Brock McLean

Recommended Posts

I'm amazed at the number of posters who still want to have a crack at Brock.

This is the only player [so far as I'm aware] to put his own money [$10,000] into the debt reduction. At that time commentators were amazed--players just don't do this sort of thing!

After last season at a function I attended someone asked Chris Connolly about Brock, why he'd failed to reach his 2006 standards. His reply was--simple--not properly fit since then. He recounted the history which all of us should know.

Outstanding 2006 especially the final v St Kilda,

broke his foot round 1 of 2007 against St Kilda [i recall we lead 5 goals to 2 at the time and lost, the first of 8 losses was it}

injured pre-season in 2008 and had no preseason before struggling onto the field for round 1

ditto in 2009--again, no real pre-season. Connolly went on to add that in 2008 McLean had insisted on playing Round 1 when half-fit, because iof te terrible state of the playing list. Connolly said "we were mad to let him play--it put him back" He then added--'let's give him a decent preseason--you'll see him regain his pace"

I don't know why the club and Brock could not reach agreement but I reckon he's a first-rate player and last Friday night he showed it in my view. I'm sick of people bagging him.

Has anyone even mentioned Brock, let alone had a dig at him in recent weeks?

I was going to mention this too, this one has certainly come from left field...

Perhaps the OP'er has heard this within his work place and had it confused with D'land...

edit: I did mention in another thread earlier this afternoon about Brock 'turns like the Queen Mary' McLean. The thread couldn't have stemmed from that fact, could it ? :P

Brock not being rubbished on Demonland--bull---t!

Have a look at the posts on Jack Watts, or High Towere's efforts above. Half you blokes can't wait to have a shot at him. I appreciate that it is really pissing you off watching him play decent footy at another club!

I suggest that every time you feel like having a snipe at him you reach into your pockets and give another $100 to the club. We'd pay off the debt in no time if you did

You obviously disagree with an aspect of Brock's footy characteristics (game) as I highlighted. Tell me where I was wrong, support it and then I'll take note of your stance. But not this unsubtantiated garbage.

Fwiw, I've acknowledged his support of Debt Demolition in the past and his onfield attributes. Describing one of his characteristics of his game is hardly a pot shot. I think Bate also has a wide turning circle and I'm a fan of his too. I've mentioned this numbers of times of both players.

It is a very weak point you make in reference to me. That must really p*** you off.

I would if I was an AFL player with pots of money.

I remember hearing that other players gave to the Debt Demolition although for some it was not as much and others just didn't want it publicized.

I watched the replay today, and luke ball was squatting (supposedly hurt) while play was going and Moloney (i think) walked over and pushed him over. Funny moment.

I remember Brad Green being on the Footy Show right after Brock donated, and he all but said "I donated money, but you don't see me bragging about it. The guy just wants to be Captain so bad he'll do anything."

I stand corrected..

It was funny how he just walked over and pushed him over. Im still chuckling about it now :)

Yeah agreed it was a pisser, especially from Newton and the way he nonchalantly pushed him.

ps Brock left us, not the other way round. So this thread isn't worth the screen it's appearing on.

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res
