MFC starting favourites

Who was our last opposition that started as a $3.00 underdog... besides Richmond a few weeks ago? Probably have to go back to early 2007.

These are the games I generally get nervous about, when the Dees go in as the heavy favourite. I know it was at Etihad but just look at the North game and all the pre-game hype about us.

Anyway, WC with an 18.5 point start might be worth a nibble... and will be quite happy to be proven wrong by the MFC

Been to four games this season and we have lost all of them. Heading to the races at Flemington on Saturday so Melbourne are ABSOLUTE certainties

I'm fairly confident we'll win this game, and that's saying a lot as I'm a glass half empty man. We play our best footy against intersate clubs at the G and Saturday will hopefully be no exception.

We need this win like a dog needs his bone because if we lose this match any slight finals chance will be out the window.

we should win, but we should have beat north melbourne,

we happen to play well against good opposition and against poor opposition we tend to struggle.

would love to see a 40-50 point win showing how much better we are than west coast.

would love to see the russian smash naitanui into place.

Wet Toast haven't won a last quarter all year. I don't think we have lost one.

We should beat 'em.

Unfortunately we have lost one last quarter and it was another team we were favoured to beat - Nth Melbourne outscored us 5 goals to 3 in the last Q.

I'm really hoping we don't see the same thing happen this week.

It doesn’t end there either WYL, I have not seen the boys win since we beat Collingwood on Queens Birthday a few years back. 07 from memory. I am a bloody virus.

First game of footy my dad took me to was the 87 preliminary final, enough said!

Yes the other aspect of this is the weather: fine and 19 degrees. It's our opportunity to get back to the running game we displayed so brilliantly against the Lions.

It will also be a great test for our forward line, particularly Hughes, Bate, Jamar and PJ, and maybe even Watts (although I somehow doubt it). Morton likewise.

Should be a great game and will show whether our gameplan against the Lions was an abberation or it is a future trend. Certainly we tried to play it last week, even in the wet, so all goes well for Saturday.

We are due some good luck with weather. The rain last Friday probably cost us 5k to 10k bums in seats. With the expectation of a win and fine weather and Watts on show it should be enough to convince many closet supporters to get along to the game. Possibly up to 35k at the G this week

With North, I dont think it was the opposition, we just cant play well at Etihad Stadium at the moment. I hate this ground, but we must learn to play well, away from the G. Will be interesting when we travel to skilled stadium and AAMI. It's all experience with the D's ATM.

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full
