This is how the coaches saw our game:

Collingwood v Melbourne

9 Ricky Petterd (Melb)

8 Mark Jamar (Melb)

4 Dayne Beams (Coll)

3 Jack Grimes (Melb)

3 Aaron Davey (Melb)

2 Brent Moloney (Melb)

1 Scott Pendlebury (Coll)

Both Malthouse and Bailey give 5,4,3,2,1 to players from either team.

Nice to see they both acknowledged Jamar.

6: Jamar: Destroyed Jolly in the ruck, gave our midfielders first use. The best ruck performance I have seen in red and blue since Jeff White 2004 (before the White rule).

5: Pettard: Best game in his career but needed to win the game when he had the opportunity.

4: Davey: imaculate delivery to the forwards all day.

3: Grimes: impressive again off half back.

2: McKenzie: best rookie listed player since Davey.

1: Joel MacDonald: Kept his side of the bargain.

Interesting. I reckon the two coaches may have seen it something like this:

Bailey:

Petterd 5

Beams 4

Jamar 3

Grimes 2

Pendlebury 1

Malthouse:

Jamar 5

Petterd 4

Davey 3

Moloney 2

Grimes 1

Point is I don't think Malthouse gave the Pies any votes. Could be wrong. But it is another hunch. ;)

When are people going to start getting it right?

IT'S PETTERD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Even the COMMENTATORS are calling him Pettard.

Dappa.. chill bro. They still refer to Russell Robertson as Russell Robinson. As frustrating as it is, give up. It will be the same for TrengRove.

edit: I think Nasher & KS are right on this one.

I was under the impression it was actually pronounced "Pettard" despite the spelling. Tim Lane pronounces it "pettid" but he seems to be on his own.

Edit: Snap Keyser Söze

Edit2: From a post in 2007: http://www.eaglesflyinghigh.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=9425&start=0 (yes, eaglesflyinghigh is the world's most reliable source )

Petterd was on SEN this afternoon, and he sounded like a great guy. He played a fantastic game for the Dees, and I'm sure will add another dimension to complement their list of talented youngsters.

And he said his name was pronounced "PettArd"

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
