FORUM FOOTY AND FLOOD RELIEF BBQ

Hi Guys,

Just wanted to apologies firstly for the broken BBQ and the tardiness.

I wanted to report that demonland/demononlogy were very generous and we raised just under $300 dollars for the flood relief.

I think a special shout out needs to go out to Rollo once again who put so much time and effort into these matches which helps the demonland community and puts some faces to screen names.

Unfortunately wolfmother and mrs wolfmother are enjoying sausages for the next month :) I want to thank mrs wolfmother who did all the shopping and organising the spread.

Just thought I would ask all those who donated which relief they wish the money to go.

I know there is the QLD premier flood relief or did we wish for it to go to the victoria flood appeal (maybe red cross).

Regards

a few more thoughts from today...

mickrocks was the only survivor (playing today) from our very first game against saintsational, and that game was not so long ago...

demonstrates the value of recruiting new posters...

talkingcarlton were a strong, strong team the first time we played them, even more recently...

today they were down to 3 players...

demonstrates that these games cannot be organised by placing a thread on the board, past players need to be contacted by pm, email and/or text...

the talkingcarlton organiser, barnesy, is a good bloke and a decent organiser, they will come again...

welcome to our first gamers today, poseidon burke and happeninghaunts, come back fellas...

special thanks to our umpys, tyler and david, who are loyal to us and patient with the late starts etc...

DemonRevival went off early with a hammy, hope it comes good soon, mate...

also best wishes to Tingles, who went down before the game wrestling with furniture, hope it's not a heel because those are bad, bad injuries...

deemitch, stynes, scotty, steve, rollo2 and nat were good all day for the B team...

scotty demonstrated again that he knows where the goals are, but had to leave after the third quarter, if he had stayed ??

supermercado coached the Bs, and donned the boots and failed to injure himself or anyone else, good job mate...

junior, poseidon, steve the ruckman, mickrocks and big nev jetta were good all day for the As, and heater was a matchwinner when he arrived...

charlesy and toot were good for both teams, and none of our players were slack (there was no place to hide)...

many thanks to coach pringle, god (aka wolf) for the threat of an after-match bbq, and WJ for fronting up with the "duke" trophy...

looks like we will be keeping the duke for a while...

my sincerest apologies for the failure of the bulk of the demonology players to show up, and worse, not to let anyone know...

(rollo is not a happy demonologist at this moment)...

Amount of actual coaching done from the last line of defence highly questionable. Still, I wouldn't have recruited Fev.

Good fun - a nice surface and some fine skills on display.

Thanks to Rollo for your work with jumpers, water and all and thanks coach.

Well done Rollo, it's a pity others don't share your passion for these events...

My guests had a ball & are looking forward to our next conquest. Maybe getting the bf guys in the fold will increase the numbers, seeing as Ology guys don't seem interested...

Good effort Wolfie, impressive spread you & you better half laid out, gas bottles are my downfall to, pity you couldn't do a Macca's run..

Hammy has 6 months to recover ( i wish my house didn't have stairs throughout), it's not curtains just yet on the comeback, hopefully another couple of silly old fools give it a go to...

"Maybe getting the bf guys in the fold will increase the numbers, seeing as Ology guys don't seem interested..."

I would love to be able to join and post on bigfooty...

made 10 plus attempts, but have not been able to do it...

can you talk me through it, DR ??

meanwhile, the inquiry on demonology has concluded...

it was a monumental stuff-up in communication...

tassie dee is the demonology organiser...

he has played 4-5 impresssive games for us in the past, earning at least one BOG...

tassie was interstate on sunday, but had organised 7 demonology guys to turn up...

3 of them had a bucks night on saturday night, 2 were injured, one had a family function, and one turned up (nat) shocked that we did not know he was the only one...

all this information was sent to tassie, but he did not get it until he got back from interstate today...

all we can say from demonology is "sorry" and we will try to get the communication right next time...

Demon Revival's guests were a highlight. Neville Jetta Senior demonstrated where Neville Junior gets his skills from. Not bad for a 52 year old - demonstrated natural ability to read the play, positioning and second efforts. We gave him the play of the day award. Rodney was cool too and we wish him all the best at the Zebras. I've heard Mrs. Jetta signing her own compositions at earlier club functions. I reckon she's the secret to the family's success - a very smart lady who is also helping nephew Kelvin Lawrence overcome his homesickness by hosting him at their home.

Charlsey was well deserving of his Vin Cattogio award. I reckon he's in for a good season with the Ammos (I think that's where he plays).

I'm sure all the blokes enjoyed the day - even DR who pinged a hammy. Enjoyment of the game is the main thing.

Well done to the umpires. Not easy to umpire a game when both teams are wearing the same colours. At least they weren't wearing the red and blue.

To top the day off we were able to catch Aussie Cricketer Andrew McDonald (who plays premier cricket with the Demons) jogging a few laps during a break in the Shield Game over the road.

Well done again to Rollo for putting it all together so thoroughly as usual. Not a bad effort from new coach Pringle who now stands behind Dean Bailey and yours truly among the great Demon coaches in living memory.

Thanks to all for a good game! Agree re the comments on some creative scoring, I seem to remember a few more than 5 goals in the first term!

Also rollo I believe I was down for the first game vs saintsational so there is at least 2 of us!

Cheers,

TSF

No, TSF...

you will equal wise's record for the most games played (if you play next game and wise remains overseas), but I have the paperwork...

You played in our second forum game against saintsational...

mickrocks is the sole survivor from the first ever forum game we played...

search the site if you don't believe me...

but mick cannot get near you or wise for most games played...

Rollo, wouldn't our youngest player be close to the games record holder

I will consult the hard copy records, mate, but I think stynes had two games on you before you played your first as "scotty's little brother", so he is still one game ahead, having missed one that you played...

but you may be right...

the hard copy never lies, so I will get it out of the attic and let you know...

you are certainly the poster-boy of forum footy...

all the women who come say so... B)

Although we could probably give some money to our brothers in Christchurch as no one has replied I have given in all to the Red Cross flood appeal for the Victorian flood relief.

Rollo, Wolf - congratulations on organising what sounds like (lack of opposition numbers notwithstanding) another great day.

Hoping to be back in Aus for another run next summer. In the mean time I'll keep trying to get a kick here in China.

Go Dees!

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had
