Changes for next week?

Featured Replies

I thought Wonaemirri was good today...plenty of defensive pressure, he just kept tackling.

In: Scully, Trengove, Bate

Out: Garland, Rivers, Bennell maybe?

IN Sculgove and Bate

OUT Wona, Garland(inj), Rivers

Rivers has been close to being dropped for some time now and I doubt even Garland going down will save him next week with Carltons small forwards to match up on. Disappointed in him, I had high hopes he`d make some inroads this year, sadly he`s gone backwards.

Cheney a big chance for a game too

Bate should replace Miller. Millers job is done if Bate is fit.

If Garand injured then McKenzie.

Scully and Trengove for ????? to hard.

I think Bruce and Rivers will both keep their spot. Rivers had a shocker today, but I think he will be given the oportunity to redeem himself.

OUT: Rivers, Joel Mac, Morton, Wonna

In: Scully, Trengove, Bail, Mckenzie, Cheney/Strauss(Whoever plays well for Casey)

In: Bate, Scully, Trengove

Out: Garland (inj), Rivers, MacDonald

If Garland comes up, then swap him for Wonaeamirri. I don't really want to drop Wonaeamirri as his entire problem is fitness based, and on that regard I think there's more benefit to him playing in the MFC side than Casey. By the same token, it's Carlton and I want to smash the snot out of them at all costs, so I wouldn't be that upset if it happened.

As usual, everyone who has Bruce in their outs is going to be disappointed next Thursday.

Cheney won't be picked -- there's too many ahead of him at this point. I'd definitely prefer Bail if we were after a fourth 'in', or Bate doesn't come up. Anyone who thinks Cheney is going to be useful against Betts/Yarran/Garlett are kidding themselves.

Well, the Scullgove twins and McKenzie have to come in, today showed how much we actually need them. Cheney should be rewarded for great Casey form and be included to take on their small forward line. Bate should return from injury too.

IN - Trengove, Scully, Bate, McKenzie, Cheney

Garland's injured, Wonna's not match fit, MacDonald will be burnt for pace.

OUT - Garland (knee), Wonna (unfit), MacDonald (too slow), ???, ???

Am I missing anybody?

@ bennell i thought he was average today (same with jetta) but would be very harsh to drop them after last weeks performance.

i cant see them dropping wonna after 2 games (especially since he looked a lot better this week) after recalling him so quickly, coaching staff must think giving him running around in the seniors is better then getting some match fitness at casey

IN - Scully Trengove Bate

OUT - Jones, Rivers & Garland (injured)

Jones is a out for me, imo he seems to be kicking worse and worse every game. He i just starting to look like a hack footballer. Rivers is more of a hack than Jones.

Jones actually used the ball well today. He was great last week on Pearce and wasn't disgraced today on Ablett. He'll be in next week no doubt.

What the...

*shakes head in bemusement*

Out: Rivers, Garland (inj), MacDonald, ?

In: Bate, Scully, Trengove, Bail/Mckenzie(whoever plays best tomorrow)

In Bate, Scully, Trengove, Strauss/Bail (dependant on performance)

Out Rivers, Garland (inj), Wonna, MacDonald

So I gather from the above in most cases, we put out 3 defenders and replace them with two mids and a forward in Bate ???

Little puzzled as to why some query Jones kicking today. Jones hit up inside our forward 50 with precision on both feet numerous times. He was also the most efficient within the midfield with disposals (86%).

I'd dump Rivs, Jetta, Garland ( if inj requires), possibly Mac as blues have 1-2 talls

In Sculls, Trengove, McKenzie, Bate

Team Balance Change

In - Spencer

Out - 1 defensive support tall (Rivers or McDonald (Garland if injured)

So far this season we have generally resolved team balance re Rucks v Talls v Runners by playing One Ruckman to allow an extra runner to play with support in the ruck either coming from a utility in Sylvia/Dunn or a tall forward in Miller. Going forward I would prefer to see Spencer/Martin come in as a Second Ruck and for a defensive tall to go out. Rivers or McDonald for mine though might be Garland if he is injured. This then sees a more traditional structure of Miller and Watts as 2 talls in the forward line, Jamar and Spencer as the 2 rucks, Frawley and Warnock as the 2 talls in defence with support from 2 of Garland/Rivers/Macdonald. We still get to play the extra runner but at the expense of a surplus defensive tall rather than a 2nd ruck or 2nd tall forward.

There will be other changes obviously.

Ins - Scully, Trengove, Bate

Outs - hmmm..

Bennell (has shown what he is capable this year but poor today... rested/dropped?)

Rivers (awful today/match up v Carlton?)

Joel Macdonald (i am not his biggest fan...match up v Carlton?)

...of course I'd drop Bruce but I don't think I am going to get that wish!

Team

B Bartram Warnock Garland

HB Grimes Frawley Bruce

C Scully Gysberts Morton

HF Bate Watts Trengove

F Davey Miller Green

R Jamar Jones Junior Mac

Ic Spencer Sylvia Wonaeamiri Jetta

Emerg... McKenzie, Bail, Cheney

Why is Mckenzie an automatic selection. He was dropped for poor form. See how he goes tomorrow for Casey. Hopefully Garland will be ok but with Carltons forward line we should expect to go in small.

Given Carlton's small forward line, what about sending Bennell back there where he used to play. Certainly, he would out mark the Blues mosquito fleet and would match them with pace. I'd also consider Cheney who would also match them for pace and out muscle them. I agree macdonald and Rivers should be rested as they would be too slow this week.

Mckenzie? Dropped for poor form? What?

IN: Bate, Martin, McKenzie, Scully, Strauss, Trengove

OUT: Garland (inj), Bartram, Bennell, Jetta, Miller, Rivers

FB: Frawley, Warnock, Strauss

HB: MacDonald, Martin, Grimes

C: Morton, McKenzie, Scully

HF: Sylvia, Bate, Davey

FF: Watts, Green, Wonna

FOLL: Jamar, Moloney, McDonald

INT: Bruce, Gysberts, Jones, Trengove

EMERG: Bennell, Jetta, Spencer

You do not need defensive height you need defensive mobility against Carlton. Morton, Bruce, Grimes, Bartram can all play back. Strauss or Bail to come in to offer another defensive small option.

Jones disposal and offensive run was good today. Its a shame he let the guy he was tagging get 21 touches in the first half.

Thought Bartram turned ballover too many times.

Should be given a spell, Bartram, Rivers, Bruce Garland (inj)probably Wona (really needs to find some fitness).

Why drop Bennel after one poor game? He kicked four the week before and may do the same next week.

Would love to see Maric in. Wouldn't be keen to see Martin return unless he play down back

It is, but can you (or anyone) name a single tagger in the league who's done any kind of job limiting Ablett's damage in the last few years? Because I certainly can't.

Bennell won't be dropped. The selectors' memory is not that short -- he was fantastic last week.

No room for Maric in the side for mine. I'm having a hard enough time fitting in the automatic selections, let alone players in the Casey team who are a fair way down the queue in terms of deserving a run.

I don't care who goes out, but we need Scully, Trengove and Bate back.

I'd also look at maybe rewarding Cheney with a game, given Carlton have plenty of small forwards we need to cover.

cheney defintaley deserves a game...especially after rivers poor showing

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.
