Thankfully PCL and no surgery but with bad achilles now as well I'd say we've seen the best of CMC. Will be a big ask to hit those heights again and really the coach needs to take some responsibility for overusing him.

Incidentally Jordan Mason the no.2 is out of the season as well.

I think he can get back to his best, but they should bring his snaps down some to help preserve him. Especially vs the Rams... 0 snaps every time :P

He very well could Gorg but at 28 y.o it can be tough for a RB especially once those big injuries kick in. I'm sure he'll still provide great value, but his season last year was truly something else.

I'm actually not always a fan of having a sole RB and especially not in the offense we play. I really prefer a 70-30 ratio with someone like Mason predominately doing the 'meat grinding' runs.

Ever since CMC came here Kyle gives him 20-25 hand-offs a game. He's someone who likes to take his Ferrari off road driving..

Agree on the sharing, We looked much better with Blake Corum getting a good amount of carries as well as Williams.

Exactly.

Also Michel and Henderson the year you guys won it, perfect example!

Lions more beaten up, another 2 D-line missing and the LT, all ruled out.

Packers could be a show this week?

Yeah, I was close to tipping them, if I knew the outs I prob would have chosen them.

Bengals, Bills, Seahawks

If the Packers are going to feature prominently in the playoffs, we'll need to win this match against a banged up Detroit defence

In saying that, Detroit still have plenty of weapons on their offense (averaging 32 points per game)

Might be a shoot-out as the Green Bay offense has been quite reasonable this season

RBs tend to flame out very quickly, especially following injuries, unless they are Derrick Henry. Most have about 4 years of domination and then fall of a cliff.

looking forward to todays game. should be a ripper. given the Lions thread bare defence i reckon the Packers will get it done.

my tips for the week:

Packers, bills, bengals

Exactly right Gonzo, they can come and go like comets.

The greatest RB of all time Jim Brown played 8 seasons. Barry Sanders 9, Terrell Davis 6 etc. I know there's longer term examples but it is a churn and burn lifestyle.

I'm thinking it too BDA. Didn't tip them but a sneaky bet has been made.

nothing wrong with Lions defence thus far. they are bringing the heat

Exactly

The Lions are playing like their defence is at full strength!!

The Packers 9 & 3 record is flattering as we've had a soft schedule

Packers getting their run game going this drive. 1st and goal so great chance to get on the board.

They (Detroit) are just a really good team

Packers get the ball first in the 2nd half and have to score a TD ... field goals won't win this match as Deroit will almost certainly put up 30+

and they duly oblige

3 point game

goff throws the terrible pick to give packers great field position. Packers get the Td and just like that they are ahead.

i'm feeling good about my smokey (if you can consider a 9-3 team a smokey)

Campbell is too aggressive with his 4th down play calling. Lions fail to convert and hand the ball back in great field position.

There's a reason no one else is that aggressive. it doesn't pay off overall. Cost the Lions the championship game last year.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
