Massive blow, but hopfully it'll give another player a chance to shine. Gysberts perhaps? At least Trenners is good to go for rnd1.

FOR F&%KS SAKE....we can never have a good start to the season. Really need others to step up now, but with our injury list as it is, I think we'll struggle to win a game in the first few rounds bar Brisbane.

Not Ideal. However it's good to see that Trengove 'should' be right to go according to Connolly. Especially with one of these two out, i would love to see Grimes move into the midfield for a fair chunk of the game - his hard ball winning skills go to waste drifting off for cheapies in the backline. We're better served to have hopefully Strauss/Tapscott play this QB role in the future.

Back to Scully's injury....It will only be a matter of time before the Scully to GWS pessimists go to town on this one.

He has had knee problems for a while, over training i am guessing.. a bit worried about Jordie, i think that is the reason he slipped so far into the drft and then into the RD.... hope he gets over it soon, he hsa huge potential and i a key part of our emerging midfield

What a blow for him after putting in so hard on the track (which no doubt is the cause).

The only upside in this is it will put a cloud over his head for any recruiter.

While I agree with your second point as knee injuries can be chronic and could bring down Scully's value, I doubt the knee issue is a result of going too hard on the track.

I'm no doctor but I've been in rehab with the same injury that Tom suffered pre-draft (I think my patella fracture was more severe than his), since Jan 2010. Unfortunately with that type of injury you sometimes have good days when you feel you can go harder, but ultimately your body won't physically allow you to push yourself if the knee is injured. Even if you want to push through the pain, you physically don't have strength or control in the knee to do it.

I hope Tom hasn't gone and developed tendinitis like I have, because that is apparently a 2 year injury, but I've been told it's rare to develop one because of the other.

In summary knees suck and I hope poor Tom can get himself right ASAP but sadly it's not the type of injury you can rush or magically cure.

Robert Campbell 6-8 weeks away,LOL,to think we got rid of a fit PJ !!!

Someone explain Bailey's logic, neither are guns and never will be but at least PJ is fit some of the time.

Right on the eve of the season - THIS. This would deflate morning glory!!!

However, because he is still developing it is not a massive blow. The mongrel is that pace is our major asset and he is super quick and super intense at the contest. Bail, Gysbert or Tapscott to replace him.

But I am getting sick of our injury-plagued starts to seasons.

I need a cup of coffee... no, a whiskey... no, an Irish coffee.

Let me play Devil's advocate. What the hell is our football department doing??? They hold Scully back for the majority of the pre-season because of his knee, then all of a sudden decide to play him at the end of pre-season and he does further damage to his knee. Very amateurish by our bloody football department if you ask me. Goes against the grain of recent times, when our staff have been overly cautious with the young kids, holding them back, but the most important one they rush??? Lets bloody hope they don't bring Chip back too early! And poor old Jordie can't take a trick either :(. It's amazing how players have 6 months to get their bodies right, yet on the cusp of the season-proper, they drop like flies. Speaks volumes about the preparation of AFL clubs, not just Melbourne's. As it seems to happen to most clubs too.

All i want, is for our list to be injury free come the start of a season, just once! Dammit.............who do i replace Sculls for in my Dream Team now?

With Scully down, it'sTime for Trengove to step up (not that he ever really went down) and show the AFL world why he was a #2 draft pick, that could have easily been a #1 pick.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res

Once again inaccuracy and inefficiency going inside 50 rears it's ugly head as the Demons suffered their second loss on the trot and their fourth loss in five games as they go down to the Pies by 38 points on Kings Birthday at the MCG.

It's Game Day and the Demons are once again faced with a classic 8 point game against a traditional rival on King's Birthday at the MCG. A famous victory will see them reclaim a place in the Top 8 whereas a loss will be another blow for their finals credentials.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag
