I would not have a crack at any of those players besides taylor walker because they are either no good or would cost to much and be a massive rish....whereas taylor walker wouldn't cost too much and has shown a lot in his short career....although from all reports is a massive turd of a bloke but who cares if he can play footy!

Taylor Walker sounds about the right size to me as we have other taller & different playing styled types on the list.

We don't have someone in the old Neitz size & strength + skillset. I recall thinking that Taylor Walker, before he was drafted was a likely type forward. Maybe he can become that type of player.

I wouldn't mind seeing Scott Simpson picked up in the rookie draft personally. He's a big lad, 196 cm, and has some really nice aggression. Looks like he moves pretty well too. I just loved that tackle he put on at Casey two weeks ago, even if it did get him suspended. We could use a guy like that.

Without wanting to go into details, Thorp is a serious liability. His talent was not enough to ensure he stayed on an AFL list.

I would really like too see us pick up Ryan Murphy from freo. I no him (not very closely) but he comes from my home town and my wife and I are friends with his sister and brother in-law. Anyway he is out of contract next year was a high draft pick, a few years back is a very good forward but can not get a game for freo and has struggled ever since being on the list. Apparantly he and pav don't get on and pav rules the roost. Anyhow I have been interested in Melbourne perhaps pursuing him for a few years now that he is 25 and out of contract with limited afl opurtunities his stocks will be very low and a great chance too get quality for little cost. Any one who wants too have a crack at this suggestion (as that's all it is) do some research on him as he dominates the wafl comes in for a game here and there with freo plays ok they get beat and he gets dropped! I believe he is on target to kick 80+ goals this year.

Incidentally, I liked Jason Akermanis' idea to have a mid-season draft in the AFL. We used to have one in the early 1990's but it was made redundant.

Personally, I think it would be better to try and take a good young-gun key forward in the AFL draft at the end of the season. Although, I don't think there will be much left after the Gold Coast get their multitude of early draft picks.

I think you may be missing the point of others that there are some underlying issues that will prevent Thorp from ever being on an AFL list again. I don't know what these are, but in the current climate today, his issues may not be worth taking on.

I'm not thinking of someone to replace Watts. Broaden your thinking a bit. I'm talking about someone who can hold down aa F/F spot at around the 6'3" mark that can play the goal square or other parts of the ground. To supplement Wattsy.

H/F: Jurrah, Watts, Bate

F/F: Wonnaemirri, Walker?, Sylvia

That's how i remember it. I thought the club were initially impressed by him.

Taylor Walker (Adel) - Would incredibly gladly give up our second pick (which should be somewhere mid 20's?). Play him full forward in a team that should be half decent, get the ball in quick and he'll kick 50 goals. Also has enough size and physicality to take the heat from Watts and Jurrah.

Jesse White (Swans) - I'm not sure about this guy. I don't think he offers enough as a forward. He'd be a nice pick up to back up ruck and play forward for us, but most premiership teams have 2 legitimate ruckman and big forwards.

Mitch Thorp (VFL) - The club have already had one look at him, obviously he wasn't amazing, but who knows by the end of the year.

Justin Westhoff (Port) - I'm tempted to just say no without any proper explanation.

MCKINLEY, Ben (WC) - No, just a medium sized forward with dodgy accuracy

DOWLER, Beau (Hawks) - Maybe, very hard to value. Wouldn't want to give too much for him.

Stress fractures I thought. Which he had prior to training with us. I also heard that the club were not at all thrilled that he'd failed to fully disclose his injury. If there's anything more to it than this I'd love to know.

From the list Taylor Walker would be the pick of them. He can play although I suspect he'd prefer to be lining up where Kurt Tippet does. He's looked down on confidence this year. I guess the way the Crows have moved the ball forward hasn't helped any of their forwards. Walker is way better than he's showing at the moment (as is Porplyzia, Tippet etc etc)

I think the fascination with this kind of speculation is mainly due to a lack of patience. But in reality, all of these suggested either require a great deal more patience or have been demanding much patience from their respective fans already. No quick fixes here. Better players of own to come on/back.
