I didn't read anything in that article this morning that was new information.

Did I miss some little gem?

A submission will be put forward for some funding in the next state budget.

This may be out of left field, but if a Docklands base means that the whole club is located in one location then this is a good thing.

Not out of left field. I believe the club recognise this, as they alluded to a couple of years ago when news first broke on this project.

That is politican speak for " we have no intention of doing anything for 10 years but lets make them think something is imminent"

To house the whole club in 2-3 floors in the one complex along with matchday sized ovals would be superb. I think AAMI Park is great, but our own home would be better. When Essendon move to the new Airport facility remember AAMI will be out of date. We must remain cutting edge

It may well be old dee, but it's still the new information (little gem).

This is not mooted as a match day facility at AFL standard, but rather a training complex with all facilites needed under one roof, eg, Gym, Pool, Offices, Medical, adjacent oval AFL size, function room, shops etc.

I really hope so WYL as I have no intention of swapping my legs for wheels any time this decade.

I have no problem with the idea I just have a very cyncial view of politicians.

They all gild the lilly to suit there re election plans.

And god forbid but we have a PM that tell pork pies on a regular basis.

So I will believe it when it happens.

Good move if it comes off. Would be even further ahead of AAMI facilities once complete. Full size oval to ourselves, as I understand it. We STILL have to book sessions at the AAMI oval. I think it will be an area that will develop (i know its hard to see given the present failures of the Docklands area). However it will doorstep to the city, full of tourists and shops, its good exposure and a chance to have the most state of the art facilities of all clubs.

If we see ourselves outgrowing AAMI then we have to look at alternatives.

I know it makes a few dizzy after all the talk form the club saying they are so glad not to be nomadic anymore...

But, that's life. Things change.

I would love for Casey to have a 25k seater stadium that we play GWS, GC, PA, Freo, Adel, and WCE as it would make us a power club and assure our future but that is probably not going to happen...

As much as I think whilst playing home games in Victoria we should never have to play away from the G I like this idea, if we could negotiate some kind of deal where we played 4 games a year at a boutique stadium at Casey which resulted in us getting other games against Vic opposition at the G it would be a good thing. The Hawks adapted quickly after the 96 merger and we stood still, which is why we are playing catch up.

Big Jim made moves from 08 which have brought us financially to where we are today but as 2011 taught us we can't stand still and need to keep looking at ways to make the club a power again and keep ahead of the pack. Whilst I think we will always struggle to match the supporter bases of the Pies, Bombers, Hawks, Blues & Tigers I think the Casey move has given us a foothold in a growing area.

As other have said AAMI is a big step up from the Junction but the Cats and Bombers are already planning new state of the art facilities so the proposal is good for the club IMO and if it comes off even better!

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
