Definately would want Lynch....

But who really knows? The Age thinks we will take Darling, sportsnewsfirst think Heppell will slide to us and the SUN thinks this.

My preferences of the players ive heard mention would be Lynch, Darling, Heppell, Gorringe, Jacobs.

I agree.

The good thing is that at least 1-2 of those look like being available at our pick.

I'd love Heppell, he's the prototype half back flanker that we need who, like Grimes, could one day move into the midfield. 75m player (runs 15m with the ball, kicks it 60m). Never thought he'd be available at our pick though

...and he is a future captain. But alas there is no way he will be there at pick 12.

I thought BP said at a draft night last year that he was not keen on drafting ruckman early? if that is in fact true than I can't see us being keen on Gorringe.

was that a comment in general? afterall, that was last year. circumstances may change year to year.

Not that I rate his opinion or anything...

But I think Jay Clark is on the money when he tweeted earlier today

Think Melbourne and Geelong will be the big winners of this draft. Or at least the 1st round. The planets are aligning for these two clubs.

Worth noting, as AoB has already done in their respective threads, that the Hun think we now have a good shot at either Heppell or Lynch, with GC17 going more on needs, Richmond pulling a shock move by taking Conca & Essendon choosing between Prestia & Atley.

Looks as if Smedts has dropped a bit down the order.

Dckhead rumours true maybe..?

More from him on twitter:

Still very confident Brisbane will go Polec at no. 5 and Richmond Conca at No. 6. Hepppell loooks the slider. Maybe Shaun Atley too.

Late draft news: essendon torn between atley and prestia. Think atley. Heppell slides to Melb at 12. Cats to pick btw i smith and smedts

@Jizzlobberz Gold coast will pick both talls, gorringe and lynch, prestia and seb tape. Means heppell is left for dees. Melb doin backflips

Heppell is drummond back flanker with huge midfield upside. Weapon left foot kick. Been top 5 all year. Groins absolutely fine. Fact.

Last one is obviously addressing the rumours his groins are the reason for his slide.

This is also addressed in the article AoB has linked to on the Heppell thread.

Get excited dees fans, we just may have won the lottery

The Hun have released an updated Phantom Draft now

-- Heppell sliding to us, just like in Emma Quayle's effort.

Usually when this stuff comes out late in the picture, it is dead on.

Last year it happened with Brad Shepherd shooting up the order to the Eagles.

The year before it was Stephen Hill comin from nowhere to pick 3, making Rich fall down the order.

The difference is that that late mail was for teams taking players much earlier than previously expected, too hard to predict how far a gun will slide.

Conca and Prestia are the 2 pushing their way up the order here.

Cross your fingers & toes.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
