No doubt you cant work it out.

hmmm yeah I guess I'm just not as brilliant as you are

If we are 5 wins (Eagles, Roos, Tigers, Port) after 9 games will you still be saying 'we are tracking according to plan'

you do realise we have 25 players under 22 and have won the last 2 spoons right? you realise our biggest issue is a non-existant forwardline yet we have Jurrah, Morton and Watts to come in? yet you seem to think we are underachieving, ask yourself which one of is really the realistic one

If If If. We are 1 win from 3 games. It was a great win but one we struggled to achieve against an underdone and injury riddled opponent. Lets look at Rd 9 when we get to it. Worst case of cart a mile ahead of the horse I have seen.

No tell me it isnt true. You must be lying.

You mean we dont have a forward line....where do you get such information from? This is a revelation.

... yet you seem to think we are underachieving, ask yourself which one of is really the realistic one

I said...

No we are tracking according to plan- Promising performances mixed with dog awful performances

You will miss the irony of your use of the word "realistic"

And for the record I love a good curry and beer ....but not when its so undercooked.

You cook your beer? :o

But seriously, why so negative? Can't we enjoy a win when they have been so rare? It's fun to speculate, however prematurely, on the possibility that at this time next week we could be in the top 8. When was the last time that happened? I know it would only be for a week (barring a miracle), but what a boost! As has been mentioned in another thread, a 41 point win would get us to 100%. That would be more than enough. Given that the tigers have just suspended their best defender and Cousins, it's not beyond the realm of possibility.

Why not just relax and enjoy a rare week of optimism rather than rubbing our faces in the hard truths we still face as a team?

Some of you posters need a long cold shower.

We have a young, inexperienced team. Have a look at the games played, number of players under 20yo and so on for teams that make the finals.

6 wins this year is a 50% improvement. 8 wins is 100% improvement. Just how much better than last year do we seriously think we have become?

Not that much yet, but that's beside the point. The point is that if we thrash Richmond we can theoretically get into the top half of the ladder for the first time in years. It doesn't matter that it would only be for a week, we would have been there.

What the hell is with some of the posts on all these threads... We could make top 4, we could be in the 8, Petterd can kick 75 goals, etc etc etc.

2 - 3 years we can start talking like this, but NOT this year.

Be realistic now..

What's unrealistic about this? It's not like we're talking about the end of the season here. There is a very real chance that we will be in the top 8 this time next week. Have a look at the ladder and this weekends matches and tell me I'm wrong.

9th is good.

Didn't realise that only 2 more goals would have had us above the Dogs (which would have been quite interesting).

When was the last time our wins equalled our losses and/or we had a percentage above 100?

9th is great. Go Dees. Keep attacking.

9 individual goal kickers. Thats terrific.

I am actually really pleased we finished 9th after today.

Will only help to keep pushing the Team-To make the 8 we have to beat the better teams.

Keep the challenges up-Do it for Jimma Demons-how proud was i to see him walk onto the turf at games end B)

Why should it have changed? You did not think we would win this?

yes but maybe not by 55 points basically on the strength of one quarter

clearly we are a class above them and a few others

but we obviously have to beat the Saints before you get excited

I can see and appreciate the improvement but I am not prone to frothing at the mouth in April like you.

I think we can play better than we did today. And we were not made to pay for a pretty ordinary 2nd quarter. Otherwise we are on the right path. Look forward to getting Morton back, introducing Watts and eventually Jurrah as well.

We are a class above Richmond and Adelaide at the moment but lets count the scalps as they come and not in advance.

Big challenge against the Lions next week... Will be a different tone come next Saturday.

HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
