Interesting reading.

Personally, hope Seb Tape lasts to our pick, Snoop Dog has him going 1 pick before ours.

Yeah, I was wondering if it was worth starting a Scott Lycett Thread after reading that.

I watched some old footage, and I think he might be onto something with him.

His kicking isn't flash, but it's something that can be worked on once we draft him.

Very good Phantom, in any case.

There's another there by a Collingwood supporter calling himself "Knightmare" who has only recently signed up to BF, but reads like a seasoned poster.

A bit of speculation floating around that it is Wisbey.

Either way, it's a quite decent Phantom also.

I notice that both 'Knightmare' and 'Snoop' have us picking Cameron Guthrie with our 2nd pick. In itself this obviously means nothing but notably they both rate him as a good get for that pick ie 32 is at the end of his range.

It's the same person as Knightwheelrqr ... changed his login.

Good drafts both.

Yeah, looks about right.

Not sure why he'd create another one.

He's already done a phantom as Knightwheelrqr also.

*Warning* - Don't bother opening if you have an adverse reaction to reading Bigfooty or Mock Drafts

For those who don't know Snoop Dog is a respected contributor on the Drafts & Trading board on bigfooty.

Every year he does a pretty detailed mock draft and it's worth a read especially for a description on the players.

A few now have Darling fall at pick 12. Including H... :)

Still not sold on Darling. We've put so much work into getting the bad eggs out of the list. It would be a shame to ruin it now.

I wouldn't be disappointed if they picked him. They'd be doing their homework. Besides, I'm not entirely convinced he is a bad egg.

For all we know, despite the reports, he's probably a good kid.

I can't argue with that. Rumours can get started over all sorts of crap, plas Sylvia was a bit wild as a lad. I've often preached faith in the recruiting department, so I'll have to tow the line here I guess. I'd still take Lynch at 12 if he's still there.

His description of himself is pretty unusual... If it's sort of jokey, then it's funny. if he's fully serious, it's a bit weird.

He's saying he is the basically a combination of the best attributes of Jono Brown and Buddy Franklin (which is basically the perfect footballer).

Tbh, to me it sounds like he rates himself very highly. Not sure if that's necessarily a good thing. A lot of players who have rated themselves extra highly in the past have ended up doing nothing.

On the other hand, if he really is that good, then I want him

These mock drafts are a bit like the Gallup Polls they put out before and during an election campaign. The only poll that really matters is the one that happens on election day. Similarly, the only draft that is really going to matter is the one that takes place on 18 November.

Still, it's an interesting distraction to read so many of the pen pictures and opinions as to what each of the clubs needs to enhance its list as well as to bring home the nature of the draft concessions available to the new franchises. I think the extent to which the Gold Coast has been empowered is clear and I suspect one or two of the other clubs are in for long periods where they will sit helplessly near the foot of the ladder because of poor trading and drafting policies and choices.

As far as Melbourne is concerned, it's good that we bit the bullet when Neale Daniher left and went for a youth policy. The club might have made some unpopular decisions at the time (and might make some more in the very near future) but they will prove to hold us in good stead one day.

I'm with you. Sounds like a bit of a "boisterous" kid .. but hardly a crime. I know of many people AFL players included that have done much worse settled down and made it.

Wonder if he might be the perfect kid to be better suited to get out of Perth than stay in it. Just a thought.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
