MFC Rumours

Matthews said on the telecast of the Freo - Blues game that the one big hole for Carlton was the lack of a big key defender. Given his brother plays there what chance a trade with the blues, Warnock (and perhaps a draft pick and McNamara/Cheney) for say Lachie Henderson

Yeah, Carlton's going to give up their promising young forward, their only one, for a defender they don't really need.

Not a chance in hell. The blues have barely any tall forwards as is and you think they would even entertain a trade for henderson? In the words of Michael Caton.......tell him he's dreamin!

Not the worst thing I have heard. Kosi might be a bit hit or miss but he is a big body that we need at the moment. If we picked him up for not much then I'm happy to endorse it.

Even if St Kilda were to entertain the idea of a trade for Kosi, which i believe isn't even on the cards, the price we would have to pay to get him would be ridiculous. Anyone who thinks Warnock and a second round pick for Kosi would get a deal done has absolute rocks in their heads.

Warnock for Kozi i wouldn't be happy with, but the idea is right... ie trading our fringe Key defender for a big bodied forward/ruckman

Warnock i would keep as very good depth unless a seriously good trade was possible, and Kozi isn't a seriously good trade. Neither is a guy like David Hale... those kind of trades would be like us trading in Ben Holland, where you get someone servicable, but you don't get a player who can really take the club forward.

Warnock + 2nd round ---> Mitch Clarke.... that is a seriously good trade i would consider since it would solve 2 big defficiencies in one, a really good big-bodied forward option + genuinely good 2nd ruckman

Another ridiculous trade suggestion. 1. Brisbane would never entertain trading Mitch Clark. 2. What you are offering is so far short it is funny.

What you are suggesting is a fringe backman and a pick somewhere in the 30's for a bloke who was arguably the best ruckman in the league last year and a very talented footballer. Are you serious.

To get a bloke like Clark would cost us way too much. You would be talking Warnock and maybe another player plus at least the first round pick. Get your head out of the sand people and be realistic.

Agree. This one could be realistic. That way we could still get a KPF like cook or lynch in the draft as a first rounder.

Wow. What a "nice" reality you must live in.

And so it begins, people inflating the value of fringe players and second round draft picks for top line opposition players and thinking that we will be able to pull the wool over opposition clubs eyes. Please.

What about Warnock for Waite ?

What about Warnock for Waite ?

I love the way Waite attacks the footy out of the goal square. Good player.

Unfortunately however, he is a very important player for Carlton. Probably in their top 6-7 most important players structurally. So they wouldn't even entertain trading him i would think

Went to school with Waite, didn't even know at the time he was a chance of being recruited to an AFL club, caught up with him in South Africa at the exhibition match in 2008. A useless post, sorry just bored at work...:)

Oh and would see no chance of us securing his services at this stage

Anyone who wouldn't take the Kozi for Warnock swap is kidding themselves. Warnock may be too good for VFL standard but he is a surplus defender for MFC who was beaten soundly by a pretty average full forward in Schultz last week. Its great to have him in case of injuries but would much rather have Kozi as key target up forward and 2nd ruckman. Even if he was not rejuvenated by moving to a new club and his output didn't improve on this year... at a bare minimum he provides much needed depth in the ruck and in the tall forward department. Imagine if Jamar gets injurred next season(touch wood)... Spencer/PJ cannot carry the ruck duties by themselves so we would have to play both meaning we are down a midfield rotation.

This trade will never happen because the Saints are not stupid enough to accept such 1 sided trade.

I heard on SEN1116 today a possible trade: WARNOCK for KOZI I for one think this would be a definate win win for both parties.

This one actually makes sense. Should it be in this thread?

Spud for good fringe defender?

Win/lose. We're the losing side.

How he won a friggin' Rising Star award I'll never know

As another poster said: "Its that time of year again"

Granted Kosi is a tall but hasn't performed for aeons. I'd still consider other offers though....

Great point. He kicked 5 the previous week.

Good move give them a depth player plus an effective third round draft pick for a player who was almost AA. *Smacks forehead and shakes head* Its one way deal FCS.

Thank God there are others around here who understand how insanely one-sided this deal is. Sure, St. Kilda need a Warnock-type, but not as badly as they'd need Kosi.

For any of us lacking faith in the FD's capacity to identify trade options, I would draw their attention to yesterday's VFL final between Collingwood and The Bullants. Buckley, Johnston and Mclean were all running around looking rather ordinary. We are developing quite the happy knack for divesting ourselves of weak links for minimal cost.

One thing that never ceases to amaze me is the way simple things get blown out of proportion. On friday night, SEN were asking for people to sms in trade potential trade deals. I was the person who sms'd the Kosi trade scenario simply as a suggestion based on nothing concrete. At the time they were talking about Kosi and potential suitors, hence I sent in the Warnock scenario.

The SEN team simply read the text out on air. There is nothing to the rumour. St Kilda wouldn't trade Kosi as they have invested too much into him. They do however need a solid defender.

Uh... That's overworking your muscles in an effort to build strength.

NOT trying to bulk up because you are getting beat up by mature bodied opposition.

Still, people will hear what they want to hear.

At the risk of getting barred from the Demonland site, Pull your head in D!ckhead.

Do you write the BS you write to just argue for the sake of it? Its not only in this thread i have seen you do this type of thing.

OMG, WOW you have an opinion, so does everyone else, and all to many times I have seen you be plain rude with your comments / feedback! I dont mind being wrong, hell with this rumour i pray i am, but all i did was write what i was told on a thread titled MFC Rumours (which i started mind you).

So next time feel free to post your opinion or disagree with whatever you see, just dont be rude or get personal with people, it just shows poor class.

Responding to your comments - none of us are doctors, but i would say a young AFL player could possibly be overworking there muscles in an effort to build strength to bulk up a bit and cope with the bigger bodies of AFL??? See how both fit into the same sentence, so just in case you need it explained twice - he was hitting the gym with the aim of being able to cope in the packs, he overworked his muscles (got that part from you!), and has a slight case of OP because of it.... sound plausible??

Hey, I'm sorry but if people are stupid enough to misunderstand the causes of OP and talk crap, then I'm going to pull them up on it.

It's debate, not abuse, and we are dealing with facts, not opinion.

It seems more than a few of you are too stupid to see that though.

Shame.

I've always felt that faceless posting could lend itself to rudeness, sarcasm and the absolute lack of respect for the posters and contributors.

It should be about debate, discussion and the airing of an opinion without personal attacks....but, I digress.

Wouldn't Kosi also command a fat contract, considering he's already signed with the Saints? Secondly, if the rumour is true, when did he last play a good game?

Like our Belly, I don't think he's been right since that clash with Giansiracusa.

Well said...

Heard today at the Melb Pres function that search firm has been asked to come up with a shortlist of at least 10 candidates. Essendon will be aiming for an experienced coach, Neil Danaher is in the mix, as well as Denis Pagan Im told.

Personally I think they will go with Laidley.

    BLOODY BLUES by Meggs

The conclusion to Narrm’s home and away season was the inevitable let down by the bloody Blues  who meekly capitulated to the Bombers.   The 2024 season fixture handicapped the Demons chances from the get-go with Port Adelaide, Brisbane and Essendon advantaged with enough gimme games to ensure a tough road to the finals, especially after a slew of early season injuries to star players cost wins and percentage.     As we strode confidently through the gates of Prin
