We'll see. That was the most half hearted denial from his managment you'll ever see...

Rubbish article. Agree with everything above.

Well what do you expect his management to say!??? They would not be acting in his best interests if they didnt exploit the fact that there is interest elsewhere. Frankly, he'd be sacking his management if they didnt take advantage of the situation.

Good luck to him whatever he does, A footballer has a very short career and is entitled to maximise his income (particularly when you are a little injury prone).

I was seen at the Melbourne game in Geelong on the weekend, but I will categorically say that I am not moving to Geelong, despite the fact that it must have appeared that way.

I feel pretty confident Ricky will re-sign with us. Yes the Gold Coast lingers as an interesting possibility for him, but I find comfort in a statement he made on twitter just after his injury. I'm paraphrasing but it was along the lines of: "Disappointed about the shoulder but look forward to wearing the red and blue again in 2011".

I'll try and find the exact quote and post it.

Note: Edited to appease Vagg

Ah! My kingdom for a hyphen! That word is a dandy, eh?! "resign", and he's outa here. "re-sign", and he's stayin'!

Gotta love the English language!

(Sorry, PM! Not meaning to have a go...!)

Oh, rats! And there I was, about to start the rumour you had been signed to replace Gary Jnr next year...!! (LOL)

According to today's Age, Ricky Petterd returned to the Gold Coast at the weekend to take in the local VFL game...

http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/speculation-follows-petterd-to-gc-20100530-wngd.html

I think Ricky may have played his last game for the MFC unfortunately.

Yes, god forbid that he may have wanted to visit his family who live on the GC and that he may have wanted to take in a game of footy while he is there and maybe the chance catch up with a few playing mates.... "the sky is falling!! the sky is falling!!"

PM, that's not good enough for some on here apparently... in the other RP thread there was a response to that Tweet, that indicated there is a small amount of blue in the GC's predominantly Red and Yellow team colours :)

People should check out his twitter account. He seems very loyal to the team. His last dozen posts have included multiple references to him being excited to get back down to the club after his time up North.

That's one thing that club has gotten right. The culture and atmosphere at the club that the boys seem to really love being apart of it. That is worth just as much as an extra bit of money to sportspeople in my mind. Look at all the Geelong players taking below market value to stay at the club. People should have a bit of fait and stop worrying just because some journo speculates over the possibly of Ricky leaving us to go to the GC.

Ricky would be mad not to entertain the GC offer, but this does not mean he will go. I think its a 50/50.

As for Ablett. I think he is almost certainly leaving Geelong and going to play with his brother at GC next year. If Ablett was not going surely he would have told Geelong and neutralised the situation. Remember we are talking about a bloke who tries to stay out of the media spot light. I think Ablett to GC is about 90/10 to move North.

Judging by the responses by some of you blokes it would seem that DeesPower was bursting at the seams to let everyone know the bad news.

Chill out everyone, he was adding something for conversation, not stating any facts.

The FACTS are that GC17 have signed a number of players currently at other clubs and are not at liberty to disclose who these players are due to a gagging order by the AFL.

I do not want Ricky Petterd to leave the Melbourne Football Club, but i think it would be naive to think that he has definetly not signed with GC17.

I really hope he stays, he is incredibly exciting to watch and seems to love playing for the club.

Good form 45.

Glad you are contracted to MFC for next year

Whilst I agree Pettard in GC watching GC17 doesn't confirm anything... it does just add to more speculation he is leaving.

There sure are a lot of things pointing to him going:

- Pettard is from the goldcoast and he has family and friends there

- He is a good player, a goal kicker, still young, and the exact type of player GC17 would be after

- He follows GC17 on twitter and went to watch there match this week- clearly he has been taking a very strong interest in them. I don't think there is any doubting that

- He has been quoted as saying (paraphrase)- 'i love the demons and would like to stay, however i would also love to play in front of my family and friends'--- clearly there is an internal struggle going on

Ultimately, he may stay. If he does, it would be because he realises that the demons have such an exciting future, both on the field, and off (moving into first class facilities in a month).

However I would be completely unsuprised if he left. I don't think the rumours are completely just false rumour mungering.

Luckily Pettard is a medium forward, a position that is not critical to the team (cf a key position player or ruckman) and we have plenty of other medium sized forwards- Sylvia, Green, Jurrah, Jetta

Clearly, Ricky's quote (post injury) that he couldn't wait to pull on the red & blue again next year....doesn't hold much weight ?

I know I posted something about this a few weeks ago. Must have flown straight through to the Keeper.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
