The Billie Smedts Thread

He's predicted to go around the time of our first pick (mid to late first round) and I think be could be exactly what we're hoping Strauss might one day turn into, albeit without quite as good a leg on him.

If we don't get a KPF, I hope he's the one we go for (unless there's a massive slider).

I'd be happy if we picked him up based on the bits I've seen and read. He's kicked a few bags of goals when moved forward in TAC cup, so he's got some nice versatility too..

We don't really need another KPD, I think a Smedts type would compliment Frawley & Garland well. Delivery out of defence has to improve and this kid looks to be pretty capable in that respect.

I know they are 'highlights' but based off his pace, balance poise and heart I would be thrilled to use the first pick on him.

He is great in this youtube clip, it does look like he is playing against little boys though.

One of those little boys for Xavier is Dan Hannebury I believe. The rest are absolutely little boys though

*BUMP*

This is the guy I want for pick 12.

I think we are shorter on class in our small - medium defenders than our T/Forwards. So as I look more, I would not be unhappy Now if we take a Heppell or Smedts Type or a Gaff,, if they were to slide through.

If we happen upon another pick around 20, then that would be a plus for a Tall.

I'd prefer a player like Smedts that is earmarked as a HBF because they give us that bit extra in the drive zone.

Smedts, Caddy or Brodie Smith will do me just fine, if we don't get Lynch or Darling.

Either way, there'll be a lot to gush about.

Was Darling the young boy who was bashed? there seems to no news on how the young boy has been going.

He was. Recovering ok, I think.

He attended the Draft Combine and participated in interviews and psych tests.

And does anyone know how those said tests went? Interesting if missing out on Hale might bring a Darling or lynch into consideration moreso now. We seem to have the quota of middies sorted, Smedts is damn tempting though.... ahhh it is hard.. what a decision.

Yeah, my relatively uneducated preference goes in order:

Lynch

Smedts

Darling

Smith/Harper

Caddy

Pitt

I wouldn't discount McCarthy or Lycett being part of the equation either.

I just watched the Smedts & Darling videos, and I know I've been see-sawing, but seeing these vids,,, I finally favour the mid sized player with our 1st Pick & a tall with our 2nd.

Smedts is agility personified.

He would be perfect on a HBF with Grimes on the other.

Smedts can play forward & back well! Could also devolop into an attacking midfielder from YouTube observation. The only position he wouldn't be able to play is ruck. I would be gutted seeing him in another jumper if we passed him up. Disappointed we missed out on Roary Sloane who went too Adelaide. Smedts would defintely make up for that disappointment!

Who from our list would you swap for Sloane?

You have to be realistic about how many players we can acquire through the draft.

Hell, I want Lynch, Smedts AND Darling.

I know in the end I'll end up hating at least one of them with a passion.

My wish list would be something like,,,, these that I've seen footage of & heard/read good reports of,,, >

Gorringe

Smedts

Harper/Lamb

Darling/Cook

------------

Cook/Mitchell/Green/Sinclair/

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
