallow will show what he's got and the whole thing will be over.

that is true, but none the less if tappy continues with first up form then he is a good chance although i think josh toy will be the highlight for gold coast

Absolutely.

I reckon Tappy deserves it, however it seems to me the media is grooming Heppell to be the next 'Golden Boy' after god Hird, especially given the divine intervention from the god himself.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
