Have you actually seen Port play this year. Don't let their poor ladder position last year fool you. They are very good. The Swans are good too, but that's mostly because of two awesome games from Goodes.

I watched most of the game last night and there are a few of their players you would have to shut down but they are an OK side in my opinion, not a very good side. Having said that they will be a difficult side for us to beat unless we can reproduce yesterday's effort.

Just looking ahead if we play like yesterday we could be quite easily be looking at 4 wins 4 losses by round 8.....that would be progress...

Adelaide this week, then Richmond, Brisbane, North, Bulldogs and then West Coast...dare to dream we could be 4 and 4 very realistically!

I suppose I was a little over the top saying that they're "very good," but certainly they'll be hard for us to beat. By the way, is it just me or has Chad Cornes become an absolute liability for Port. A poor man's Bruce, nowadays - hospital handballs, one-handed marking attempts, turnovers galore, no accountability. Bruce only has a couple of those problems, while Cornes has the lot. And at least Brucey's an alright bloke.

Yes, it was more direct, yes, we played man on man. However, rather than a change in style they just executed the game plan better.

The game plan was able to be executed because there was a solid structure in place. There were forwards forward of the ball and man-on-man defensive meant players were more accountable.

Would be a dream come true to be 4-4 after round 8.

We just need that break through win to gain confidence and belief that we can win the close ones.

I'm tipping 2-6 with wins V Richmond and West Coast. That's an improvement when you consider we won our second game in round 14 of 2008 and 2009.

Our loss has moved us up 4 spots.

Absolutely. The guy's an absolute beacon for attention though. I mean, how can you miss him? With hair like some sort of tropical fruit, tall as a giraffe, with skin as black as Andrew Dimetriou's evil, evil, heart and a spring in his step like a man on a pogo stick, it's impossible not to notice him.

With the intensity and flare the boys played with yesterday, Adelaide will not take this game lightly. They will play hard and dirty (Dangerfield)... On the other hand, the crows leading tackler has 8 tackles whilst young Jordie has 23... yep 23. They also have a more experienced side compared to MFC. If melbourne play they was they played yesterday, it will be MFC by 18 points. BUT, lets hope the crows do not play dirty and injure 2 of out players again.

At least there's some glimmer of hope of us being able to beat them on merit. I feel alive again as a footy supporter.

Bloody oath we're a chance. I always think we're a good chance v an interstate side at the G, but this time coming off a good game against the Pies and full of confidence we should be definitely come into the match believing we can win.

Someone said it, but i'll say it again. What we saw yesterday needs to be backed up, it can't be a one off.

I'm feeling very pessimistic about our chances, but it is equally possible that they young guys could turn on a showcase game and [censored] them. My comments come from the theory that such an inexperienced group is unlikely to produce the same intensity two weeks running. I'd be thrilled if the could show me otherwise, especially if it gave them a sniff and some momentum going into the Richmond game which has to be seen as a must-win for the team.

Actually, I think the Crows are collectively suffering from that hopeless loss to C'wood in the finals, which they squandered in much worse fashion than our loss yesterday. They had trouble scoring, handballed into and out of their arses, and I think they still do. Their two bad losses will leave them very shaky with the prospect of a nerve-wracking game against the so called bottom feeders of the AFL on the MCG. They'll be tight, we should be loose, so to speak. We should be stronger if Sylvia comes in, maybe Maric or Cheney. Not sure who they'd drop, but I'd suggest Bate and Strauss, maybe the unchanging, always-caught Jones. Bennell's balls have been questioned, but he might be stung into some kind of statement, and could be a live-wire on the forward line. Doubt they'll drop two, though, from a near-winning side.

Melbourne would be very disappointed, but that should not affect their game; it's the Crows who are up against it away from home and seriously questioning their own ability. They'll be worried. I've gone from pessimism to optimism after seeing the way the side can play. I keep seeing Mckenzie in the mind's eye, streaming through the middle or laying tackles; that bloke is good. I loathe the Crows, whose supporters are actually worse than C'wood's. A win would be great, with Richmond to come.

If they have to make changes (and with Sylvia to come they do) I'd be looking at dropping Bartram and maybe Straus (although I'd prefer to keep him).

We can beat the Crows. They've got injuries and are traditionally slow starters to the year. They'll also be pretty fired up after yesterday's performance (the coach was reportedly booed off the ground). If we bring our best game we can do it (though as was mentioned above, our young team is likely to be incredibly inconsistent for a while yet).

Sylvia will be back and will be very important

On another point with the close loss this week, the coaches need to fuel the players desire and hunger. Rather than make them dwell on it and make them depressed about letting it slip, they must make sure the passion and intensity they had going into the match is replicated v Adelaide. The anger and disappointment on Ricky Petterd's face should be motivation enough.

It won't be Green's 200th.

There won't be 50,000 people there.

The opponent's not Collingwood.

We're Melbourne.

Add all that up, and I feel we'll lose. Adelaide still have a lot of talent in their team, and this is an absolutely crucial game to them.

I wouldn't be surprised, though, if we did pull it off.
