Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Ha ha, yeah I marvel and Brady and wish he played for the Rams. ?

As for Wentz and Goff, so far Wentz has out shine Goff by a fair margin, Goff is bringing that margin back but if things keep tracking the same both will be very solid QB's. Goff a more safer, sure passer with Wentz a more, dare I say Rodgers style QB who rips it and then does these absurd passes down town.

Yeah. Wentz deep ball isn't accurate. That's why I asked. Goff has this awkward pocket presence that they identified on the weekend, how he doesn't step up, backs out to give himself more time which is something that plays into the hands of the opposition. Thing is, that's fixable. He doesn't lean on his athleticism like Wentz. He's more like a Brady/Manning style passer that lives and dies by his accuracy and release.

All the stuff you can measure and can't really fix, like release time, accuracy, decision making etc... Goff's got those in spades. Wentz has got out to the early lead, but I think Goff has the potential to go past him. Albeit not by a lot. I see Wentz more as currently a Rothlisberger type. Big heavy lad who moves great and can throw. His attitude is exemplary, and he's a great leader. But when it comes down to that last play in that clutch game for the title, and you need a quick accurate pass. I think Goff might be the guy you lean towards.

Good time to be Eagles and Rams.

Did anybody get ANY right? lol Quick scroll back I think most people I looked at whiffed on all three. Impossible week to pick.

No winners Dappa ... there were 10 road favourites too, which is about as big a number as it gets.

And it looks like a race in 3 for your division ... the Giants are still capable though and can either play spoiler or get on a roll.  The NFC North is much the same with the Bears perhaps being a fair bit better than we thought.

Packers host Chicago on Thursday night and we'd want to play a lot better than what we've shown so far in order to win.  Looking ahead we're at Dallas in week 5 - another tough one.  But there's a lot of tough games.

Eagles are @ the Rams next up ... Goff vs Wentz.  That could be quite a game.

I thought we played the cowboys this week. lol

Ha ha ... it's hard enough getting used to the LA Chargers & the LA Rams but now I'm mixing up the 2 LA teams.  WTF.

Anyway ... you're hosting the Eagles in week 14 so the Goff vs Wentz match-up happens then.  I was only 3 months out Gorgo.

Oh ... and good luck at Jerry's world next week.  An early game too.

The way we are against the run, bank on Elliot runnin 150 yards.

I watched them today and do not think they are playing great football so I give us a bit of a chance, prob 30/70. Normally that would be 0/100 ha ha

Every year it's close. Eagles have the 2-0 division record. Giants 0-2, Skins 0-1 and Dallas 1-0... Every year it comes down to that metric. And Eagles have the start to stay in it now thanks to a ridiculous kick.

I still have Dallas comfortably taking the division. But Eagles will have to be thereabouts now. The draw isn't too bad either, somehow.

Yeah they're a damn talented football side. A lot will depend on pass rush. If Lawrence gets to Goff, things will get dicey. How good is a high octane offense tho. All those good receivers. Goff has the weapons. I'll tune in.

My thoughts on the 10 second run off rule are if it's 1st or 2nd down that's really unfair because I'd back a team to line up and spike the ball within the 8 or so seconds that were left if they had to.

The Lions were on 3rd down so if it was called a no score correctly the first time they would've had to be seriously quick to get lined up and run any kind of coherent play and so the 10 second run off makes sense. In this situation I guess you have to always throw so it ends up in the end zone. The falcons defender comes off his man and makes one hell of a tackle to stop him short, so credit to Atlanta for a great play as well.

The 10 second rule is logical and consistent if not always fair I guess.

On PTI today Kornheiser was suggesting that an un-timed down could be given considering that Detroit were not to know that Tate didn't get into the end zone and score.  Play stops in that situation to review the scoring opportunity.

A day later and I tend to agree with Tony ... the issue then becomes when is an un-timed down given and when is it not.

It's interesting that Golden Tate has now been involved in a few of these types of TD incidents.

AFC
N: Steelers dragged down a level, Ravens and Bengals yuck
E: Pats rolling, Bills frisky
S: Titans steam rolling, Jags and Texans have something
W: KC firing, Denver and Oakland not as convincing, poor Chargers

NFC:
N: Looks a fun division. Packers need to stop the injuries. Vikings need reliable QB play because the rest is great. Lions somehow are now dependable in some odd way. Bears will live and die on getting easy run defenses.
E: Big test for Cowboys tomorrow. Giants are such a waste of talent. Eagles need a run game, hope they found it. Washington aren't done yet
S: Falcons scraping in again. Odd games elsewhere else. Think it could have a few twists and turns
W: Could the Rams win it?

Titans looked super and I'm liking what I'm seeing from the jags. Texans with Watt, Clowney and Mercilus are always going to give their O chances as they are three of the best.

Cowboys played today and won. Not convincing tho.

Still think Seattle will be the winners of our div, but we are showing something.

I'm not so sure... Their offense would need to improve, especially their O-line which has been a concern for over 12 months now. I can't believe their in the top few with all betting agencies to win the SB

Agree. Not saying they're rubbish, but they're not amazing either.

Mind you. That D. Phew.

But that's the thing, their D is great (although Sherman should have been ejected this last game just gone) and Wilson can make things happen. If he gets his mojo back... who knows.

I just don't trust the Rams to win enough games. Bit scarred after all these years. Ha ha

Yeah, sounds to me like you're not giving your offense the respect it's slowly earning. Probably smart though we're only 3 games in. And Seahawks have been there done that.

I feel a bit the same about Eagles. Cowboys have been patchy, but are still 2-1 and undefeated in the division. I feel like Eagles are playing about as well as they can. So yeah, playing for second and a wild card really.

No winners this past week and it doesn't get any easier in week 4 (1 point)

Keep in mind that the odd numbered weeks from here on in count for 2 points (except week 17 where we play for 3 points)

Leaderboard in the comp

3 - JV7

2 - Dappa Dan

1 - Go the Biff,  Clintosaurus,  Macca

0 - The usual suspects

Can we trust the Jags yet?  ... and surely Cinci & the Giants will get on the board soon.  There's sure to be some upset road wins but which ones?  Don't ask me.

Not a super round of games but there are 7 divisional match-ups ... and those games are often close.

Really looking forward to tomorrow's game, good to see how the bears are travelling and if the Packers can get some serious mojo back.

no idea if they have any of their O-line back for this game but I'm sure Rodgers is hoping they are.

Comfortably backing the Packers. But these games are often a surprise.

Oh I expect the packers to win but it's going to be how and by how much. Not as guaranteed as it usually is.

Yeah. And then there's Rodgers... Either he goes off and we see fireworks (and Cobb gets me 30 points in fantasy)... or his line screws up and we get to see him throwing on the run, which is always pretty amazing... And maybe that causes a close game.

In any case. Packers are always a treat. Like watching Seahawks D, Broncos D, Brady, Atlanta in general, Newton, OBJ...

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
