Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

The Bears can win @ Lambeau but it's an intimidating place and there's an enormous amount of pride at stake.  Not losing becomes a supreme motivating force in this great rivalry - the oldest rivalry in the sport.

I look forward to this clash and the return clash like no other.

It would be no different to the rest of you blokes ... there is always one team that you you just have to beat, no matter what.

And that team is?

Giants and Dallas are for most teams like Pies and Dons for us... You hate whichever one is more of a threat that year.

Personally though, I don't operate like that. I hate Giants #1... Dallas close second.

Which makes last weekend all the sweeter.

I'm away this weekend, would have been good to be able to watch TNF live for once... Think the Packers at home should get the job done but the bears have improved and their front 7 could cause problems, do the Packers have some starters back on O-line yet ?

On teams I love to beat obviously in the division Saints & Panthers but outside Seattle are one team I dislike and love to beat. Oh and Brady, Belichick and those Pats (if and when we can)

Bears front 7 looked like a sieve. Packers OL got the easiest drive you've seen. This game looks over already lol.

This game stinks. Nothing to see here. Except for Macca. Who's doing cartwheels.

The Bears get on the board ... a good play and a good throw by Glennon.  Chicago receive the ball first up in the 2nd half too.  It isn't over just yet Dappa.  GBSS?

We might have wanted to run the ball just so we get some numbers up but with Montgomery out with a rib injury,  we'll need Rodgers and the WR's to close it out.

Massive GBSS... lol (What does the SS part mean again?)

Yeah the injuries are cause for concern. but Bears overall are just putrid. One good drive does not an offense make.

SS = Supporter Syndrome.   We all suffer from it here to a certain degree.

But we're all Demons so that stands to reason haha.  The thinking transcends to other sports like a virus.

Right. I was away for a few years when the Scully one happened and never figured out what it meant.

It's a fail-safe method used by supporters of any team in any sport to guard against the disappointment of 'getting one's hopes up and then having those hopes being crushed' lol

A lot of it is fake though because that disappointment still happens anyway.  More fake news.

Romo is good at special comments ... calls it as he sees it and is not afraid to stick his neck out.  Gives good insight and likes to predict the plays.

That hit to Adams highlights how utterly dangerous this game is ... hope he is ok.  At best he'll have all limb movements but will need to sit out a few weeks or more.

Did the thumbs up to the crowd so that's something.

Yeah his hand was up on his helmet within a few seconds. But joisus that was a hit.

I get zero pleasure from ever seeing those types of hits ... regardless of who the player or team might be.

If that was Matthews as the perpetrator I'd be calling the bloke out.

Yeah I'm no fan of those. But I do understand that's the nature of American football as opposed to our game.

Those defenceless hits are being outlawed out of the game and not within time.

It was unnecessary, crude and shouldn't be happening.

If it was a Packer player I'd be saying the same thing ... in fact,  I've called out players like Matthews for stupid and unruly acts before.

If others get pumped up about stuff like that so be it ... I don't agree and never will.

Yeah. They haven't changed the rule though. They'll fine him 20 grand and nothing will change.

Yeah, I've never seen punters in USA get pumped up about the head high ones. The trouble is the big hits down the sideline that are on the body are one of the big features. They won't take those out of the game.

I'm not one of those who believes the game is becoming soft ... you could outlaw all the hits that could be classed as illegal and the sport would still be an ultra-violent one.

For instance, the knee being targeted by an opposition player leading with their helmet should be outlawed.  Just attack the torso - that's enough.  In a general sense, those leading with their helmets to an unprotected player should cop hefty suspensions.

It's not that way yet but it's heading that way.  And I'm in full support of it heading that way.

Is it not? They are being fined. Or at least some of the time are. The rules are in place. Maybe not being officiated as well as they could be?

The leg shots drive me nuts, but there again... You get these spectacular hurdles that get replayed and replayed. You know what they're like the Americans. You wanna make an omelette you gotta break a few eggs. Doesn't matter if you end the career of 3-4 Tight Ends a year, as long as we get our replays.

Fined or perhaps an 8 game suspension (or a season)

I feel the same way in the AFL ... Bugg was lucky to only get 6 weeks.  These sports are tough enough to play as it is but where these leagues can get really tough is with violent, illegal hits.

Have a zero tolerance and you'll effectively get rid of the problem.  The AFL has gotten rid of the thuggery that once permeated the sport and that's a good thing.

They've gone too far re the bump because incidental contact to the head is always going to happen.  It's a contact sport so therefore there will always be collateral damage.  Same deal with the NFL,  NRL & Union.

The helmet has become a weapon in the NFL and they need to outlaw it's illegal use.  Fines won't cut it.  Heavy suspensions will.  And that's where it is heading especially with the CTE that is now being exposed.

If people want to watch mindless violence,  go watch cage fighting or UFC.  That's not my bag but each to their own.

The culture is fairly broken. Did you know that they have discovered a better helmet that reduces the risks definitely, but the players never use them cos they look bad? Says it all.

Actually a Pack fan should know. A year or two after Rodgers took over from Favre, he had concussion issues and used one of those goofy helmets.

Yeah,  Rodgers missed a few games through concussion in that SB year ... but alliances aside,  I'm more viewing this from an overall league point of view.

Sometimes there is a catalyst moment and today might have been that moment.  He's got full use of all his extremities but what if he'd ended up in a wheelchair?

We should never wait for the worst to happen before instigating change.

I'm not necessarily pointing the finger at the Bear player either ... what he did doesn't carry enough consequences so like many others,  he and they will do whatever it takes.   Adjust the consequences and then change happens.

Leigh Matthews would have had to have changed the way he played in order to play the modern version of AFL.  And of course, he would have done that and still been anointed as a champion player.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
